American Egg Scramble on Manic Monday
58Flip-Flop
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, February 22, 2010. I hope everyone had a relaxing week-end, but now it's back to business. As usual we have lots to discuss on this Manic day, so let's prepare an American Egg Scramble and shoot the breeze. You will need 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon butter,1 tablespoon grated cheddar cheese, 1 tablespoon each of chopped tomatoes, chopped onion and chopped green bell pepper. Crack eggs in a medium size bowl and beat well. Gently stir in all other ingredients. Cook mixture in a small skillet over low heat until eggs are as firm as you like them. Make yourself a steaming hot cup of coffee or a Bloody Mary and put your feet up. I'm feeling a bit cranky and it's the President's fault.
There is so much animosity in the air, and on the air-waves and I can't help but blame the President and his band of stubborn Democrats for the problem. In a recent speech at a Denver fund-raiser President Obama asserted that the Senate doesn't get anything done because there are some Republicans who don't believe in government and are happy to block the administration's initiatives because to do so "is consistent with their philosophy". Quite a charge and quite a mouthful from a President who just last October told the American people that his administration and Congress had accomplished so much that if they stopped that day, the legislative session would still have been the most productive in a generation! If you check out the White House website you will see a long list of legislative accomplishments. So the question remains, what is the President talking about?
Clearly, he is talking about health care legislation because that appears to be the only thing on his mind. Despite any remarks to the contrary, it's health care that fuels his engine and he will not rest until a bill, any bill is rammed down our throats despite our obvious desire to stop the train and start over.
This administration and those that support it are all about sharp and sharp-tongued phrases that paint an unflattering portrait of anyone or anything that stands in their way. The Republican party is the now the party of "NO". The people who oppose Washington's policies are no longer citizens expressing their right to free speech, but rather are tea bagging troublemakers. Gone is the civility that once had a place in Washington. Gone is the era of truthful reporting of the news. Bias rules the newspapers and the television and truth is missing in action.
The bottom line is this. The American people have a point of view and they want their voices heard by those who are charged to represent them. The President works for us, our Senators work for us, our Representatives work for us and yet, we have been shut out of the Democratic process along with the Republicans. Failure to pass health care reform does not represent failure at all. Rather, it represents the people's dislike of the plan in its current form. We are not required to accept legislation that we do not want and we have every right to fight hard to see it defeated.
Perhaps the President and the Democrats need to be reminded about how a Democratic Republic really works. Perhaps they should go back to the wise words of the founding fathers for a quick course on the meaning of liberty. Our system is working quite well. Dissent is healthy, protest is healthy and those that speak out should be applauded for their elegant display of the true meaning of democracy.
Now if only the President would remember his proper role and start leading the country, not part of the country but all of it...POP...
BPop nothing I can debate here.I just sincerely hope at some point in time these guys can get it togetherand come up with a plan that includes the approval of us citizens. November draws closer though, we will be heard then !
Forget about the democratic republic for now. We will know where we all stand come this November. Depending on the vote, we will know if we begin to take our country back or not. The problem is until then, Obumma and his thugs in Congress and working for him in the White House will be trying to ram, or will have rammed, some bad legislation down our throats. Hopefully, we can stop them. However, they have time to instill in the minds of the morons in this country that the Republicans are the party of NO. I think time is on their side. If one looks at the amount of stimulus money paid out, there is still $500 billion to go, and that could go to districts where the Demorats are in trouble. Too much time. There is not enough Jack Daniel's on the planet.BARTENDER..............

Healthcare legislation is the only thing on his mind; he’s absolutely obsessed with it. He envisions himself as the only President that was able to move America out of the era of barbarism into the light in which it finally, after these 200 plus years, began to take care of its’ citizens. Of course in doing so he also topples her from atop the perch of greatness down into the ashes of all the other great civilizations that fell from within before. Such is the mission of all Committed Marxist/Socialists!
All this administration has is sharp-tongued phrases that paint an unflattering portrait of anyone or anything that stands in their way. They are afraid; and rightfully so to engage in a legitimate debate about the facts of any of their agenda items.
Let’s see, the Health Care Debate goes something like this; you want me to give up my current plan; pay higher taxes in order to cover illegal aliens; pay for the increases in Medicare cost for the citizens of Louisiana, Nebraska and members of Organized Labor; agree to rationed healthcare; agree to drive further to find a Dr. since most will leave the country, agree to death panels who will advise me to seek end of life counseling instead of getting the needed treatment which could extend my life for a few more years; agree to sit in a wheel chair instead of getting the hip replacement which would allow me to continue walking because I’m over 60…..all this and if I say no then I’m being selfish and an obstructionists!
