Dilly Eggs on Manic Monday

Failing Grade

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, April 12, 2010. President Obama is on another one of his campaign binges. He wants voters to know that in his view, government is not all that bad. Let's prepare a breakfast of Dilly Eggs and take a long hard look at what is going on.

You will need 6 beaten eggs, a splash of cream, a healthy dose of dill weed, 2 tablespoons vinegar, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, salt and pepper to taste a some butter for frying. Beat eggs in a small bowl. Add dill weed, salt, pepper, cream and vinegar. Heat a skillet to medium temperature and melt butter. Add egg mixture and let set for a few minutes. Stir in cheese and scramble. This recipe serves 2 people or one very hungry person.

With so much anti-government sentiment spilling over, President Obama has hit the road once more to rally the troops into believing that, after all is said and done, government is our friend. He is also trying to discredit those that don't agree with him, such as tea party participants and Republicans. He believes that the government is better equipped to handle many problems that the private sector simply can't do. His message makes sense, to him, because he has earned the distinction of leading an administration that has managed to massively insert itself into our lives in terms of health care, bailouts and takeovers. The fact is, that most Americans don't agree with his views and, in fact, history proves him wrong in his assertions.

Let's look at all the wonderful government programs that were supposed to change our lives for the better, especially in light of how well the government and its bureaucrats handle things. First let's take a stroll down memory lane and take a peek at the two government run mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. These programs came into existence on the assumption that government sponsored entities could borrow money at lower rates than private companies. That was the assumtion, this is the reality. Fannie and Freddie (they sound so cute and harmless) have cost the taxpayer far more in bailout money then they ever saved on cheaper mortgages. A fine example of our government hard at work.

Now let's take a look at Medicare. When this program was passed the government promised seniors that nothing would prevent them from using private primary insurance, if they chose to. Well, as we all know, things didn't quite work out like that. It is virtually impossible for persons over the age of 65 to purchase private primary insurance. Under President Obama's new plan, Medicare funding will be slashed like Jack the Ripper's victims and seniors will suffer. Anther fine example of our government hard at work.

Medicaid recipients as will as those on military health plans are already severely restricted in their health care choices. Things are about to get much, much worse and you can take this statement to the bank. Contrary to the claims of the Obama administration, their takeover of our health care will stifle all competition and result in the eventual elimination of private health insurance. Another example of our government hard at work for us.

No discussion of this nature would be complete without mentioning Social Security. The government has a long and checkered history in running this program. The powers that be have been stealing its funds and wasting the money elsewhere. Now the program is on the verge of bankruptcy. Yet again, another sterling example of our government hard at work.

President Obama's assertions about the role of government are false. His plan to expand government into our lives until Big Brother is looking over our shoulder at every twist and turn of life's road is a prescription for failure and it spells the end of innovation, free markets, and independence.

Where is Ronald Reagan when you really need him?...POP...

Pop,

Fear not I watched much of The Southern Republican Leadership Commitee convention on CSPAN over the weekend and we are ready for the 2010 elections. We must take our country back!!!!!!!!

The Department of Education began the down fall of our educational system in the 1970's and now we have Kevin Jennings (NAMBLA supporter) in a safe school position. Sheri Sapp has written a companion hub to mine on education be sure to check it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning Tom,

I sure hope we are ready. Obama is parading around the country telling everyone how happy they will be with his health care plan and telling them that government is their friend. We have to find a way to shut down his march towards the ruination of our country. I did read both hubs and I agree with both wholeheartedly. Parents must remain extremely vigilant when it comes to their children's education, now more than ever. Obama's choice of school czar is frightening.

Too many facts here. You know those on the left always have a problem when confronted with facts. Those still blinded by his shining aura just will NEVER admit the truth.

Good morning Sheri

I know what you mean those pesky facts get in the way of a great photo op. Why just this morning the former head of the CBO said that all their projections were wrong, because the administration cleverly didn't put into the figures such things as doctor payments for medicare. Ooops! This is a disgrace and it has to end soon!

BP I saw some of what Tom saw and I was very impressed with the keynote speakers remarks, a man with his head on his shoulders not stuck up his a--. As far a our Education system, it has like Tom also stated been a mess since the 1970's. I know here in my county educators spend time educating the top 5% of the class(the academic gifted), the remaining 95% have to wing it.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop Hub Author 2 years ago

Good morning Robert,

You have to be kidding, you actually saw and heard some speakers with heads on their shoulders. Come on, tell the truth! Look our education system is heading down the toilet along with the rest of our country. We need to put on the brakes, turn around and start over, now!

POP: The Government has been "borrowing" Social Security Funds since 1968, when Johnson needed to fund the Vietnam war. Although it doesn't seem right, it was legal, and others have "borrowed" as well. Today, the IOU's total in excess of $600 Billion. where will the government get that money? Maybe they'll just print it. Before that time, however, there was an impressive excess in that fund. We would not be in this predicament today if everyone left that money alone! It is, after all, our money, which is different from paying taxes. It is a mandatory savings account and the government was just "holding" it for us.

I think there's a saying about a fox and a hen house....

Enough facts for a Monday. My turn to buy. See you all at the bar. if you get there before me, save me a seat....

taxlarry 2 years ago

Great Hub! The problem with the government is the government. The only thing government is good for is spending (and borrowing) money. I cannot think of one program the government runs well. Either there is gross overspending or fraud or both. Yet the demorats always come up with an explanation of how great the programs are running. It's quite disgusting. BARTENDER........

