Breakfast In A Mug and the Professor
57A Disgrace
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Prof. Stopthebull is lecturing this morning and the subject is Associate Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the U.S. Constitution. Let's prepare Breakfast In A Mug and head for class. The professor is all fired up.
You will need 2 teaspoons butter, 1 tablespoon milk, 2 large eggs, salt and pepper to taste and 2 tablespoons shredded cheese.
Place the butter in a 12 ounce microwave safe mug. Microwave on high for 20 seconds until the butter is melted and sizzling. Add the milk, eggs, salt and pepper and mix. Microwave on high for 30 seconds more, until eggs just begin to set. Stir with a fork and microwave for another 30 seconds until egg is almost completely set.
Remove from microwave and sprinkle with cheese. Grab your mug, your notebook and a pencil and I'll see you in class.
Welcome students. I want to jump right in here this morning. Last week United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg gave an interview that aired on Egyptian television. She advised the Egyptian's against using the U.S. Constitution as a guide for creating their own Constitution in their attempt at democratic self governance. Justice Ginsburg explained that, in her view, our Constitution was too old and that the Egyptians would be better served to look to Canada or South Africa for Constitutions that were modern and perfect.
If you aren't shocked and appalled, you should be. Justice Ginsburg took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Clearly, judging by her statements to the Egyptians, the oath she took was in words only and not in spirit. I think she has outworn her welcome on the Court. If she is unwilling and unable to uphold her oath then it is time for her to go.
Of course there are many others who feel the same way and President Obama is no doubt one of them. To many on the left, the Constitution is an old document that no longer speaks to the issues of modern times and is way too difficult to amend. Those who feel this way want the Constitution to protect the entitlement to food, education, health care as well as a host of other "rights."
There is a huge difference between "rights" like freedom of speech and religion and "entitlements" like welfare, food stamps and free health care. The Founding Fathers were trying to prevent the federal government from dominating the life of every citizen. Apparently Justice Ginsburg and President Obama find the Founding Fathers protections for the people a barrier for instituting the kind of "change" they see as good for us.
God Bless the Founding Fathers and shame on those in positions of power who see fit to brand the Constitution as old and irrelevant. "We the people" deserve better than that. Above deserving better, we had better demand better. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance...Class Dismissed...POP

We walk nearer to the edge all the time, Poppy. We have a president who trashes the constitution at every turn and soon we may have a majority opinion in the court which reflects the same atttiude. This totally undermines the system of checks and balances and opens the door to tyranny...right down Obama's alley. WB
POP: There is a reason why it is difficult to change the Constitution. Is it perfect? no. I doubt that Canada and South Africa have attained perfection as well.
We the People rule this land - until now, when we have a seudo-dictator trying anything to have his way. Welfare, and Food Stamps are not rights; they should have been short-term assistance, while one of our citizens were in need. Now we have generational welfare recipients, all who have cell phones and cars, while they do not work. If they had to turn in their cell phones to get food stamps, you'd see a change in their thinking. I'm off subject, sorry. Back to Ginsberg. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but Ruth is 78 years old. She looks 99. Is she part of the highest bench of our land too long? If she cannot support our laws of the land, then she needs to go. But will she? I doubt it.
Obama needs her.
I'm crazed by this, and need to calm down at the bar. I'm sitting with Prof. Stopthebull, and Scotty, who will be whispering in my ear, since he will be invisible. Save me a seat....
When I hear and read some of the crazy, stupid, dumb things that our leader and a Justice of the Supreme Court say and do, I fell like I am living in some alternative universe. What happened to good sense, integrity and the ethos of our Constitution? Now I really need that drink, bp.
I had heard about this Pop - why isn't there some way to unseat a Supreme Court Judge when something like this happens? This is a total disgrace and of course - the main media won't breathe a word of it. We are in dire straights in this country - and I'm so grateful for people like you who keep sounding the warning bell to keep the populace informed!
BPOP - There is a reason Ginsburg is known as the most far left wing loon on the SCOTUS. She did a magnificent job of fortifying that position.
Not writing today.
The Frog
Little Sister with Giant Brain,
Simply amazing. I have no words.

Morning POP...I understand why Justice Ginsberg does not appreciate the greatness of our Constitution. Our Constitution does not seek to protect liberty by laying out all the rights due to its citizens. Instead it seeks to protect liberty by separating power and limiting the powers government can exercise. Liberals don't like this because it prevents them from acting "on behalf of the people."... Of course Justice Ginsberg would prefer Egypt not to adopt such a Constitution.
What's pathetic is that Justice Ginsberg actually thinks that the Egyptians are interested in human rights...not to mention that they are most unlikely to accept any suggestions from a woman, let alone one named Ruth Bader Ginsberg...
See you at the tavern, Pop...We have some catching up to do...Larry
There should be an Indian uprising - the US Constitution, still very good in 2012, was influenced by the Iroquois Constitution, older and still very good in 2012. Ginsberg must wish to have a disposable constitution, like paper towels from the Dollar Store.
Yippee!
IF they truly honor their oaths and truly believe that our current Constitution is flawed, THEN they should be doing everything possible to put forth amendments or to call a Constitutional convention.
We are in a Constitutional Crisis and their have been many ideas put forward regarding what needs to change, but nobody seems to be capable of actually getting the process for Constitutional change started. It's not that difficult, agree to put the proposals before the States, and have them go through the ratification (and coming to consensus) process.
Good morning BPOP! I feel like a teenager that calls up the radio station to request a song and then they actually play it! Thank you for this hub. Without a doubt the lame stream media knows nothing of this, not that they would care except to exhault in joy. Thank you so much for addressing this topic and thanks for taking requests (like a piano player at a piano bar)!
Most excellent and articulate. I voted up and more!
The most precious protection guaranteed by our Constitution is our freedom/liberty, but that's the one guarantee that the federal government is ignoring.
Barack Obama is our president, not our king.

Pop and Professor,
I feel like you in that these things make my blood boil. Ginsberg is one of those who "looks to foreign law' in her decisions. I think "looking to foreign law" in decisions and recommending "other" constitutions should be impeachable offences for Justices.
