Banana Cream Toast on a School Day

Don't Tell!

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, December 28, 2011. School is in session this morning and Prof. Spreadthebull is lecturing about "The Art of Fooling the Electorate". Let's prepare some delicious Banana Cream French Toast, load up our breakfast box and thermos and head for class.

For the toast you will need 8 slices of white bread, 4 large eggs, 1 cup milk, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla and butter for frying. For the topping you will need 2 ripe, sliced bananas, 3/4 cup whipping cream, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice.

Let's prepare the topping first. In a medium saucepan combine bananas, orange juice, sugar and lemon. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until the bananas get very soft. With a slotted spoon, transfer bananas to a blender. Add 1/4 cup liquid from the saucepan and puree until smooth. Cover with plastic wrap and chill until cold. You are going to be late for class so I suggest you fill your thermos with an Irish Coffee and have breakfast later. When you return from class, beat whipping cream until it forms stiff peaks and then add it to the banana mixture.

To make the toast simply whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla. Dip bread into egg mixture. Melt butter in a skillet and cook slices until golden brown. Top toast with a generous dollop of banana cream. Add some banana slices for garnish. In the meantime, head for class. Bring a notebook and pencil.

Welcome to class students. Congress has come through the latest impasse by passing a 2 month extension of the payroll tax cut. The outcome is a perfect example of what it means to lead without having an ounce of common sense. It also affords us a marvelous opportunity to see how easy it is to manipulate the public and whip them up emotionally.

President Obama was very clever when he asked Americans to explain what 40 dollars means to them. We all know that to the president it means supplying BO with large dog bones. To the rest of the nation, judging by all the cards and letters flowing into the White House, according to the White House, it meant everything from being able to have pizza once in a while to being able to buy insulin. The White House reported that it received over 18,000 admissions on a form presented on Whitehouse.gov.

Whatever you do, never make the connection between the payroll tax cuts and funding Social Security because if you do it may give people something to think about. We don't want to encourage thinking. We want raw emotion. You must keep the fact that the cuts rob money from the Social Security Tax Fund completely to yourself. Heck we've done that exact thing before, why not keep doing it. If the government hadn't taken the money from the fund in the first place Social Security might not be teetering on the verge of bankruptcy. Never allow the truth to come from your lips. Just hold fast to the fact that the greedy Republicans don't want to see you putting food in your toddler's mouth. Trust me on this, it works. In fact, it works like a charm. After all the proof is in the pudding. The Republicans caved and Americans now have 2 more months of pizza nights. Life is good! Of course, those people currently receiving Social Security benefits may be in deep trouble. Oh well, you can't please everybody.

I think that I have given you plenty to think about for now. Remember, serving the public is a noble thing. Deceiving the public is glorious. CLASS DISMISSED...POP...

Pop and Professor,

Very insightful to point out that Obama has come across a new way to bankrupt the nation while appearing to support tax relief for the middle class. It's a Progressive dream, interrupt the revenue stream to Social Security and get the future recipients to be thankful. Oh my whishers, I'm late for a very important date through the looking glass.

It's almost 2012 Pop, we must save ourselves in November, I'm buying.

Good morning Tom,

No question about it, common sense and the ability to actually solve a problem is dead, dead, dead. Here we go once more raising the debt ceiling. I am off to the bar. Right now, it is the best place for me.

These people don't need smoke and mirrors. Lies and deceit will work fine. The absurdity of passing a two month extension rather than a year is criminal. How can business plan for the year when it matches the social security withheld from its emplyeees? So congress comes back into session and will either extend the payroll tax cut to the end of 2012 or not. Why wait? There are a lot of morons in congress. See ya at the bar. BARTENDER.........

Good morning tqaxlarry,

All I can say is that I am already at the bar. That says it all!

Dear taxlarry,

So sorry for screwing up your name. Drinks are on me!

POP: Obama wanted the tax cuts for another year, and then (not than) he flip flopped to two months. The only reason for such a change, I believe, is so he can really have a field day with his State of the Union address. Can you think of another reason? I believe it was Johnson who signed the bill to start "borrowing" from Social Security. Didn't one Congressman think we'd have to pay it back someday? Congress lives in la-la-land.

I'm off to the bar, Tom's buying, so I would like to sit next to him. Save me a seat.....

Good morning Pino,

This is all about perception and politics and once again Congress does not have a viable means of paying for it. They'll just rob Social Security and pat themselves on the back. I'm already at the bar. Where are you?

POP: I'm sitting next to Tom.....

Dear Pino,

You must be in a secluded corner, because I can't find you. Who are you, Runaround Sue!

The amount of Social Security that a recipient gets is based on several factors, including his own contributions. All those who are currently getting 'tax' relief on Social Security may well later lose some of their Social Security income due to this!

BTW, Democrats have always insisted that Social Security and Medicare deductions are not taxes! They have always claimed they are 'contributions' to your own account!

But now (when it suits their purposes) they blithely call them 'taxes'.

BPOP - Screw a bunch of pizza (now there's an idea!). Those of us who own small businesses, you know the job creators, now have one heck of a book keeping nightmare, plus the uncertainty of what those bickering idiots up there will pull out of their dumb asses next. It's time to sweep the whole lot of them out.

Dear Will,

Okay, then if they are not taxes but contributions to my account, I can charge them with theft! See you at the Inn.

Dear Frog Prince,

This is all about politics and perception is definitely in the eyes of the beholder. There are way too many people out there who can't understand the connection between this, business, social security and medicare. It is money in their pocket and that sounds good. Paying for it is unimportant. See you at the Inn.

I think the comments have already covered everything I would have to say. Obama is manipulating many things right now and everything he says has ulterior motives aimed at his re-election campaign.

Dear Pamela,

We have so many unsolved problems and our president is totally concentrating on the campaign. It's ridiculous and embarrassing. See you at the Inn.

bp - The 2-month extension of the payroll tax cut is a product of the same great Congressional minds that supported the stimulus effort that Obama is always taking credit for. Doesn't he realize that the $787 BILLION (Labor Dept. figure) that was spent to produce 1.5 million jobs cost more than $500,000 per job? How long can we afford to keep these bozos in D.C.?

Whoa! What a great idea.

I've read some news articles and some Hubs stating that the Social Security Fund has no predators, but you have shown how incorrect that writing is.

Good morning drbj,

We can't afford to keep the "bozos" in Washington. This Congress is a fiasco and there are so many people there that are beyond the pale, Nancy Pelosi being a prime example. When you believe that unemployment benefits create jobs it's time to go home.

Good morning Will,

I say let's do it!

Good morning Patty,

The government has been stealing from that fund for a long time and the fact that it is in dire straits is entirely their fault.
