Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Class is in session this morning and the topic is sure to quicken your pulse and give you a case of indigestion. Let's prepare some Pumpkin Fritters for breakfast and then head for the campus where we will be studying just how President Obama is playing it fast and loose with job opportunities in our nation.
For the fritters, you will need 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 and 1/2 cups canned pumpkin puree, 1 large egg, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon softened butter, 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice, 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder and some extra butter and powdered sugar for topping. You should be able to create about 12 fritters.
In a small mixing bowl, mix together eggs, sugar and salt. Add pumpkin puree and mix again.
In a large bowl, sift flour and baking powder together. Add egg mixture to flour along with the butter, spices and vanilla.
Spoon batter in 1/4 cup amounts onto a greased griddle set on med-high heat. Cook until golden brown on both sides. Serve with butter and some sugar. Pack your lunchbox with the fritters and fill your thermos with a Bloody Mary. Head for class, the professor is waiting.
Good morning students. The big question on everyone's mind these days is 'Where are the jobs?" President Obama talks about the problem quite often, but you know what they say, "Talk is cheap". In this case talk is also deceptive because there are jobs out there begging to come to fruition if only the president would act in the best interests of this nation. Instead our esteemed leader has chosen to let the left wing environmentalist base run the show.
This administration is approving only about 35 percent of the oil drilling plans for the Gulf of Mexico. This administration is also dragging its feet when it comes to the process of securing approval from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement. All the foot dragging is costing us jobs. One deep water rig can create 700 jobs. Slow down the process to a crawl and see all this wealth of opportunity ground to a halt.
Remember the 7 billion dollar Keystone XL pipeline? This project would have brought 700,000 barrels of oil per day from Alberta, Canada to the Texas Gulf coast producing not only oil but about 20,000 jobs. The Obama administration has put construction of the pipeline on hold. Another missed opportunity in terms of energy, jobs and revenue for the states that the pipeline runs through.
What I have outlined for you today is the perfect example of how to appear concerned about a problem while adding to it at the same time. It's a lot like like being a magician. Show the people the cute furry rabbit and then make it disappear...forever... Class dismissed...POP...

The problem with you is that you have too much common sense. That quality is not appreciated by anyone in Washington. Obama will drag his feet until after the election, lest he annoy his "pals" by making a decision they don't approve of. I am off to the Inn. See you there later.

POP: Obama talks the talk, but cannot walk the walk. His speeches (almost daily)are full of everything we want to hear; then, nothing happens. He is inept, and single-handedly bringing this country down. There are bills sitting on his desk forever which will bring jobs to the market, but he'd rather talk about it over and over. Is it because if we move on from the jobs will we really see his empty suit?

Obama is playing political poker with people's lives and their assets for the future. He does not subscribe to the goals of the average American nor does he understand them. His goals are far different...break America's back financially so that the people will be much more desperate and, as a result, far more willing to embrace a socialist system for the future. He is trading away American opportunity in the name of American destruction and all we can hope for is the clock runs out before he can accomplish his goals. Four more years of this administration will definitely destroy the American dream. WB

Hi, bp. Obummy does not really want new jobs to be created before he wins re-election so he can blame the Republicans for failing to support his delusional jobs program.
So true Pop. See the part everyone missed is that he does want to create jobs. Only, he wants to create GOVERNMENT jobs. In a way that means more people are really on the dole. You work for the government, you're technically on the dole because your paycheck depends on a paycheck from the people, and in many of these government jobs which ADMINISTRATE social programs, also depend on people needing social programs to live.
A local radio talking head called Mr. Obama a fraud. I think that's really spot on.

All the president has to do is get the process for drilling expedited (the way he did for Solyndra) and there would be plenty of jobs for everyone. Combine that with giving business security with regard to taxes and regulation and more jobs would open up. It's not rocket science, it's capitalism.

Interestingly, speaking of "the dream," I often find posters of Obama and Martin Luther King side by side with the connotation being a similarity between the "I have a dream" speech and the "Yes, we can" speech. In many ways I think Dr. King's vision and Obama's vision are MILES AND MILES apart, and if I were the King family I'd be insulted. Obama is basically saying to the black people, "You cannot do it on your own, and so I will help do it for you. Praise me." Dr. King was all about going it alone and self achievement provided that barriers were not there to stop him. If the barriers could be pulled away, then the sky would be the limit. That was King's message. That was his dream. I can't think of a more terrible barrier to achievement and opportunity than the welfare state.

I believe that if Martin Luther King were alive he would find it very difficult to vote for Obama. The welfare state insured that poverty would be a constant in our nation. The Democrats created it and are hell bent on perpetuating it.

Great Hub Pop. Why is it that these liberal, progressive, dream warriors must make the entire country prisoner to their pipe dreams. I use "pipe dreams" in the literal sense it that they are the product of too much THC ingestion from the PIPE. The pipe dream of "green energy" is worth pursuing in research for the future but for the here and now we need to invest our SCARCE funds and resources on proven oil, gas and coal technology and get this country on its feet producing again!!!!
