French Toast Pockets and the Protesters
57Go Home!
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, October 3, 2011. The "Occupy Wall Street" protests have been in the limelight these past couple of weeks and it appears that the urge to run through the streets declaring war on capitalism is very much in vogue. Let's prepare some French Toast Pockets this morning and take a look at who and what is behind these protests.
The following amounts make six delicious servings of french toast. Perhaps some of the protesters can whip some up and redistribute the toast among their hungry "toastless" friends who are too lazy to make some. You will need 12 large slices of day old French bread about 1 inch thick, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 1 tablespoon orange juice, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and 12 strips cooked bacon.
Make a pocket in each piece of bread by cutting halfway through each slice. Whisk together eggs, milk, orange juice, vanilla, cinnamon and salt and set aside. Heat butter and oil in a skillet over med-high heat. Insert cooked bacon into each slice of bread. Dip bread in egg mixture and cook until golden brown. Serve with fresh fruit, powdered sugar or maple syrup. Sit back and try to relax, I feel a letter coming on.
To all the protesters running through Wall Street,
Tell me, if you will who you are and what you want. It would appear that you are trying to duplicate the "Arab Spring" in New York. How incredibly naive of you. The initial impetus for the Arab Spring was a desire for freedom. It would appear that you people are not at all happy with the freedoms offered to you here in this great country. Rather we get the impression that you have a strong and overwhelming desire to upset the status quo and level the playing field. Not that you want to play, but rather you want to take. You seem to want to take from the "rich" and give to the poor. Does it make you feel like Robin Hood? Has it ever occurred to any of you that you could consider using your brains and ingenuity to learn a new skill, invent something, create a new product or a new service? Perhaps not. It would appear that you all find the notion of just taking away wealth from the greedy corporations and giving it to people wo did not a thing to earn it much more enticing.
Have you ever stopped to consider who these corporations are? Why they are your mothers, your fathers, your sisters, your brothers and your children. They employ thousands upon thousands of people, all with the freedom to excel and rise to the top, if they are motivated and focused. The sky can be the limit if they are willing to work hard, but that is not what you are after is it?
Many of you are trained activists who wallow in the underbelly of ugly accusations, blaming America for 9/11 and every ill throughout the world. Many of you are in awe of the protests in Greece hoping to bring that level of dysfunction to our shores. You want to trash our beloved Constitution and rewrite it in your own image. You feel a kinship with President Obama and many of his czars who would no doubt like to do the same thing. Many of you are confused and lost and are being used by groups seeking to undermine the foundation of our nation.
You have every right to protest because this is a free society, but if you incite violence then the police have the right to arrest you in order to protect the rest of us.
Those of us not engaged in these protests will have to remain vigilant. We are living in troubled times times and the atmosphere is ripe for exploitation by the likes of the SEIU, ACORN and Van Jones, to name just a few. All of these people have close ties to the White House. I wonder if they see any hypocrisy in the fact that President Obama talks about the "fat cats" with such disdain but is more than happy to host elaborate dinners to separate them from their money. He may "trash" their image, but he needs them. How about his love of lavish vacations in Martha's Vineyard? Is he not part of the "problem" you are exposing? I suggest you disband, go home and think about what you are doing. All I can say is be careful what you wish for...POP...

the impetus for "Arab. Spring " came Fromm a US trained Egyptian, trained I'n NY, and sent back to coordinate the "Spring"is most likely being co-ordinaa a Facebook network.
Similarly, this "American Fall" us mist likely coordinated by Obama thugs, aaa part of his reelection strategy
I just heard a newscaster interviewing many of the protestors and many of them don't seem to know why they are even protesting. They want the rich to give them money so everyone can be equal!!! One girl was asked would she take a job if someone came from a corporation and offered one to her and she replied, "No way!" Pathetic that young people think they are owed a handout and don't have to work for a living. Is this what they learned in college or at home? I sure don't know.
it is so ridiculous that it blows the mind of any sane person.......as you said they have no idea what they are doing or want......I heard one of them say if we all shared things would be better......in other words they do not want to do crap but want others to work hard and give to them........you mentioned many of the names behind this and I find it interesting the stephen lerner who was a former SEIU official called for this back in May and also was at the WH 4 times....I wrote about it and as I researched it was blown away at his comments and just the mentality........
