An Apple Omelet and a Bus Tour

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, August 8, 2011. On Friday the credit rating of the United States was downgraded for the first time from AAA to AA+. Standard and Poor's did so because they believe that the United States will keep having trouble getting its finances under control. Apparently, the months of unsettling squabbling in Congress convinced them that the downgrade was warranted. They were not satisfied with the weak deal that was finally worked out. Clearly, they viewed this lame "compromise" in much the same way that most of the American people did.
Let's prepare breakfast and take a look at what is going on. This morning Apple Omelets are on the menu. You will need 3 large eggs, 1 peeled and sliced Granny Smith apple, 1 tablespoon sour cream, 1 tablespoon cream, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 2 teaspoons butter and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Beat your eggs until fluffy and set aside. In a large skillet, melt 1 teaspoon butter. Add, apples, cinnamon and brown sugar. Saute until tender and set aside. Wipe frying pan, add the rest of the butter and pour in egg mixture. When eggs are almost set, flip the omelet over. In the center of the omelet, spread sour cream and top with most of apple mixture. Fold omelet, plate it and place the apple mixture on top. Mix yourself a suitable fortified drink and enjoy. I feel a letter coming on.
Dear President Obama,
We have been told that you are about to embark on a bus tour that will take you through the Midwest states. These states are seen as "swing" states during presidential election years. You are paying for this trip with taxpayer money and I, for one, am not happy about it. I don't want to foot the bill. I don't want to support your campaign for re-election. I don't care how your "team" characterizes this trip. It's a campaign sweep and I do not want to contribute one dime to this ill conceived tour.
Running around the country trying to get Americans to believe that we are on the road to recovery is just not going to cut it. Trying to convince the citizens of these "swing " states that you deserve four more years is not acceptable on the taxpayer's money. Now is not the time for a campaign tour.
I imagine you are going to try and convince potential voters it was the evil Tea Party that derailed the effort to strike a sensible deal. In point of fact sir, it was the Tea Party candidates who fought for the kind of deal the S & P would have approved of. I am sure you will lay the blame of the downgrade at the feet of the Republicans who fought so hard to stop you from raising taxes. If you speak to people who are uninformed, they may believe your rhetoric about taxing millionaires and billionaires. No doubt we can reform the tax code to eliminate tax breaks for, as an example, hedge funds. Only the hedge funds would be opposed to that. Mr. President, although you speak about millionaires and billionaires you really mean couples earning $250,000 a year or more. What a great way to cripple the economy further.
Let's assume you eliminate the Bush tax cuts. Well go ahead, but make sure that it is across the board. Let's get a lot of those people who don't pay federal taxes into the mix. The tax burden falls on almost half the population. The other half pays nothing. Make it fair. Now, of course, all this taxing won't help our economy as much as you want people to believe. Raising taxes on the only people who actually pay taxes is not the answer, but go ahead and do it. When the economy tanks further, what are you going to say and who are you going to blame it on?
I have a suggestion, Mr. President. Either make this bus trip an apology tour or get off the bus...POP...

The aftermath of this downgrade is going to be very painful. First we will suffer financially and then we will suffer emotionally listening to these fools blame everyone from the Tea Party to the Easer Bunny. I am heading to the bar early. If I have to endure one more fool call this the Tea Party Downgrade I am going to lose it.
I agree! Why should tax payers pay for his campaign. Think what it costs when he fires up Air Force to go to this lavish campaign dinners. If Reid hadn't tabled the Cut, Cap and Balance bill we might not have been downgraded. They are always big on blame but short on ideas that would work. We must cut our spending! Rated up and awesome.
The guy cannot stay in the white house for too long. It must have been horrible to stay in Washington during the Jet disaster. No, the debt disaster. So now Obumma is going on a bus tour. I want to know what he is thinking when he is reminded he is the first president to have our debt downgraded. One of the problems I have with the downgrade is that S&P downgraded the US, the same S&P that gave AAA ratings to mortgages that would never get paid off. Everything is in the Crapper. To the bar. You are right about S & P but they did it and it's done! Obama celebrated the downgrade with a golf game. Oh, he's not going to propose any tax on hedge funds...not as long as George Soros is writing campaign contribution checks. Since when does a President have time to go ride a bus around the midwest? Of course, he is not going to do that, he will board the bus five minutes before it pulls into each stop posing as a "bus rider". Instead, he will be riding between stops on Air Force One. The cost of such a junket will be through the roof just from a security and logistics standpoint...his campaign, even with a billion dollar warchest, could not afford it but the American taxpayers can. Why I do believe he is thumbing his nose at us once again. S&P has made it blatantly clear why the downgrade took place and it all has to do with spend, spend, spend, with no foreseeable reduction in the national debt. There is no blaming the Tea Party for that scenario. This man is one of two things...either a naive egotiscal maniac or a conniving manipulator bent on the destruction of America financially...take your choice, they both end up in the same place. WB

What Standard and Poor's is saying is “Enough Already”; blow away the smoke and break all the mirrors and get down to some real cuts. And if you keep blabbing about that Shared Sacrifice Bull-Defecation then we’re going to downgrade you to Double D as in Dolly Pardon! Well they didn’t actually say that but they should have!

POP: Obama has never taken responsibility for anything. So now it is the Tea Party's turn - Again. He is certainly a man in denial, and that includes his WH staff. The only things he knows how to do is play golf, basketball, and read teleprompters.
I, too, am upset that my tax money is going for a campaign bus tour.
We just need to remember these things, and convince our DEMs that he needs to be replaced. (Actually, I believe that more and more DEMS are displeased with Obama.)

I don't think Ohio is a swing state anymore - we lost federal legislature seats because so many people moved away, mostly to Florida.

The talking points of the Demoncrats are firmly in place. The latest is "tea party downgrade". I think we should take Iced tea with us to Demon rallies and douse anyone who says this. I wish I could say the American people dont deserve this downgrade but we have elected every government that fostered it.