The Democrats are for Civility; by their definition Civility means you capitulate and give up all you stand for and agree with me. I need your cover so if my Marxist Socialist Agenda implodes I’ll have cover to say; the Republicans agreed to do this; it’s not all my fault; whaaaa-whaaaa-whaaaa!
Hopefully the President and the Democrats will be reminded about how a Democratic Republic really works come November. But I am leery of a population that cheered and hollered as Bush stood on that pile of rubble that once was the World Trade Center and proclaimed I hear you and soon those responsible for this will also hear you. The over the next several years as he went about enforcing his proclamation, many of those that cheered turned on him and ushered in this Disgrace of a President we now have!
Dear POP,
I am foregoing the eggy breakfast this morning as I am trying to watch my cholesterol and instead am enjoying my vitamuffin (better than an apple!) and washing it down with a bloody mary while my toddler enjoys Sesame Street... I cannot fathom the notion that in this country, discourse, dissent, disagreement is criticized, mocked, and attempted to be strong-armed into silence via insults and threats. Is "it's my way or the highway" the the motto for the new american way displacing "don't tread on me"?
In our schools, there is a movement toward teaching students to challenge things, question things instead of just sitting there like bobble headed lemmings working to only do well on the standardized tests. But boy, will these kids be in for a shock when they realize that dissent, discourse, disagreement in the real world is baaaad and that everyone is supposed to grow up to be "yes men".
Why is there so much fear in engaging in discourse, why aren't these people who love to debate reveling in the flourish of different, fresh creative ideas. Why aren't they listening to the people who are able to articulate what is going on on the front lines, who are bringing to the table anecdotal evidence of the state of affairs, as they see it...
This thug mentality is intolerable. His ear is not open to that of the people, only to "his" people and it smacks of "un-democracy" if anything ever did. Where, except on the breakfast pop hub is the OUTRAGE?
The other day, I had a leak in my ceiling due to ice damming. As water poured from the one light fixture in my den, I contemplated many strategies...1) move out and abandon ship, 2) wait and see and gather information to formulate a calculated and strategic response to the particular problem by talking to experts in the field and other people to whom this problem has previosuly occurred, 3) burn down my house and start anew. I chose plan 2) and I beleive it worked well for me. My whole house did not need to be abandoned or destroyed, there was only one part of it that needed attention. So I attended to it. I called experts and others to weigh in on different strategies and then was able to formulate a moderate, measured approrpiate response leaving the rest of my house, in perfectly good working order, in tact and undisturbed. The union thug neighbor of mine down the street who has been out of work for months advocated burning the house down... I am not surprised, for he and all his cronies had something to gain...
I love democracy and while yes sometimes I take it for granted when the details of my busy life distract me... but I can feel it is being eroded and it is time to shore up the dams, sandbag the shore, protect what is ours... My 6 year old is chock full of incessant questions, why does he have to go to bed at 8, why does he have to take a bath when he took one last week, why does he have to eat a vegetable, he challenges me, he calls me to task... should i call him an irrelevant teabagger or encourage him to be part of the generation devoted toprotecting our democracy and our voices?
Outstanding hub. Somehow Obama seems to have forgotten the closed locked doors when coming up with the 2700 pages. I get so sick of his line of BS. Does he think we are all stupid? Well, that makes us equal I guess, because he is an idiot. I have great hopes for the election and hope to not be disappointed.
Great hub BP, I'm not one for wishing my life away but November can't come soon enough. In our humble little district not one Democrat has decided to run for a vacant House seat.
POP, it's Good Morning Vietnam! It's time to fight the Big Government Machine that is gobbling up the peoples money and any thing set aside for retirement. It's making my monthly trust fund payout's just about insufficient. I put back enough to pay myself $750.00 per month until I reach 75, if I reach 75 is better. The Social Security would boost this amount in 4 years to what I thought would be more than enough, I am now getting a bad feeling that it's not going to cut it and I will be forced to eat more rattle snakes than I had planned on, and instead of picking up dogs that have been dumped and cleaning them up and feeding them so I can take them to town and adopt them to new homes free or for a small donation of a sack of dog food, I'll have to shoot them to save them from starving in the desert.
