Basic French Toast and Basic Common Sense
61Power To The People
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, September 7, 2009. Today is Common Sense Monday and our breakfast choice will be a basic, no nonsense french toast. If you want to join me, you will need 10-12 slices of white bread, 1 cup milk, 4 large eggs, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, butter, and maple syrup. Break eggs into a shallow wide bowl and beat lightly. Add sugar, salt and milk. Melt butter in a skillet over med-low heat. Place bread slices, one at a time, into bowl and let bread soak up egg mixture. Place slices in skillet and brown on both sides. Serve with maple syrup. This is a very simple, basic recipe and I chose it because the time has come for this country to get back to basics and to embrace the principles of common sense.
Common sense dictates that the green czar, Van Jones, should have been fired and not given the privilege of stating that he was resigning. His comments about a "smear campaign" being launched against him is indicative of the mental state of this man. Mr. Jones, let me enlighten you, if I may. Your outrageous statements and behavior were captured on video for all the world to see. It is best if you just go away quietly. Common sense also tells me that this is not likely to happen. Chances are we will be hearing from you and about you in the future.
Our elected representatives have displayed an appalling lack of common sense. They gave Van Jones a pass. We, on the other hand, rolled up our sleeves and did some digging. This is a democratic republic. We don't tolerate communists or radicals and Van Jones had to go. Common sense prevailed and so did the people. One other thing, the talk has already started about the lack of a vetting process that presumably allowed Mr. Jones to slip through the cracks. Van Jones did not slip through anything. He was chosen for his position, because of his background and not in spite of it. When a video is available showing Valerie Jarrett, President Obama's closest advisor, introducing Van Jones and stating that "we have been following Mr. Jones for a very long time and are so proud to have him join us", common sense dictates that they vetted him and liked what they saw.
Common sense dictates that if the people are upset about a proposed Presidential speech directed at our children, then that speech should be cancelled. The President has made us all very nervous about his intentions with this event. Common sense tells us why. The President has released a menu of activities for the schools to follow. It is suggested that the students read books about the President, written by the President or written by others. Common sense tells me that this speech is more about President Obama than it is about our nation's children. Common sense also begs the question, "what have you accomplished that warrants a book being written by you or about you?" A tad bit arrogant, in my opinion.
The speech has made a great many parents and educators uneasy. Cancel the speech. It's the common sense thing to do.
Common sense strongly suggests that President Obama dismantle his czar government. Slowly but surely, many of them will come under fire, as did Van Jones, and upon investigation they will be found lacking in the kind of qualities we require in people who lead. The President has created a government within a government and common sense dictates that this is a violation of our constitutional rights.
One last thing. Common sense makes me wonder how it came to pass that this President and his czars came into office prepared to dismantle our institutions, our freedoms, our economy and now our family. Common sense tells me that these transformations were in the "works" for a very long time. This explains the amount of "change" which has been proposed and it also explains the rush to do it. Common sense tells me that there is something terribly, terribly wrong....POP...
AMEN!!!!! One czar gone, 44 more to go. It is 44, isn't it? I've lost count.
POP:
First, kudos to you and others who took the time to expose Van Jones for what he really is. Spreading the truth lead to his resignation. Mr. Jones may think it is a smear campaign against him. He spoke publically. "Common Sense" says that if you don't want anyone to know your real thoughts, then don't speak in a public forum for all to hear.
Second, They say that behind every man is a woman - in this case it is Valerie Jarrett. She hired Michelle Obama when she was engaged to Barack and has known them for many years.
I believe she is running the show behind the scenes. She has been called his consigliere, by the New York Times Magazine, and that means "power" to me. "Common Sense" tells me to watch out for her.
Third, POP, thank you for writing your hub on a holiday. I was afraid you were taking the day off. Three days in a row without your hub is too much to take.
Common sense, the krptonite of the educated! It never ceases to amaze me that those who claim to be superior lack such an ordinary thing. Common sense tells me that Jones was told to resign and did so in the wee morning hours to lessen the press coverage, but common sense should tell Obama that those little tricks are being watched for and he should be more upfront with his agenda! Common sense also tells me that liars like Obama can never be truthful!
Another well "mixed" hub, paring the crap away from the truth. Some of us should be designated as "must reads" on the adminstrative and congressional reading list. You make the grade, as well as a pretty good breakfast. well done.
But I need a cook!
A 'common sense politician' seems to be an oxymoron these days! It is appauling that Van Jones was asked to be part of Obama's administration. They knew EXACTLY what he was all about and chose him any way. Glad he is gone.