Morning Pop...Welcome to the Entitlement Generation...Products of an educational system that values self-esteem over competition and individual merit. These graduates of "share-time" grade schools are inculcated with the mindset of collectivism, a communal feeding at the trough...
This is a sign of the times where we will have flash mobs organized via the Internet and cell phone texts. We are indeed becoming a nation of sheep...
See you at the tavern, Pop...Where the men are men, and the sheep are scared...Larry
POP: These "voters" don't even know what they want! Most are young, and just want to take from the rich. How sad that they are so misinformed and lazy. If you have the time to protest as a welfare recipient, then you have time to work! Well, it's tavern time, and I'm on my way. Save me a seat.....
Why don't they go back to class (if they are in school) or try to get a job. Maybe they lack the skills to get one, but they are fodder for the commies in the white house, unions and the like. They are lucky the cops didn't start breaking heads (as they should have done) or have the traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge use them for speed bumps. They are op ure garbage and should be treated as such. Off to the bar. BARTENDER............
I understand the anger and frustration people are feeling in this economy, but I think there's a better way to handle the situation. Loved the recipe and voted up!
Holle
The problem is that there was a gunrunning operation discovered by a reporter (Chicago Tribune) with the same kinds of guns given to the Mexican cartel.
I think they may try to intimidate people from going to the polls
unless they're voting for him if
course.
Ihe "insider" says that as opposed to using racial guilt I'n 2008, this
time Obama will use terror.
POP - The question of the day to me is "Why weren't these kids mommas on Birth Control?" They are living examples of its possible benefits. See ya at the Inn, saving seats today..
I've not seen the news much, but blocking a bridge is not smart at all. Protesting is fine, violence is not fine. Capitalism cannot be stopped by protests any more than alcohol use was stopped by Prohibition - not that Capitalism is a drug (haha) - but it is a mainstay here.
I liked the days when Mad Magazine under William Gaines was at its height, simply making readers laugh at some of the MAD-ison Avenue/Wall Street ad campaigns and other happenings. Can't we go back?
Pop, I'll never get protesters at all they seem to me the bane of a movement best done with letters and phone calls to those in office putting them on notice that things need to change. These mobs don't seem to take into account the price of law enforcement called to monitor the mess they create. I know they have the right to assemble and there are ways to do it, with the invitation of those responsible to show up and speak to an organized rejection of business as usual. I'm no big fan of Glenn Beck but his get together was a way to garner visual numbers together and speak out, allowing those in office to come and listen then reply. Good selection of a speaker to head the event, I feel would be more effective. There always exist the few who feel that they must tear up and break things while they have cover of numbers. Disorganization accomplishes the spending of over time pay for personnel to hold them at bay, keeping peaceful gatherings peaceful. It takes one willing to throw the first brick and a skirmish evolves when they are left to their own, they get to feeling ignored and then up the ante. I'll meet you at the Inn and we can drink about it, 50
BP all movements start out looking "naive" i.e. the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Brown vs. the Board of Education simply just could not be won in the eyes of doubters and opposers in the beginning. In most of these initiatives (just as in this one), the trick to understanding them is, it's your money these powerful banks, governments etc., are playing with and screwing you over with. Ever since the George W. Administration white conservatives have pulled a rabbit out of their hat called "I know I don't have anything, but these corporations that are ripping us off are job creators." Weird stuff actually. You might do well to attend the Wall St. occupation, post your sleeping bag somewhere between Starbucks and B. Smith's restuarant.
