Denver Omelets and the Observer
64Not So Fast!
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, February 9, 2012. Our dear alien friend, Observer Scotty, has been analyzing the Obama administration's claim that unemployment figures are down. Scotty is not amused or impressed. He wishes to speak to us this morning at POP's house and he has requested that we prepare Denver Omelets for breakfast. Let's not disappoint Scotty. Unhappy aliens can turn on you without a warning, especially when they are hungry.
For 2 servings you will need 4 large eggs, 1 cup chopped onion, 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper, 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper, 1/2 cup diced cooked ham, 8 slices crumbled bacon, 2 tablespoons butter, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper and if you want to, a few drops of hot sauce.
Melt butter in a skillet. Saute onion, bell peppers, ham and bacon until the onion turns translucent.
In a small bowl, whip eggs and add salt and pepper and hot sauce.
Slowly stir the eggs into the mixture in the skillet. Lightly brown on one side, turn over and brown the other side. Wrap up the omelet and hurry over to POP's place. Scotty and POP will be waiting with hundreds of Bloody Marys for all of us.
Hello, my beloved earthling family. Thank you for coming over this morning. No matter how hard I try, I don't think I will ever understand your nation. Your government lies to you on a continual basis and hardly a ripple is made in the water. A perfect example of what I am referring to happened just last week. The White House claimed that unemployment dropped for the fifth consecutive month to 8.3 percent. They proclaimed that this was the lowest it had been in three years. Although people weren't exactly dancing in the streets upon hearing the news, the Obama administration was patting itself on the back for turning things around.
Not so fast, my friends. The reality of this situation is that these numbers have been manipulated so that the administration can manipulate all of you. Experts on my planet say that the figures appeared to drop because the agency charged with computing economic data decreased the number of Americans in the wrokforce.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics showed the unemployment rate dropping. It also showed total workforce participation, the number of people working or looking for work, declining as well.
Since the unemployment rate is determined by dividing the number of unemployed people seeking jobs by the total labor force, the number of unemployed appears to decline because the number of workers in the workforce is reduced. In other words you, my dear earthlings, are being conned into believing that things are looking up.
When people give up looking for work the Bureau of Labor Statistics refers to them as "discouraged workers". At that point these "discouraged workers" are no longer considered to be part of the nation's working population. If you remove them from the calculations you end up with a much lower number than you would have if they were included and Voila!..things start to look better.
They may look better but they certainly aren't better. The Obama administration doesn't sweat the details, they just go for the happy congratulatory ending. You need to be one step ahead of them because the future of your country is at stake. Question everything and stay on your toes. Remember, if it is too good to be true, it probably isn't. I love you guys, I really do. NA, NU, NA, NU...SCOTTY... NU, NA, NU, NA...POP...

Pop and Scotty,
Very timely and telling observations. The real shame of this story is that so many Americans seem to buy the Administrations fairy tale so readily. This president is so harmful to our way of life but I still think he may again be gaining traction with those he fooled the first time around. I hope I'm wrong.
POP: The true unemployment rate is somewhere around 15%. That includes the people who have just given up looking for a job.
According to a Rasmussen survey published a few days ago, the Republican party has increased by .5% to 35.9%, the Dems are at an all time low of 32.5%, so the Independents and other party voters total 31.6%. That is what the Repubicans must go after to win this election, assuming that all Reb/Dem voters will vote with their party affiliation. We need all the votes we can get, and we need a candidate who will strike at Obama with facts. Unfortunately, when you check the facts after the debates, the only one who told the truth was Gingrich, who will probably not win the primary. If you listen to Jay Carney every day, he is spewing all the lies the MSM can handle. I'm with Scotty - sick of all the lies, and sicker of the lemmings who parrot anything said by the WH as the gospel truth.
I'm off to the bar early. Save me a seat....
Morning POP...Your analysis is spot on...reminds me of a quote by Tammany Hall boss William Tweed: "As long as I count the votes, what are you going to do about it ?"...
As long as this administration continues to exaggerate and manipulate the numbers, which are unchallenged and swallowed whole cloth by an admiring media, what are we going to do about it,,? By " we " I am talking about those Americans that are intellectually engaged and concerned with the future of this nation, this America, this final frontier for human liberty on this earth...
Beam me up, Scotty...Obama is like an itch I can't scratch...maybe that tree of liberty needs a little watering...Larry
I have a real problem figuring out these "discouraged workers" who are not included in the unemployment numbers. Are these people who have just decided to go ahead and starve to death? If that were true, we would have streets lined with newly starved people every morning, and that ain't happening. I suspect some are from previous two income families who have learned to live on one income. Some have learned to live on what they get in entitlements, and don't care to rejoin the rat race of employed people. This particular part of the missing component of the unemployment calculations just makes no sense at all. They are still living and breathing people, so they still must fulfill the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter.
BPOP - Someone can possibly explain in a logical, rational manner how 1.2 million people were dropped from the BLS rolls? Where did they go? They didn't go back to work. They just disappeared from the US of A? Maybe Scotty came and took them away?
Those stats are based upon what we call the "participation rate." It's easy to make stats say what you want them to say. One of the hardest courses I took in college was satatistics but it taught me how they do it.
People better start waking up. Real unemployment, without manipulating the numbers, is at about 11%. There has been a net loss of jobs during this administration, not a net gain. That's a FACT!

PS - I shared your article with my followers. We all need to start getting the word out :)
I heard some new information this morning that blew my mind!
67 MILLION folks recieve $32,700 a year in entitlement, those working to pay for it make on average $32,400 ...................guys we are in serious trouble, I think we should forget unemployment and focus on how many recieve entitlement!..........if a person works, has day care etc. they should quit this morning and get on the govt tit!............I'm in shock, someone hand me a sedative!
BPOP I just sent out an interesting private email. You were included.
TFP
It's a fact, bp, that unemployment figures can never be accurate because they not only do not include folks who have stopped looking for work, but they also do not include those who are working at jobs that pay substantially less than they were earning before.
POP - Based on what AR said in his comment, my light bulb of understanding just got brighter. 67 Million people on entitlements receive $32,700, tax free, for not working. Others earn on average $32,400 of taxable income by working. Now simple grade school math would tell most everyone which choice to make considering these two options. This trend will most likely never end as long as there are those still willing to work and pay taxes to support those who choose not to work. Before the hate mail starts, I do understand there are some very unfortunate people who are unable to work for various reasons, and they deserve our help.
Well, Pop, you're right on again -- Bummer's again involved in "watch this hand" and unfortunately lots of people are doing just that. Seems to me any thinking person would wonder why Bummer's able to "pull rabbits out of hats" now that this is an election year and realize we've been scammed all along while this administration has planned and was waiting for this very moment to "proclaim the good news"? Did hear a pretty good funny -- a friend says he's not voting for the Irish guy -- O'Bummer. Best/Sis
I heard on the radio today that at least 1/5 of Americans receive most of their income as public assistance. If true, it's bad.
The inevitable result of that manipulation will be disasterous to this administration. When unemployed workers who have quit looking start believing that companies are starting to hire based on these false numbers, they will rejoin those actively seeking work, and unemployment will appear to skyrocket. With any luck, that will happen in October.
