Goldilocks Oatmeal and a Letter to The Demorats
60I've Had It
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, August 10, 2009. The sun is shining and the temperature is rising, so let's prepare a hearty breakfast and turn up the heat a bit by writing to the Demorats in Congress.
But first we have a recipe to prepare. If you want to join me you will need 2 1/2 cups water, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 cups rolled oats, maple syrup, 1 teaspoon raisins and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. In a medium pot bring water to a boil, add salt and pour in the oatmeal. Stir the mix and cook over medium heat until all the water is absorbed. Pour into bowls and mix in raisins and cinnamon. Drizzle maple syrup on top and dig in. Whenever I eat this breakfast, it brings me back to my childhood and I remember a sweet time in my life when Goldilocks and the Three Bears were the only thing on my mind. Oh well, clearly those days are over and now it's time to take on bigger game than a few bears.
This morning I want to write an open letter to the Demorats...POP...
To the Demorats in Congress,
Are you all out of your collective minds? Has President Obama cast a spell upon you that prevents you from thinking clearly and acting responsibly? What, please tell me, is going on?
Despite clear proof that health care reform is extremely unpopular with the electorate you persist in trying to push this monstrosity through, and quickly. Why? What possible reason could there be for such reckless speed? Can't you see that the American people, who you work for, want you to slow down, read the bill, listen to opposing points of view and take as much time as necessary to do this thing right? Is there something threatening in such a suggestion? Could you please explain it to me.
We all know about the town hall meetings. There is no excuse for violence, but initially there really wasn't any trouble. Sure you may have had outraged and frustrated citizens raising their voices in order to be heard, but you didn't have thugs joining the mix and making a mess of things. Personally, I blame you Mr. & Mrs. Demorat for attracting these people. You mocked and ridiculed the citizens in attendance and you characterized them in the most unflattering ways. Your irresponsible attacks upon these people, encouraged every wacko to come out and raise havoc. I hope you're proud of what you have done.
In any case, the truth still stands. Mr. & Mrs. Average American are very unhappy with the bill that is emerging from Congress. We have you to blame for this, because the Republicans have been excluded from the equation. How many times can we say the same things? How dare you come into our lives and dictate to us how we will be receiving heath care in the future? How dare you change the quality of health care in this country without really studying what national health care has accomplished in places it has been tried?
Let me explain the outrage. We don't trust you and we don't like you. You seem to be hell bent on destroying our system and replacing it with a flawed unknown. People much smarter than you, have advised us that expanding health care coverage will cause a shortage of doctors and rationing of care. Are you aware that in Boston, the average wait time for an appointment with a family physician is 63 days? You might want to read this last line again. I said the average wait time is 63 days and that is appalling.
So let me ask you, what exactly are you doing and why are you doing it? The facts are clear, this country is not prepared to make a sweeping change in how we access our health care. We are confused about how it will work and you and you alone are to blame. You have done an incredibly poor job of explaining things. But, then again, how can you explain something you yourself are unfamiliar with. When constituents at town hall meetings start chanting "read the bill", do you find that request to be unreasonable? If you answer yes, than I respectfully request that you pack your bags, resign and get out of town.
I , and many others like me are losing patience with your behavior. You act like a angry group of stubborn men and women who want to pass anything at all costs. This isn't a game of " I can do this, you can't stop me". This is a matter of life and death to every citizen in the nation, except you. You will keep your health care while you carelessly dismantle ours. We don't want that to happen and that is why we are angry.
If you feel that there is a lot of misinformation out there, prove it. Slow down, calm down, stop the name-calling and prove it. Do not try to shove this"change" down our throats like a bowl of oatmeal. We're not swallowing any of it!
Respectfully yours,
Breakfastpop
P.S. Apparently I made a typo in referring to you as Demorats. I'll try not to let it happen again.
POP - So sorry that I am so late.
These town hall meetings have the same message for the congress, yet the congressmen will not acknowledge that their constituents want something other than socialist medicine. Or at least, a congress that will read the bill, and debate it's merits, if any.
Love your type-o!!!!!
Sorry it took me so long, I couldn't fight the croud of people surrounding the bar. They all want POP to send that letter and walk into a townhall meeting. They are even a little angry. Imagine that, they may have a temper because they don't need the goverment putting together another failed plan and don't want to pay for another mistake... I love the idea of that but I am not happy someone is sitting on my bar stool and I can't reach the drink from taxlarry...
"Demorats" is not a typo but rather a description, a very accurate description!

The Demorats can't take any criticism. Aw, I feel bad for them. NOT! It is interesting that the Demorats want to have a dialogue in the town meetings being held. So do the people. When the Demorats don't listen to the people, the people have to raise their voices. The Demorats don't think this is a dialogue. A dialogue to them is they talk, we listen. Yakity yak, don't talk back. If you can't have a dialogue, we will have to shout. The Demorats don't like that. They then say that groups are bringing in people to disrupt the town hall meetings. Well, let's say that is true for the moment. How many meetings were disrupted by ACORN during the camaign? How many members of the union SEIU were brought to rallies and had staged demonstrations? The Demorats find that if the dialogue doesn't go their way, they use their fall-back position that agitators are at the meetings. As expected, the Demorats want their own way all the time, and they can't take it when they don't get their way. They've got to go. The problem is they are not packing their bags and going home on their own. We have to do it by voting them out of office. Hopefully, it won't be too late by then. Let's keep agitating!!!!BARTENDER, A ROUND FOR MY FRIENDS.............