Then there's Roseanne Barr, who sides with these protesting kooks, and calls for the beheading of bankers who refuse to give up the money she says they don't deserve!
No word about her own money and whether her own head should remain on the end of her own neck.
Many of these protesters, bp, grew up in families supported by welfare payments, food stamps and all the other many government handouts. Earning a living is an unknown concept. Entitlement is the only god they worship; the only god they know.
Breakfastpops, I don't Understand what they are Protesting about... and how they can afford to be there Protesting...Do they come from Rich Families that are supporting them? It really makes NO SENSE in this day and age. THe so called RICH work hard for their pay...and have Families to support...And then there's Roseanne Barr wanting to BEHEAD people...She should be taken away for observation!
french toast is awesome. That's probably what I should have made this morning. I got to my kids house and made waffle batter. I pulled out their waffle maker. Mind you it hasn't been used in years. I found remainders of a waffle from a day gone by. cleaned it out and started to cook a new one. Well, it stuck to the waffle maker and didn't come out very attractive. I ate that one and then made pancakes out of the rest. I told my sick daughter that I made pancakes for her and she said, "I don't like pancakes." And then she was ringing that bell all morning for the fun of it.
Due to the fact I could upset some family members if I speak my mind totally on this - let me today just say - I totally concur - you are a Rock Star and you are not only RIGHT you are an entertaining news source! Thanks for your service to your country Pop! I mean it!
Your devoted fan - Carol
I haver never tried this but after reading this hub I may very wll do !!
Thank you for sharing and I vote up without a doubt.
Take care
Eiddwen.
Pop, protesting is sexy. When I was I'n my 20's, I was I'n every protest. Thank God most of them were worry, like Civil Rights and anti-Vietnam.
Unfortunately, what else gave thes kids got to do? No jobs.
Pops,
I saw a program where a reporter went into the mob and asked why they were protesting... shockingly the answers were incoherant drivel or anti capitalism babbling... like " WE are here... to show the industrial cartels...of ...of money grubbers that we ... the people ...here know whats going on in the world today and we are marching to ...show the evil capitalists... that we know ..what they are up to..."
I am sure he was smelling like petulee and pot...
these "psuedo freedom fighter protesters" are just slugs being duped by the commies and anti-capitalists of the world.
TH
Based on some of the dialogue that I heard coming out of that protest the central them was incoherence...some guys grumbling about soybean meal in the food supply! You can bet there was a professional community organizer standing in the shadows closeby smiling at the chaos he was creating in the streets of New York and getting ready to plot for some more. Here we have a crowd likely so dimwitted that they are easily led and manipulated with the promise that "da man" gonna give him some of that money if they scream loud enough and cause problems. What a pitiful display of American citizenship if indeed there were any citizens in the crowd. WB
Remember what happened when Ibama's cousin Reule Odingo lost the election? He burned a church down with everyone inside. So, let's keep the location of the Inn secret
"All I can say is be careful what you wish for."
No kidding.
Voted Up and Many.
Hi, breakfastpop! I'm as confused as they are as to what exactly they are standing for. Have they finally figure it out? I went to read about it and came across a discussion among some of these protesters arguing among themselves! Libs!
Bpop, I heard interviews with some of the protesters...priceless! They ranged from the government's poisoning us to the governments's altering our genetics to "whitey" is trying to eliminate the other races. One I really liked was: "I have 2 kids, and one has good hair, but the other doesn't. That's genetic, man. That proves that the government has changed our genetics." I'm like...HUH????
breakfastpop,
Ugly accusations are dysfunctional.
Love having breakfast here with you.
Why the protests now - why not at the beginning of the financial crisis? Are the activist now organized and a more coherent group?

Pop,
I heard Michael Moore and Susan Sarandon speaking to these miscreants. What a group of losers. It's too bad there isn't a G8 meeting somewhere for them to go to. They were lucky in NYC to only get arrested when they blocked the Brooklyn Bridge. It could have been ugly.