What has happened that we can't trust our President to talk to our children? This is a very sad state of affair. Generally we encourage and look forward when a president want to take time off his agenda and talk to our children. But not now.
There is a definite problem! I am sad and so offended that the situation has got this bad. It is sickening! Something must be done!
Keep on Hubbing!
Why would his appointment be a surprise? His campaign friends gave him away..Reverend Wright, Bill Ayres..The American people need to learn and believe what they see in our political candidates before electing them.
Let's toast to common sense.
Dear taxlarry,,
Take heart...I believe we are making a difference. Your first drink is on me!
Dear americhick,
Couldn't agree more. It is ridiculous to assume that "they" had no idea what Van Jones was about. They clearly liked what they saw.
Dear Carol,
One down, many, many more to go!
Dear Carol,
One down, many, many more to go!
Dear Francine19,
The problem is that people hear the truth and choose to disregard it. Anyone with access to a computer could have discovered all they needed to know about Van Jones.
Clearly, main stream media was not the least bit upset about his past.
Dear Pino Krisio,
You are too kind. Actually I published this Hub early this a.m. I went to the Yankee game and had to leave very early. Four million hours later, I returned after a grueling trip to the stadium and hours of traveling. Thank you or your kind words. You are right about Valerie Jarrett. We are probably marching to her tune.
Dear eovery,
The problem is quite simple. We do not trust this man. We feel he has a secret un-American agenda. Given the present state of affairs, talking to our children should not be number one on his agenda.
Dear readytoescape,
Thanks for the compliment. I would be delighted to cook for you anytime.
Dear Texan
Yes, you are right , Van Jones was told to resign, but I still think he should have been fired. Of course I realize that his resignation was a big show. In any case, I am glad he is gone.
Breakfast, great as usual. What concerns me still is that Van Jones has not left the admin he is still retained as an advisor. And is it just me, but what does it say about a President who did not ask him to resign, and did not fire him. He should at least act like he's outraged, or maybe read it off the teleprompter.
Pop... You are right he had to go, to bad it was not to Mars so he could no longer abuse the freedom that our soldiers that have given the ultimate sacrifice provides us today…
Dan
Thanks for sharing recipe of french toast. I have never tried any European recipe. I hope this is going to be the first that i am going to try. let me tell you that I am an amateur cook
Keep beating the drum Pop. We have got to awaken the uninformed and the uninvolved. I hope we can save our nation from this attack upon it from within!
And I thought this was going to be about French Toast. Common sense would tell one not to eat it because it's just sugar and fat. Hard to know what the Government is really doing because we only get spoon fed (pun intended) from whatever they tell the media to feed us.
Pop-- thanks for reading my latest and leaving a comment. It was pretty exciting that we (the bloggers) were able to help expose the truth and unload one of the czars. We need to re-dedicate ourselves and keep protecting our way of life.
Agreed Poop, this is just the beginning. Mark Llyodd should be next on the DE-Czar list, he is working to control and silence conservatives using the FCC to quiet the voices of talk radio and the sound words of internet blogging.
But first on the list as the Government returns from its Hiatus should be unemployment and the resulting foreclosure ramafications which will turn into an American nightmare. Please read these posts, I know Pop has, and thanks for the comments Pop.

Everyone keep writing, as we do the numbers of the uninformed dwindle, a fact that seems well documented by the falling poll numbers.
OOPS! sorry bout that
LSWGB,
This was written about a year before I knew what a hub or a blog was little sister. Everything I write about is based on common sense. Come to find, out my little sister was talking common sence before I had any. You-Are-Awesome!

There is no common sense in our government. Surely the president doesn't have it and Congress doesn't have it. It went away last November. However, the biggest absence of common sense is with the voting public. After seeing a second government formed with the czars, the taking over of the auto industry, the stimulus package that is not working but raised the national debt, the health care fiasco, the attempt to brainwash children, people are still supporting this awful administration. I don't get it. BARTENDER.......
