A Crawfish Omelette and a Letter

By breakfastpop

Why?

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, July, 26, 2010. In honor and recognition of the ongoing tragedy in the Gulf states let's prepare a Crawfish Omelette. I feel a letter coming on.

You will need 1 pound of cooked crawfish tails, 1/4 cup butter, 3/4 cup minced red bell pepper, 1 tablespoon chopped garlic, 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms, 1/4 cup sliced green onions, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, 8 eggs, 1/2 cup milk, salt and pepper to taste and 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. In a heavy saute pan, heat butter over med-high heat. Add bell pepper, garlic, mushrooms and green onions. Saute for about 5 minutes or until vegetables are wilted. Add crawfish and parsley and saute another 5 minutes. In a mixing bowl, combine eggs and milk. Whisk until well blended and season to taste with salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Pour egg mixture over crawfish and stir. When eggs are set, turn onto a platter and garnish with parsley.

To President Barack Hussein Obama,

I do not live on the Gulf coast. I am not a victim of the Gulf spill or the moratorium that you and your administration are determined to inflict upon the residents along the Gulf. I am a citizen of this great nation who feels enormous empathy for the people who are suffering because of this spill and who will continue to suffer because of your decision to impose a drilling moratorium. I had the privilege of listening to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal discuss the impact of this ill advised moratorium. He relayed a conversation he had with you that struck me as a perfect example of your cold and cavalier attitude about this crisis. You told Gov. Jindal that if the people of Louisiana didn't like the drilling ban they could file for compensation with BP. Gov. Jiindal then asked you what would they do if BP refused to help. You then replied that they could file for unemployment. This was the best you had to offer? They could file for unemployment. These people don't want handouts. They want to work. The rigs are starting to leave the Gulf, Mr. President and contrary to your misguided beliefs, once they go they are not coming back.

Louisiana will lose thousands upon thousands of jobs. Does that resonate with you or is this the crisis you were hoping for? Were you looking for an opportunity to make an already desperate situation worse? The court has rejected the government's position on this ban twice and yet you are back in court trying to get your way. Why? Are you at all aware of the damage you are causing to state and local governments? The moratorium cuts traffic on Louisiana Highway 1, a roadway that leads to drilling launch points. The state will have to make up 39 million dollars in lost revenue from the tolls. In Louisiana 320,000 direct and indirect jobs depend upon drilling. It is almost impossible to imagine the damage this ban will cause to all the Gulf Coast communities. Why are you so determined to inflict this pain? Why?

Louisiana and its parishes will lose 8 million to 15 million dollars a month in tax revenue. Sales taxes and tourism will also take a significant hit. Are you listening, Mr. President? Judging from your order to relentlessly pursue this moratorium, I can only conclude that your sights are set elsewhere. You appear to be ramping up your campaign skills so why should a little thing like a monumental catastrophe divert your attention away from you and your party?

You are failing the people of this nation with each step that you take and with each piece of "changing" legislation you sign into law. I am starting not to recognize this great country anymore and I am alarmed beyond words. Now you have let the people of the Gulf down and in doing so you are letting us all down. I have only one question to ask of you. Why?...POP...

This "errand boy" that we have for a President is bent on carrying out George Soros' biddings and he is just stupid enough to do it openly with this moratorium. Soros is invested heavily in the off-shore drilling operations of Brazil. Obama has already committed over 10 billion in US taxpayer dollars to further develop those oilfields. This disaster in the Gulf just gave him the perfect reason to push these rigs out of the Gulf and head them to Brazil to increase activity in those waters. This man has no shame and he has absolutely no love for America or its people. How much damage does one President have to do before impeachment becomes a consideration? Obviously, with Reid and Pelosi at the helms, that consideration has never come up. This man is not just bad for America, he is a disaster...the largest one by far that America has ever seen. WB

I totally agree with Wayne - Obama is not just bad, he is a disaster! I am trying to remember if he did anything since he has become a president that I would agree with, and unfortunately I can't. Pop, maybe you remember anything he did good so far?

And I love crawfish, too bad there is no crawfish anymore :(

Barack Hussein Obama doesn’t in tend to let this crisis go to waste. It is his opportunity to get even more people dependent on the Federal Government for subsistence. As his mentor Saul Alinsky pointed out you can’t establish the new world order until you collapse the present one. As bad as he’s crippled this economy so far he still has more work to do. In order to pass Cap and Trade which will devastate the present Carbon Based Economy he must further exacerbate the Gulf Oil Crisis. The poor peasant citizens of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida are the mere pawns caught up in his epic struggle to bring this country to its knees!

The fact the court has rejected his Regime’s position on this ban twice before is of little consequence to him. He and his legions will simply shop the case around until they find a Left Leaning Judge who will side with them and then it will be up to Jindle and the People of Louisiana to force the case up to the Supreme Court which now is becoming more and more Left Leaning with the recent appointments of Sotomayor and Cagan.

Anyone that refuses to see he is doing all this on purpose is indeed an ideologue who no doubt supports the destruction and rebuilding of this Once Great Nation!