This old world has worn me out and I'm ready to leave just as soon as Jesus calls me home.
Until then let us move to the bar and laugh it up some and enjoy life!
Jezebel Pelosi is either in flight or prepping to return to D.C. at the cost of $60,000 dollars one way in her Air Force C-32 or better known as a Boeing 747 jet that seats 200 but it will be empty except for her stinking ass. I heard when she was born the Doc rolled her over to give her a slap on the butt to get her breathing and said "Oh Look Twins". Seriously, I could live big time with the cost of one flight for a couple years and if I was a good steward with it I could do well for 4 years or more. She and her boss need unplugged from the offices they hold. We as a nation should be screaming for impeachment of all who are embezzling our tax dollars! To the bar! Lets have some fun, I have photos of them and we can put them on the dart board and have fun with them.
Morning POP, It has been an interesting week-end, and will be an even more interesting week regarding the Health care debate. It was funny to watch Pelosi explain the over, under and ram down our throat plan, I wanted to scream. People get mad at me when I scream Socialism but then I found this article this morning: “Effective April 1, 2010, we reserve the right to require (7) days advance notice before permitting a withdrawal from all checking accounts. While we do not currently exercise this right and have not exercised it in the past, we are required by law to notify you of this change,” Citigroup said on statements received by customers all over the country.
Obama's web site taunts of the job created or saved but Ann Colter said it best: "Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has created more jobs than Mr. Obama. “She’s created at least 11 jobs fact-checking at the AP just for the Palin autobiography."
It's all about control, like Chavez, this administration is neither listening to us, nor do they care about the people. No eggs for me either, I'll go for that Bloody Mary. Keep Hubbing!
POP: Our esteemed president met with the governors of our 50 states this past week. Most of the Democratic governors are worried that he doesn't know how the people feel in this country. Most want him to by-pass healthcare legislation, and get right to jobs and the economy. The governors also want him to stop all this partisan fighting and get something done. The governors feel that is the only way they can save some of the democratic seats in the mid-election in November.
I wonder if Obama listened. I doubt it. He has his own agenda.
The people are angry, and we are just too stupid to know what's good for us. Now the Governors are worried. Are they equally as stupid? I cannot wait for the WH's take on this.
I'm off to the bar. Taxlarry, I've been hoarding JD, so don't worry. If I need to, I'll illegally mail it to you.
In the meantime, save me a seat.....
Great Hub....well written and, as usual, timely...Obama's ChicagoSpeak reminds me of the logic statement:
The statement below is true.
The statement above is false.
And I thought Clinton could parse...
Larry
Hello there friend breakfastpop. I agree with you and all. Those who hold office are there because they want to serve their country. There's nothing more or less.
I say let the president rant and point fingers. It just makes him look like the fool that he really is and the American people, the smart ones, will see it in all its glory. It's a democratic Congress. The dems control the Senate. If anyone is blocking anything, it's the dems. The republicans don't control anything.
Maybe Obama could get together with a group of those tea baggers and answer some questions.. With help from his teleprompter...
One answer to all questions..
I inherited these problems,
it was all Bush's fault..
Yup he would even need a teleprompter to remember those few words...
My Dear Pop, another one of your great hubs. To be honest I am not very wise when it comes to politics, however I am smart enought to know that Obama and everyone in washington is power hungry and wants to run their people like the, "Queen" rules her people. I am so upset just about how things have turned over my little world by our government. The senate seats should only be allowed to have a four year term then be re-elected if it is the peoples choice. Thank you dear Pop, for popping all these thoughts. Your loyal reader, dar
Congress and obama cannot get anything done because they are pushing a liberal agenda, and the country is only around 25% liberal. No one wants what they are pushing. The whole country is against their agenda. DAHHHHH
Keep on hubbing!
Good evening! I read your great words and all of the comments and I'm thinking - the Prez knows the country is broke - worse, bankrupt! - but continues to push spending bill after spending bill. I have to conclude he wants us to go under. And that is scary!
It's all about balance of power. We need to be equally represented. The quibbling in Washington DC gets so old, people stop paying attention. It's the same ol, same ol.
Morning, Pop....awesome, as usual :)

Pop,
It's all about Alinsky. The rules have changed there is no democratic republic anymore. It's all about radical transformation of America into an authoritarian state. Big Brother knows what's best for us peasants.
Can you say Tea Party?
