A Creole Omelette and the Observer

Strange Partnerships

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, September 8, 2011. Scotty, our dear friend from outer space, is in residence in my residence. He has some observations about recent developments in our Labor Department that he wishes to discuss. Since Scotty adores our breakfasts, he has requested that we whip up some Creole Omelettes this morning.

You will need 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper, 1/2 cup chopped celery, 2 tablespoons butter, 1 (16 ounce) can of tomatoes, 1 bay leaf, 3/4 teaspoon garlic salt, 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme, 1 package of tiny frozen cooked shrimp, 8 eggs, 1/2 cup water and 4 tablespoons butter.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook onion, pepper and celery in butter until tender. Stir in tomatoes and seasonings, increasing the heat to high. Cook until mixture thickens about 10 minutes. Stir in shrimp and reduce heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes. Now prepare your omelettes and fill each omelette with 1/2 cup of hot shrimp mixture. Fold omelette over and turn onto a plate. Top each omelette with remaining shrimp mixture. Put some tin foil over your omelettes (you'll have four) and head for my place. Scotty will relieve you of three of your omelettes and I will hand you a Bloody Mary.

Welcome, my beloved earthling friends. Thank for coming over to see me and bringing me such a fine breakfast. Are you aware that your U.S. Department of Labor has said they will enforce federal wage laws on behalf of anyone working in your country regardless of immigration status. In other words people in your country illegally will have the protection of your government. I am trying to understand how "illegal" aliens get legal protections afforded citizens who are here legally.

I m trying to wrap my alien arms around this concept but I am at a loss to understand why the word "illegal" seems to be equal to "legal". I am also shocked to have learned that your Labor Department has a "partnership" with a group of Latin American countries which, in effect, obligates your government to protect the working conditions for undocumented migrant laborers in your country. Are you familiar with the Immigration and Nationality Act? Let me enlighten you. This act states that employers may hire only people who may legally work in the United States. The Act protects U.S. citizens and aliens who are authorized to work in your country. It does not offer protection to people who are in your country illegally.

Your Labor Secretary Hilda Solis has her own view of the law. She just signed partnerships with Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador vowing to protect the rights of migrant workers in the United States regardless of whether or not they are in your country legally. Agreements like this were already signed with Mexico, Nicaragua and Guatemala and Ms. Solis is looking forward to adding to the list of countries that want to ensure that illegal workers are protected.

I can only conclude that your nation no longer considers people who are here "illegally" to be here "illegally". This mess started a long time ago and needs to be addressed now. Each "partnership" that is signed and each time your President Obama looks the other way and declares your borders safe, your problems multiply. This kind of behavior is counterproductive and downright dangerous in this Observer's view. You simply can't afford to compound your immigration problems while you pretend to try and solve them. Tell the people you elected to open their eyes and roll up their sleeves. Your country's future depends upon it and ignorance, in this case, is definitely not bliss. Pop and Scotty,

Great and insightful observations as usual. You have pointed out another area of overregulation stifiling the American economy.

Holder's political prosecution of Gibson guitars is another. As an aside, the wood Gibson got arrestested for importing from India would be OK if the work to to finish it were outsourced to India also. In other words if Gibson and every other American guitar manufacturer eliminated AMERICAN JOBS they would be OK under American Law. COO COO!!!!!!!!!!

POP: It certainly makes sense to me to have a Labor Dept. head signing agreements to protect the rights of illegals, and a president and Justice dept. who say nothing. Wait a minute - What rights do illegals have?

Aren't they like runaway prisoners?

If we are to "look the other way", then we also need to collect taxes from them and their employers. Why do you think it is so lucrative for employers to hire illegals?

Lower pay and no taxes to the government. No wonder we are in financial trouble.

I'm off to the bar - someone, please save me a seat....

Every time I read about another ridiculous act of one of Obummy's minions, I come to the conclusion that the laws of our country have been 'dumbed down' to protect the rights of those who have no right to be here in the first place. What a travesty of the rights enjoyed by American citizens who obey our laws.

