Bagel French Toast and a Money Grab

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Today is a school day so let's prepare some Bagel French Toast to pop in our lunch boxes. You will need 2 plain bagels, 2 large eggs, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and 1 and 1/2 tablespoons butter. Slice each bagel into thirds horizontally so you end up with 6 flat pieces. In a shallow baking dish, beat the eggs, milk and spices. Add the bagel pieces to the mixture and let them soak for 20 minutes, turning occasionally. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat and place bagel slices in pan. Fry each side until golden brown. When the bagels are done, head to the classroom. Let's sit in the back and listen to the week's lecture on taxing the people and squeezing every last dime from their empty pockets.
Welcome class and those we have invited to audit our class. Taxes is the name of the game and the subject of our class this morning. Before you know it, you will be working in our nation's capitol in many different capacities. In order to make it on the Hill you must learn the art of wringing money from a reluctant citizenry.
The first step is to establish the meaning of the word "rich". At first glance the term appears to mean having extensive material wealth. Well, in order to establish a strong tax base, you must re-define the term "rich" and lower the bar to include every miserable wretch that walks the earth and is not on welfare. Forget Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey, we are talking about the average family with a combined income of $250,000. Now that's the kind of "rich" we want to target. Completely ignore the protests of such folks when they try to tell you that they are working day and night for that money and it is not affording them the luxuries you seem to think it does. Now listen carefully, it will be your task to raise taxes on this group no matter their pleas for mercy. Don't listen to them when they tell you that college is costing them $50,000 a year and they are not entitled to student aid. Don't bat an eye when they try to tell you that child care for two children is $3,000 a month. You can't listen to this, because the government needs money and they, the not so "rich middle class" have to fork it over.
Take a lesson from what is going on currently in our society. Notice how skillfully President Obama is pitting one group of citizens against another. We now have the Wall Street Fat Cats vs. the Poor Losers who can't find a job. The President and the Democrats are quite adept at driving home the evils of the so-called rich. You must learn from them if you are going to be succesful in Washington. Class warfare is king.
Now let's talk honestly for a moment. You will be printing money that you don't have. The Obama model of governing calls for the buildup of massive deficits. You must continue to blame George Bush for the deficits. Now given the appalling state of affairs that we have now and that you will face as well, you will need to increase your tax base because the government has no money and some of the people do. Therefore, it follows that those who were once considered middle class are now considered wealthy. Bingo, you tell the nation that everyone has to contribute their fair share and you tax the middle class. After the iinitial shock and outrage, you can then lower the bar to include all those earning combined incomes of $200,000 and then $150,000 and so on. Your cut-off point should be about $44,000 a year for a family of four.
One other area I would like to cover today concerns budget freezes. The term "freeze" is quite descriptive and should be used in times of crisis. Pick a few meaningless things in the budget and tell the nation that you are freezing expenditures at this level. Never mind that the level is the highest in history, just say it and do it and the "people" will not catch on to the flim-flam game you're playing.
Let the President's actions inspire your future work on behalf of the nation. President Obama is sending Congress a 3.8 trillion budget that will increase spending, boost taxes on the middle class and freeze spending on a few government programs. This should be your mantra. "Spend money recklessly, boost taxes mercilessly and freeze hardly anything. It's a formula that works, memorize it and live it and you will make it on the HIll.

It looks like the morons in Congress passed this class as well as the other classes we've auditied in the past few weeks. There is not one person, from either party that I have heard or read that has the guts to stand up and say "Enough of the spending. The debt is too high!" The only thing they can do is tax and spend, tax and spend. And they know how to spend. Just check on Pelosi's government charter flights she takes. They all feel entitled and that the piggy bank is a bottomless pit of money. They are clueless as to economics. They are no different than the homeowners who took out bad mrotgages they can't pay down. Only they don't rea;ize that. China is footing their spending sprees. The moron in the White House and the morons in Congress should all be impeached for spending, spending, spending and dropping trillions of debt on our children, grand children and children not yet born. They are criminals who have broken open the piggy bank and then stole daddy's credit cards. Just look at their faces. Obumma the Arrogant, Reid the Jerk, Pelosi the Idiot. I don't know if there will be a country left by November. Move the elections to April so we can throw them out! Wow, I have certainly worked up a thirst. POP:Another good class! If we need to raise money fast, I think the IRS should go after all the Congressmen & women who are behind in their taxes! Why aren't they paying up?
The budget freeze doesn't make sense. We've increased the debt ceiling, and now next year, we will reduce spending by less than the increase. Good Job Obama. Where did he learn math?
I have a birthday coming up, and what I'd really like is that printer and some paper that the government is using.
Everything I ever learned about spending less than you make, etc. is out the window now.
Anyway, I'm off to the bar - I need one after this class - save me a seat...
BPOP, Another informative class and so true. Many people with S corporations make year $250,000, but they pay all their business expenses, so their net is nowhere near that mcuh. I agree with Taxlarry and I think Pino has a point about audits for Congressmen. There freeze is a joke. Great hub.