Pino Krisio 2 years ago

POP: Taxlarry makes a good point. I forgot to mention that all the "borrowing" came from the Democrats - now it's probably Bush's fault, or at least the Republicans.

POP, "The Democrats have ignored the voices of the American people, who have loudly and repeatedly said that they do not want this health care monstrosity. No one disputes that we need health care reform of some sort. What we do not need is a trillion dollar entitlement program that we can’t afford. Republicans had many good ideas for needed health care reform that Democrats refused to even consider. Now it is the job of Republicans to ensure that the American people know exactly what is in the Democrats trillion dollar health care bill." Blackburn. I got the page of the current representative from my little brother in Tennessee, it made sense, but words are words, I sent him an email and told him to find her voting record. He keeps trying to pry me out of here and move in with him and his wife. He's trying to sell me on being better off in Tennessee. I'm not buying, unless they secede from the nation along with the whole of the south. I'm in district 1 with John McCain and I know where he stands and I'm going to be voting for him again as I see no better in sight so far. It's time to be watching and planning, sending emails to them kicking and hollering to get their attention now!

Can we trust the Republicans to this task? That's my biggest worry. I'm sure we'll see a change in congress big time, but will they cut the strings and hang obummer out to dry? I want them to be vengeful and spiteful in their task of wiping this presidential army off the bill and then go after health care. A president with a private army scares the hell out of me! Every one tells me they can't disarm the Americans, I beg to differ, with a force moving across America people will give them up rather than confront them. I have a serious bad feeling about this.

Lets go drink some at the bar and talk some more about all getting on the candidate for election this year, to let them know what we expect.

Why no questions about the included army? Have you seen anything on the news about it?

Yes, Poppy...you know what the most predictable part of the new healthcare reform package is, don't you. Our "Big Govmint"(as Brother Dave Gardner use to say)is going to collect our money for four years prior to instituting the package. The money will go into the general fund and our creative law makers and our "Big Govmint" President will pork it away just like Social Security, etc. These are the evil-doers!

Good morning 50 caliber,

First of all you have a hot hub, it's number one, congratulations. I have not seen anything about the private army fiasco and that in and of itself is very scary. Our only hope is to get new fresh faces in Congress who fight for the people who put them in office. Wow, what a novel idea. As of this moment the Republicans are disappointing me big time. Where are the fresh faces? They need to be more vocal about the differences between them and the Dems. They also need to step up the talk about the health care bill. They should read your hub. See you later at the bar and we'll talk about your brother's desire to have you come live there. Somehow i can't picture that, but what do I know.

Good morning Wayne,

Let's face it this government and its myriad supply of incompetent bureaucrats don't know how to run anything properly. By the time all the taxes are collected and the reform is ready to kick in, the program will be bankrupt. See you at the bar. I don't know about you, but I need to relax among friends.

Of course, my personal approval rating is not even on the chart. Good hub.

Obama has hit the road once more because that’s the only thing he knows how to do. He doesn’t know how to govern in fact he admitted during the reconciliation process that an administration that can’t garner 60% of the people in favor of its’ policies has lost the ability to govern. Well during their latest health care takeover battle they rammed it through with far less than 60% consent.

But who cares, this Karl Marx Clone now is back where he’s most comfortable on the road reading prepared speeches from teleprompters explaining how what he’s just done is so good for you. And of course all along he will have his state supported media painting him as the Second Coming complete with musical accompaniment and a choir of angels overhead for good measure. As he explains why healthcare is good for you a Booming Voice will pierce the crowd saying “this is my beloved second son in whom I am well pleased; listen to him!

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac along with Barney Fag and Maxine the Quack put us in this current recession we’re in. Their relentless defense of Franklin Raines when the Republicans attempted to bring pressure to investigate his catastrophic lending policies in order to exacerbate the purpose, intent and effect of the Community Reinvestment Act and place more minorities in housing they could not afford burst the housing bubble and in essence BROKE THE BANK. In this case Broke the Banks along with the economy!

Still they cry out through their Lying Pie Holes Tax Cuts for the Rich put us into this recession and the dumb, ignorant sheeple that still support this Oligarchy say yeah that’s right; lets soak those Rich People; let’s destroy this economy, lets force what’s left of our jobs oversees; we’ll show those rich guys!

Medicare, Social Security, Amtrak, the Post Office all shining stars hanging in the sky of Government Efficiency; they hang over our heads as pure unadulterated examples of just how efficiently government can run entities. The fact is now always has been and always will be the only thing government is good at is creating bureaucracies and all bureaucracies are good for is to provide jobs for political cronies which are paid for through the confiscation of the money from the productive people who work in the private sector!

President Obama is Big Brother and will stop at nothing to bully all his little brothers and sisters out of every last piece of candy they have so that he can redistribute their candy to those who have laid around on their lazy fat rumps but still cry out “it’s not fair, they have all this candy and we have none, give us some of theirs”!

Your recipe seems quite a lot for 2, and I think before long it will have to stretch to 6. Have you noticed how many states are raising taxes and creating new ones? And on top of that, the great gov't wants a VAT! That will effect everything, even the food we buy.

Obama can spend money as he sees fit, it is meaningless since it is not your money he is spending, it is HIS money.

All money belongs to him, he still lets you use it for your everyday means but earning money does not entitle you to anything or give you the right to deny those who do not work or cannot work. He can print all he wants, spend all he wants and turn a one hundred dollar bill into nothing but a piece of scrap paper!
