Breakfast Nachos and a Fairy Tale

Where's Miss Piggy?

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Fairy Tale Friday, November 4, in the year of our kingdom 2011. I have some astonishing news to share with all of you concerning our problems with the nation of Pakistan. Let's prepare our morning repast and head for the little village that sits beside the River of Tall Stories.

This morn we will be creating Breakfast Nachos. You will need to go to your pantry and gather together 3/4 pound of chorizo, 4 large eggs, 3 handfuls of tortilla chips, 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, 1 small diced onion, 3 tablespoons butter, 1 tablespoon water, salsa and a pinch of salt.

Heat your hearth to 350 degrees. In a large skillet over medium high heat, fry the chorizo. When browned, remove from skillet and drain. Set aside.

Reduce the temperature of your stove-top hearth and saute onions for about 10 minutes until carmelized. You can use the fat from the chorizo for this.

Prepare a large casserole dish by coating the bottom and sides with butter. Place the dish in the oven to pre-heat.

In a mixing bowl, beat eggs with water and a pinch of salt. Add sausage and combine.

Remove the baking dish from the oven and add mixture. Top with tortilla chips, enough to create a thick layer above the egg mixture. Layer the cooked onion and cheese on top of the chips.

Bake in your hearth for 8-10 minutes until eggs are set. Top with salsa. Wrap up the dish and head for the village. I'll be waiting with Bloody Marys for one and all.

Hello everyone. I have great news. We no longer have to worry about the dual role Pakistan plays with regard to the war on terror. Pakistan has long been a breeding ground for terrorists and a safe haven for them to hide in plain sight or in the creepy caves that abound. We also like to treat them as our friends.

Our kingdom is going to change the hearts and minds of young Pakastani children. No longer will these children emerge from their madrassas filled with hatred for the Kingdom of Dem, women and ethnic minorities. Why love and understanding will fill the air. Sesame Street has come to save the day! Rejoice, it's Elmo and Haseen O. Jameel, the alligator, who will delight the hatred right out of the children of Pakistan.

Sir Larry Dolan, the head education officer for the kingdom agency for International Development in Pakistan believes this program will increase tolerance in Pakistan. Mr. Dolan couldn't possibly be wrong, could he? The project will cost a mere $20 million and that's peanuts, right?

Well, the show is not going to be called Sesame Street. Poor Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird will not be going to Pakistan. It goes without saying that Miss Piggy will be left at home as well, for so many reasons. In their stead, Elmo will be going and he will taking along Bailey the singing donkey. Should you somehow find yourself in Pakistan and want to join in on the indoctrination, look for a show titled Sim Sim Hamera. If you are wondering if Bert and Ernie will ever get married in Pakistan, you can forget it. This will be a more Middle Eastern version of our Sesame Street. After all we have a serious challenge ahead of us. We must turn the children of Pakistan against all they have been taught about the west and about anyone who does not believe what they believe.

If anyone can do it, Elmo can...POP...

La, la, la, yay!

He's going to Pakistan

To save the day

La, la, la yay!

He'll tell the Taliban to just go away...

Elmo's song.

I’m just thinking….perhaps Barney would be a better representative. I mean really, if we are going to send over mind-altering drivel what could be better than a purple dinosaur.

I’m sure parents in the US have millions of CDs & DVDs to donate, that’s got to be cheaper. From what I remember of the never-ending happiness songs played over and over and over… most people would even pay the postage to get Barney out of the house

Enjoy your NYC visit and stay safe! As for Sesame Street and the mere amount of $20 million - what a waste.

Hope that 20 Mil gets Elmo a flak jacket and helmet! Have fun POP!

Pino Krisio 6 months ago

POP: Is this OUR $20 Mil they are spending, or are we getting $20 Mil; and by WE, is it Sesame Street or we taxpayers who are benefiting? This is a way of life, and I doubt Elmo can change their minds, but he can try.

I'm off to the bar. Since you are in NYC, I'll save you a seat.....

Dear Tom,

I went to the upper East Side so I was safe from the crowd of losers. Bloomberg has made a mess of things because he is weak.

Dear ready,

How wonderful to see you at the breakfast table. They don't want Barney, it's Elmo that appeals to this group. Isn't Elmo worth millions??????

Dear Pamela,

I went to the Upper East Side so I was fine, but honestly I could feel the tension in the air. Mayor Bloomberg has created a disaster by letting these idiots take over. Now, I am sure, he is worried about violence if he tries to get them out of the park. What a fool.

Dear Hmr,

He might just have enough for the helmet and jacket, but I think he is going to need backup!

Dear Pino,

It is costing 20 million to get this show on the road. Worthwhile? I think not.

Dear American View,

The trip is over and I am far away form the maddening crowd. It is time for Bloomberg to step up to the plate.

Why are there so many Pakistanis living in the US if they hate us so much?

Dear sheila,

Some of them probably love the freedom here, but prefer we weren't here to enjoy it!

The great minds, bp, that came up with the Pakistan/Elmo program seem not to have their porch lights lit. Same as 40 cards short of a full deck. What are they thinking???

Pop, I got a warm feeling in my heart from this recipe...Pass the TUMs!

As to handling Pakistan and terrorism, to date the BEST and most realistic plan I have heard come out of a politician is from freshman Congressman and retired Lt Col. Allen West (R-FL). Best of all he had the guts to publish his views right in the faces of every one else on Capitol Hill (which IMHO needs to be renamed Moron's Mound, he did it in The Roll Call which touts itself "The Newspaper of Capitol Hill"

See here: West: U.S. Must Understand 21st-Century Combat

Cheers!

Good morning Lethal Leprechaun,

I have enormous respect for Allen West, so thank you for the link. He has the kind of courage and integrity we need more of in Washington. Sorry about the breakfast!

Lethal Leprechuan 5 months ago

I lament the fact the HE was not our first Black President and that the Republicans are not savvy enough to tap him to run pop.

No worries about the breakfast, I never said I didn't enjoy it. Besides a little heartburn helps to keep you warm on a cold day!

Dear Lethal Leprechaun,

I'm with you. The Republicans haven't been very "savvy" at all. See you at the Inn.