Good morning Wayne,

Obama is a one man wrecking ball that is for sure. The Gulf spill was probably another great crisis to capitalize on at the expense of so many, many people. This past week-end, for the first time, I read 2 op-ed pieces calling for Obama's impeachment. It's time.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop Hub Author 22 months ago

Dear tony,

I can't see shutting down all drilling because of one accident. So many people will suffer and once the rigs leave, and they will, they will not return. What then? We also need the energy these rigs provide. We must not dump the whole endeavor because of an accident. Things happen.

I can actually think of ONE thing BO did that was good, he allowed our SEALS to blow the heads off the Somali pirates last year, other than that.....NADA!! The drilling ban is another passive aggressive way of forcing people to rely on government because they are not permitted to work since he is chasing their jobs away. Sick, sad, and twisted, our first post-racial president...YEAH!

Shutting down drilling in the Gulf is like stopping all airplanes after one accident. I can imagine having less gas and oil, prices soaring, maybe lines at the pumps...Soros, Strong, Obama, believe Americans live too well. They've set out to change that.

Dear POP, you ask Why? Have you noticed that if someone disagrees with Obama, he takes a personal vendetta against that person and then does everything in his power to do the opposite of what was asked. Yes unemployment is the answer because it's an alternative to creating jobs, it's power over the people....then when he's ready....he will become the savior....one way or another, even if by executive order.

Dear Pamela,

Governor Jindal is the perfect example of what a representative of the people should be. I admire him and I can't express my admiration enough. We need people of his character abounding in Washington. First we have to rid ourselves of the socialist wannabees.

That's just plain sick, Obama flippantly telling Jindal to take it up with BP. And it fits so well with his reparations philosophy - in this instance private reparations rather than government reparations for ills long gone. Just how many decades into the future would Obama have BP reparate and fund the great state of Louisiana? Right.

Obama could give a rat's ass what happens to Louisiana's economy . . . (Ass is PC now, right?!)

POP- I have a feeling there is no hope. I hate saying that because something needs to be done but he is out of control. We just have to pray we can survive until the end of his term. He will never have a second one. That is the only good news I see. If I heard Obama was best buds with Osama then life would make sense once again. He wants to punish this nation for some reason but I do not know why. Thank you for trying to get through to him, and thank you for the omelet, at least we get to eat(for now). Jess

Springboard profile image

Springboard Level 5 Commenter 22 months ago

Unfortunately, POP, the letter isn't worth the paper it's written on nor the stamp to send it along. President Obama does not care about the American people. He does not care about the economy. And he certainly does not care about jobs. More and more it looks like he DOES want total dependence by the American people on the government.

I'm for unemployment checks, as my hubs would attest. But NOT when we can use our sensibility to avoid having to pay them out. The moratorium to me is the equivalent of grounding an entire fleet of 747s because one airplane crashes. The allowing of thousands and thousands of people to lose yet more jobs in an already wheezing jobs market is equivalent to having your head shoved up your ass.

Clearly that is exactly where the president's head is at.

Good morning Springboard,

I agree. Obama doesn't give a fig leaf about the Gulf situation. The guy can't even fake it for the sake of votes. His attempt to show he "cares" is another family vacation, this time in Florida. Florida has been impacted by this spill the least of any state. But it's a big state with lots of votes. I hope the people of Florida see through this insult. At this point we can only conclude that he is trying to deliberately cripple the Gulf and its people forever.

So if all those people are happier the world must be a better place- Lets everyone sing-"Cume by ya my lord...."no wait they they don't believe in our God Great hub- you can cut down on the oily ness of the omlette inards by drying it off in a paper towel or transferring them to a lower heated pan and by cooking the oil off taking and switching too a different pan will also keep the veggies crisper and less soggy-when cooking at home- I sometimes steam the veggies in the pan instead of using alot of butter or oil.

Hi Pop - Fret not about those tasty crawfish. 'Twixt Texas and Louisiana probably more than half of the crawfish in the U.S. reside. The rascals reproduce faster than fruit flies almost, so the more you eat 'em the hornier they get. Anyway, they are not salt water critters. They live in "brackish" sorts of waters like flooded rice fields, shallow ponds, and peoples backyards. They make mounds and crawl on into the burrows they make in and under the mounds. Another name for crawfish is "mud bug." Another interesting thing is that mud bugs are not "Kosher" because, for one thing, they are not considered to be aquatic animals.

Even so, you got the picture about "his majesty" trying to do it to the country and to the Gulf Coast folks. The court has turned him down about imposing the moratorium on deep water offshore drilling, but he has come right back and appealed. If that doesn't work, he and his motley crew will simply do it again (and again). The effect will be that he will continue to have his way.

Gus :-)))

No, Hummingbird,I beg to differ, we did not get Obama because Bush was "so bad", that's a European myth that filtered into America with very negative consequences.

We got Obama because he is a conning chameleon and our mainstream media, which continues to be a primary source of 'local evening news' for voting Americans, carefully crafted the news in support of Obama, carefully culled what was not favorable to/revealing of Obama.