You have a great idea. Let's make sure the tax cheats in Congress pay up and that should make a huge dent in the deficit. Then we should go after those companies that tell people who haven't paid taxes in years, not to worry because they will work out a deal for them. It's great, owe 1 million, pay one hundred dollars. Pelosi's charter flights mentioned are freeking unbelievable I have a mail with the details but can't post it here due to no rich formats or attachments. I'll forward it later.
Spending is the only Bi-partisan act that they can perform on the hill, they all think they are entitled to the exuberant meals and lodgings that they have and most Americans will never experience as we can barely get by on perdiem (is that the right word for room and board daily allowance?)levels set by the IRS that is deductible for business travel away from home. They spend 2 weeks of what we are allowed probably, if not more, one one nights room and then the meals, I have been to places only one or two times that draw $100.00 per plate at breakfast time. Was the Eggs Benedict worth that kind of pocket change? Well they were better than Denny's but I could have had 16 orders of them at Denny's. The coffee was great but was it 10 dollars a cup good, nope. It is just flat time that we real these A holes in from their wasteful spending and the first place I'd go is where THEY feel it personally, in their pockets. Working the pipe lines as a welder, I got 75 bucks an hour for me and my truck, but at quitting time the motel and the food all came out of my pocket. Both sides of the isle need to start forking over at quitting time just like any other American, I believe they would start looking for a Day's Inn to spend their nights in and a budget driven place to eat and drink. It's plain ridiculous what they get away with. These are the folks that think when they have a million dollars they are broke, they need to experience the $8.00 end of the month broke, then they could get a grip. I'm not complaining, I don't miss many meals and I'm thankful for that, but I'm not thankful to them. 'nuff said

Thanks for trying to come to breakfast. I wrote hubpages about the problem, but who knows how long it will take to get resolved. I am not getting e-mails telling me about comments left on the hubs. It's a mess. Speaking of messes that's what we have in Washington. I read that when our representatives (HA) went to Copenhagen they spent 2200 dollars a day on room and board. The unspeakable nerve of these people. And then we have the audacity of Rangel talking about taxes and the IRS. What a sick joke! The fools in Washington are completely disconnected from the real world and that is exactly how they want to keep things. They have no idea how people really live and furthermore, they could care less. Let's meet later at the bar and figure out a way to wake them up from their prolonged coma....
I will be subscribing to this administrations economic lesson. If I spend spend and spend and borrow against all my credit cards to max them out , then I can tap my parents , sibling and friends for money (instead of having to help them) Don't get me wrong I'll sacrifice and cut back on my beer consumption. My brother who is an ER doc in South Carolina has said he will cut his work hours back when Barry finally decides the amount of income that qualifies you to be one of the evil rich. He already pays more than his fair share to help support the deadbeats!!

Morning POP. I decided to help to help Congress with the spending freeze. If they have no money coming in they can't spend it, so let's all stop paying taxes, period. What can they do, throw us all in jail? Maybe Piglosi should give up her new jet, and Nobama should cut back on his vacations, and Rangle should go to jail with the other tax cheats. Bah Humbug on this craziness.

Thanks for the tip about the e-mail. I hope everyone checks their profile. As far as Obama is concerned, he should look no further than Washington DC to cut spending. I understand he is planning a family trip to Indonesia to show the kids where he went to school. How touching. Maybe he'll show them the house he was born in, as well. Pelosi is a disgrace who is costing us a ton of money every single week. Frankly, they may have to build a new jail to house all the cheats in Congress.

Marxism holds that the middle class will eventually disappear, as the world is polarized between a few large business owners and the masses of the proletariat. Small and independent businesses would disappear, and most of the middle class would be pedestrianized. The middle class was always a sticking point for Marx because Marx knew that he could not achieve his socialist end-state with a middle class in place — he had to drive the middle class into the proletariat. How do you do that..? You remove the incentive for acquiring wealth by heavily taxing that wealth and providing a dependency on government for needed services such as higher education and child care...the bourgeoisie are the enemy of Socialism...Free minds and free markets are its death knell...

I fear taxes and more taxes is just the tip of the iceberg. I'm still reeling from Geithner's saying to Congress the other day about the effect of the tax cut expiration, "this only affects about 2% of small businesses." Considering that recent numbers put the number of small businesses at around 29,000,000, that means ONLY 580,000 of them will be affected. Only? And so, what if only 580,000 small businesses lay off 1 employee? Or two? And just considering Geithner's ESTIMATION that it will only affect 2% of small business, when is the last time anyone in government got an estimation right?

Hi breakfastpop, I have missed everyone! It seems like i have been gone forever, but it has only been two months, two very long, hard months. My father passed away Jan 23rd after entering into the hospital on Thanksgiving day. I was at his bedside nearly the entire time and the hospital was not computer friendly :( Now that all is calming down and I am getting back into a somewhat normal life again, I am back. :)
I have decided to freeze my expenditures and see how the government likes it! Fair is fair, Right? I have a budget too, and it is at a deficit point too, so too bad--they loose :)

Pops I have to hand it to you, you are a gem. I get more info from you that I understand then any media out there because the truth is watered with deception. CBN News is right on but they are hard to catch. They speak up for the people and they speak truth. Thank you for your hard work and making my life easier. You are a God send. Honestly - I'm probably going to hang up my Hubbing Hat - you say it all Pop! YOU SAY IT ALL! The Taxacratics will hopefully be all out of office in the next few elections and maybe - with some new people and TERM LIMITS we can get this country back. And I don't mean necessarily the Republicans either because there's a bunch of them that need a good smack. We need adults to take control. Maybe - we can get back to running this country based on that old document that the "progressives" and secretly wish to destroy -- the constitution!
