A Strawberry Delight and Hypocrisy

By breakfastpop

Unbelievable!

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Class is in session this morning so let's prepare a quick and delicious breakfast to take along. Today we will be learning about hypocrisy.

To prepare your breakfast you will need a handful of strawberries, a cup of milk, 1 banana, 1/2 cup of orange juice, 1 scoop of strawberry ice cream and a blender. Place all ingredients in the blender, turn it on, and when your ingredients are blended, place the smoothie in the refrigerator for a bit so that it can thicken. Put on your school clothes, grab a notebook and your breakfast and I'll meet you in school.

Good morning class. Our topic today is current and interesting. Just this morning to no one's surprise, it was revealed that the AFL-CIO has been pouring money into the Occupy Wall Street protests to keep them alive and well. This, in and of itself, is amusing because if not for the unrelenting greed of the unions many of our states would be solvent and our federal government would be in better shape. Let me illustrate what I mean by hypocrisy using labor leaders in Illinois as an example.

It has been revealed that at least eight labor leaders in Chicago were eligible to receive enormously inflated city pensions on top of union pensions for the same exact period of employment. It is no small wonder that Chicago and Illinois are facing financial trouble.

One union official was expected to receive about $9 million over a lifetime in pension benefits derived from a city laborers fund, a union district council fund and a national union fund for the same exact job. Loose interpretation of the law has allowed for this windfall.

I heard one of the protesters being interviewed yesterday while I was driving home. I had to fight real hard to keep control of my car. This young woman was of the belief that no one needed to earn more than $200,000 a year. Anything more than that was obscene and should be shared. Another genius was disgusted by the size of Steve Job's estate. He believed that it should be taxed heavily. When he was informed that there was an inheritance tax, his answer was angry and spontaneous. The tax wasn't high enough. So while these people demand "everything for nothing" they cheerfully accept union donations and don't seem at all concerned by the behavior of union leaders and the unreasonable demands imposed by the unions upon the states. Then again perhaps they are two of a kind, all wanting the same thing. The protesters carry on about Wall Street greed but overlook the greed of the unions and their leaders. They accuse people like Steve Jobs of having accumulated too much money by working his way to the top but are more than willing to relieve his estate of its money so they can have it for doing nothing and contributing nothing to this world. They are the ultimate hypocrites. It's not that they don't "want" things, it's just that they don't want to work for them.

I want to believe that these people are an anomaly. I want to believe that these people are fringe lunatics who "can't see the forest for the trees". I want to believe that there aren't that many of them among us. I want to believe that they will go quietly away into the night.

If, for one moment, I believed that "they are our future", I would cry myself to sleep and fear for the lives of my children and grandchildren. It's time to get them off the streets. It's time for the citizens of New York to demand that they clean up the city and go home to mommy and daddy. It's time for them to grow up and get a life. I feel the same way about the unions and this administration. I am sick of the protests, the president, the unions, the media and above all the hypocrisy.. Class dismissed...POP...

Good morning maven,

Wow, you are up early. It's wonderful to share the breakfast table with you. Honestly, I think I am losing my mind. I sit down in front of the keyboard and although my intent is to write about something else, out"pops" some more about this insanity on Wall street. I simply can't calm down. I may leave for the Inn in a few minutes. I'll save you a seat.

Great hub. Let us stop worrying about Wall Street and what people "should" make. Furthermore, people should stop whining- if you want to earn more, WORK SMART AND STRATEGIZE. I am with you breakfastpop 100%. Amen. Oh yes, after I finish this comment, I shall rest for awhile and then wake up and order some uni sushi with salad! Have a great day!

Trust me I want to forget about these protests, but as soon as I think I am calm, I hear something that sets me off again. See you at the Inn!

These demonstrators are nothing more than wannabee marxists sho do not want to contribute anything to society. They are just takers. That is why they take from the unions. They do not have to work for it, they just take. To me, the joke is on the union members. These are the people who go to work to earn a wage. Their unions are giving away their workers money to the lazy and filthy. If I was a union member I would be outraged and would tell my union rep to stop giving away my money. But alas, there are more stupid people in the world than we thought. zThe u nions are supposed to represent their workers, but they represent themselves and the union leaders. Union members, you are getting duped by your union leaders. hope you are enjoying it! And the dupe you without vaseline!!! To the bar!BARTENDER..........

Good morning teacher. Great lesson today after we all recited the pledge of allegiance and prayed our morning prayer--not! It is appalling and even in the city of Asheville and now in our fair mountain town of Hendersonville, we have groups setting up camp or better said have set up camps complete with tents to protest. They don't even have a clue as to what they are protesting. the media interviews them and they are full of rhetoric and complaints which have no real meat. Reminds me so much of the 1960's anti-establishment movements. The sad fact is the taxpayers are bearing the burden for these tent cities of a group who seem to be happy sitting on their duff and enjoying a moment in the spotlight at our expense. If arrested and put in jail they would be happy and feel they have accomplished an important goal. Free room and board and 3 square meals each day along with heat or air conditioning and cable television to watch their counterparts in NY and other parts of the country. Baby bottles and pablum and a swift kick in the butt is what they all need. Just saying.