Morning POP...Another shining example of this administration's blatant courting of the Hispanic vote...The racist Latino org. " La Raza " ( the race ), which promotes bi-lingual educational mandates for schools, works closely with the Dept of Labor as an advisory group on all things Hispanic...They are not adviser's, they are an advocacy group that follows the tactics of Quebec's French separatists and Belgium's Flemish separatists, both of which advocate splitting their respective nations into two distinct cultures and languages...Belgium is now considering such a split...

Can it happen here..? Absolutely...With the support of an unwitting and progressively oriented Labor Dept, the unintended consequences of appeasement towards illegal aliens will encourage such orgs as La Raza and others to follow and propagate their motto : " La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada. ( For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing )...This is pure racism.

One of America's greatest strengths has always been taking in immigrants from cultures around the world, and assimilating them into our country as Americans. By being citizens of the U.S. we are Americans first, and only, in our national loyalties.

This is totally opposed by La Raza and the hordes of illegal immigrants pouring across our borders...Either we are a land of laws or we are not...When going to any country you obey their laws or pay the consequences...

Beam me up, Scotty...The stupidity of our government is driving me bonkers...

See you at the tavern, Pop...Where the conversation is in English, where the color of your skin means nothing, and where the content of your mind reigns supreme...Larry

Scotty is right on target as usual and the Gibson guitar situation is a great example of not caring about the same businesses when they are not unionized! Obama's motives are clear and the illegal votes during the next election will probably outnumber anything we have seen in past elections. What about the thousands of people trying to get here legally?

See you at the inn.

Each administration has failed us in dealing with illegal immigration. The Obama team is no exception. Though if the job situation gets much worse in this country, they may all be running home to find a job soon. Great breakfast!

I do not agree with illegal activities and I know that their are laws that are in place that make it illegal to come to the US without proper papers. With that being said, I think its kind of sad that people seem to forget that most of all our ancestors came from other countries to have a new life to have a better life and they were not thrown in jail or deported. All I am saying is that it is sad- that for all those years since the US was founded up until the last few decades it was ok to be an immigrant from another country, to the LAND OF THE FREE. To have the AMERICAN DREAM, and now America decides that its enough and that chance is over unless you have enough money or the right connections to come here legally? There should have been a better way than that.---- Again, I am not pro-illegal immigration, I just think it could be done a better way and that its not fair how a lot of people judge them for their desperation to have a better life, when our grandparents or great grandparents or great great grandparents (most of them) came from other countries too just as desperate. Its kind of hypocritical. GOOD HUB BreakfastPop

Yep, you got it..That's the whole idea, reach out to everyone in the world legal or illegal at the expense of U.S. citizens. That way other countries will love us!!!!! See you at the Inn. I'm buying.

Dear maven,

The Inn may be the last bastion of sanity in the land. Honestly, I can only assume that the dumbing down of America has allowed groups like this to exist and to take hold. This is the first I've heard of this group and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. Beam me up Scotty, things on earth are deteriorating fast. See you at the inn.

Dear Pamela,

Exactly, what about the people who are living by the rules and doing this right? Are they to be ignored because they are law abiding? Illegal is illegal is illegal. Is that a concept too difficult for this administration? See you at the Inn.

Dear suziecat,

Long time no breakfast. I miss you. I agree this problem started a long time ago and now we are paying the price of government's indifference. It's time to pay the piper and fix things once and for all. See you at the Inn.

breakfastpop Hub Author 8 months ago

Dear Lady Tenaz,

I agree it is all very sad, but keep in mind that there is a path to citizenship in this nation and many people are obeying the rules and will soon become proud citizens of the U.S.A. We need to seal our borders and then and only then can we come up with a humane plan for those people who are already here. If we continue to ignore the problem people who have been here for a long time will still live in the shadows and that is awful. See you at the Inn.

Dear WillStarr,

I agree and if we don't get a handle on this idiotic problem it won't be long before we won't recognize our great nation. The fact that we are a nation of laws has escaped those who are supposed to be enforcing them. See you later at the Inn.

Hey, every country in the world will sign that agreement with Ms. Solis...why not? How many illegal American workers do you suppose they have in their countries? This is simply another way to allow money to be drained from the US economy back into their countries as it is sent back to relatives. Just another of many commie-pinko-socialist plots cooked up by the our reigning socialist. WB

Dear Wayne,

These countries must be so delighted with the jobs plan that our country has created in their honor for their people.