You want too much Poppy! LOL! In too many cases, this is the product of our higher education system where so many of the socialist and commies of the 60's like Bill Ayers are hiding out posing as intellectuals and professors more than willing to shape these young minds. These are young people who have borrowed six figure loans just to attend college and come away with a degree in Literature of the Dark Ages. They are actually surprised when they find there are no job opportunites in that arena when they enter the world of the working stiff. Now, they don't want to repay the loans. The intelligence demonstrated here is dismal and quite disconcerting to say the least. People who receive an education are suppose to be smarted at the end not dumber. Just get in the back of the bus and watch this group drive America right off the cliff. WB

POP: Unfortunately these Wall Street protestors do not understand the link between them the Unions who are funding them. The only way to make it in this country is hard work. I did it. Am I uber-rich? No. Am I comfortable? Yes. Am I jealous of others who have more? No. These protestors are not organized, nor do they know what they are protesting. I wonder if Cuba is allowing anyone to immigrate to their country? If so, we should cut our losses and send these protestors by planesful to see what it is like to live as they are demanding. Sorry for the strange rant; my mind sometimes sees things strangely. Great class; now I'm off to the bar. Everyone bring a $50.00 bill and we'll practice equality - NOT! Someone, please save me a seat... I'll buy today.....

I hope we can keep them off the bus, because I have no intention of going over a cliff because of their stupidity. Hey Pop, why wouldn’t the AFL-CIO pour money into the Occupy Wall Street protests to keep them alive and well they epitomize what the AFL-CIO is all about; SOMETHING FOR NOTHING. For years they have been terrorizing American Industry backing them into a corner until finally most Industries that could fled overseas to escape their tactics. I’ve said this forever and believe it more today than ever before; good honest people don’t need a Union- Unions protect the sorriest amongst us; the deadbeats that are looking for something for nothing!

Pop double dipping by Unions and their cronies is Business as Usual the Chicago way. After all they are nothing more than a Money Laundering machine for the Democratic Party; Extort Dues from their membership; give the money 100% to Democratic Candidates then get favorable laws passed such as Card Check in order to pay the Union Bosses back for their loyalty then the Bosses skim their share off the top. And the scheme just keeps on going and going and going like the Energizer Bunny!

Of course that Idiot Protester thinks no one needed to earn more than $200,000 a year and anything more than that was obscene and should be shared; spoken like a true Marxist. The leader of this Marxist Regime told Joe the Plummer as much while he was visiting those 57 states while on the campaign trail! And as for them carrying on about Wall Street greed but overlooking the greed of the unions and their leaders; they are so blinded by their Anti-Capitalist Ideology they can’t see the greed of the unions because after all in their world Unions are a Good Thing and can thus do no wrong! Remember the first great Socialist Revolution led by Lenin and Trotsky was galvanized around the workers!

These people unfortunately are not an anomaly; they are your modern day Democratic Party. The 2012 choice has come down to this; 4 more years of Socialism or begin rebuilding what we once were and can be again if Capitalism triumphs!

It is disheartening to see this crowd and hear them speak. I also hope this is just a fringe far left group. I heard a girl speak that had her masters from Columbia but lived off two inheritances, one from her grandfather and one from her father! She should donate her income to the government according to her beliefs! The class today is excellent as was our breakfast.

See you at the inn.

This whole "wall street" protest is absurd. Look at the demise of the USSR, look at the U.K. they have been fighting amongst each other for decades. I totally agree with Pino. If they want commie/socialism go to Cuba where it is at it's finest. A tent will be a luxury there, as will be the food and toiletries that have been donated to them for their "cause".

Hxprof Level 3 Commenter 7 months ago

As usual you're right on target. Many of those protesting as part of the occupy Wall Street thingy are suffering from 'entitlement syndrome'. And right again that unions have been BIG promoters of this syndrome.

Some protesters are genuine, though I think they're wasting their time-entirely. Corporate greed is rampant, just like union greed. Human greed is rampant-and that's where the protesters may want to focus. Sure, point out the obvious regards corporate greed, but the fact is corporate greed wouldn't exist if it's root, human greed, was eliminated.

That's where there's hypocrisy: failure to see their own greed while protesting against the greed of others.

Sad to say that these people aren't aberations. The same type of greed exists in ALL of America's treasured institutions. I'll add that most of our churches suffer under the thumb of leaders who are using the flock for their own gain, for their own appetites.

We're looking at greed run amuck.

Great hub! How about the kid on his knees in front of Chase bank crying that his parents' home is being foreclosed on and then, when the truth came out, he is some rich kid whose family is doing quite well, no foreclosure, just the kid, another lying moron stinking up the streets of New York. This isn't just ignorance. It is vicious and stupid and our gov't is happily behind it. Fools. Scummy little freaks! There, I feel better.

Dear Hxprof,

The one thing I am certain of is that given the chance some of these protesters would jump at a chance to work for these "greedy" corporations. Others simply don't want to work. Others are using the others and on and on it goes. It is time for them to pack it in and go home before this turns ugly and violent. There are some people there who are looking forward to the outcome I just described. See you at the Inn. We need to catch up.
