Grapefruit Crunch and the Election
57Gotcha!
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, January 30, 2012. I would like to believe that our nation is capable of finding ways to eliminate voter fraud. We have the means to implement safeguards to the voting process, but we appear to be reluctant to enforce them.
Let's prepare a healthy breakfast this morning and look into how we cast our votes in this country. A trip to the election doctor may be in order. This morning we are having Grapefruit Crunch. You will need 8 red grapefruit sections, 2 tablespoons vanilla flavored or pina colada flavored yogurt and 2 tablespoons granola with almonds. Arrange grapefruit in a shallow bowl and top with yogurt. Sprinkle with granola and you are done. Now if only we could clean up voter fraud with a simple recipe. Sit back and enjoy your breakfast. I feel a letter coming on.
To the American People,
The 2012 Presidential election is approaching and the stakes are very high. Not only do we have to choose the best candidate to lead our nation back to prosperity, we have to make sure that we pull out all the stops to guarantee an election process that is free from voter fraud. There are people out there as I write this that are dreaming up ways to beat the system. The phrase "vote early and vote often" tells the whole sad story.
Remember James O'Keefe, the young man who exposed ACORN for what it was? Well, he has a new project called Project Veritas. Investigative reporters were dispatched to the polls during the New Hampshire primary on January 10th. They were trying to reveal how easy it is for someone to obtain a ballot using the name of a dead person. Turns out, it was very easy because they were able to obtain ballots in 11 out of 12 polling places. The only reason they were stopped at the one place was because a worker there actually knew the deceased individual.
This is a problem for all of us. We certainly have the ability to stop this from happening. Why are we sitting on our hands and allowing the fraud to continue unabated? We must make it common practice to clean up voter registration lists and rid them of people who have moved, died or who have been placed on the roles because of deliberate fraudulent action.
Some states allow for early voting which has given rise to a new classification of voter called a "repeater". These people vote repeatedly under assumed names. Imagine how many votes they can cast in a week or more?
Clearly, our work is cut out for us. We need to shine a light on the fraud and we must come up with ways to eliminate it. Photo ID's are certainly one idea. Democrats are against this requirement which is very revealing and very troubling. Of course, voter ID is just one way to bring honesty back to the voting process, but it won't work all on its own. People intent on cheating the system will be able to produce fraudulent ID's so we need to stay one step ahead of them.
We need to allow free access to polling places so that the process can be monitored. Far too many states shut out the public. We should insist that we be allowed to use video and audio devices at the polls. We must insist that Congress enact laws that give us this kind of access to the polls. We must also insist that they do away with mail-in only elections. Oregon is one of those states that does this. Internet voter registration must be banned as well as internet voting.
Either we are serious about cleaning up our act or we are not. Candidates toss millions of dollars around trying to win the nomination. When we go to the polls to cast our votes what good does all this campaigning do when the results are skewed by a segment of our population that is hard at work trying to undermine the process to get their candidate elected.
It's time to take back the elections!
Yours truly,
POP

POP: I just checked the voter fraud cases in Florida, where I reside, and they are minimal. While I realize that even one case of fraud is important, Florida has some laws to minimize the issue. Florida requires a photo ID to vote. I saw it myself when a few years ago a senior ciziten was begging to vote without an ID. She was told no Id, no vote!, and she had to leave. If you ask for an absentee ballot, it will only be sent to the address they have on file, and when you move, as I did this past year, I had to change my address on my license within 20 days, and bring all that information to the voter registration office to get a new voter card. Had I not gone to the voter registration office, my license would not match my address, and I would not be able to vote tomorrow. While there is still some cases of fraud, it is usually on the local level, and minor, although important roles. I believe that Florida has done what they can to minimize voter fraud. I believe that if you don't have a photo ID, you cannot vote, and for the Federal government to go after states which passed a law to require a photo ID, you know that they are targeting those states so they can win.
By the way, I had a salad at a dinner last night which included a very sweet grapefruit. I've never had anything like it. The fruit was a large as a soccer ball. Very interesting, and I'll try to find out what it is called.
Well, I'm off to the bar - Save me a seat......
Pop, it is a shame the system for early voting lends itself to fraudulent voting. When I was a kid i heard votes were cast from the graveyard. I know in our county where my wife often works the polls, the rules for voting are fairly strict and hopefully only one vote per registered voter are allowed. You're right the stakes are high and the integrity of voting shouldn't be compromised by those who would choose to disregard the trust in order to change the outcome.
BPOP - One thing is for sure. We can't count on Holder and the Justice Department to do anything about voter fraud. That's the Democratic Party way.
See ya at the Inn.
The Frog
Pop,
The "Progressives" are too busy trying to demonize anyone who tries to see to it that only eligible voters actually vote. They lable any such effort as "racist disenfranchisement". Such "Pander" bears.
When did right stop being correct?
Its really sad to read about voter frauds. I am totally against it.
This is such an important hub as voter fraud has been rampant in many elections. I think a driver's license or a state ID should be mandatory. It is sad to know that the elected person might not have really been elected at all, but just cheated their way in!
My mother use to work at the polls and there was a woman who brought people in all day long from nursing homes or mental hospitals that didn't even know their names let alone anything about the election. The woman was allowed to go the the polling box with the individual and she would do the voting. That is minor compared to registering all of the Dallas Cowboys in Nevada, plus numerous other forgeries in the last election.
See you at the inn for more discussion.
If all the states required photo IDs in order for voters to vote, some of our esteemed representatives would NEVER get elected!
Sorry if I think this is funny. I used to think that fraud, and government corruptness were just something made up in a good fiction thriller. I would still like to be that naive. I need a drink follow my weekend at work and I be at the inn, save me a seat.
The mere fact that anyone would object to the need for proper ID would be cause for suspician, yet we have those who fight it all the way. I believe in some countries voters are required to dip their finger into ink that takes days to wear off. That serves two purposes. One they can proudly show that they voted, and they can only vote once. Try that system in this country and see how far you get. Many liberals just refuse to even hear of the possiblility of voter fraud, let alone believe it is happening.
Great hub and a big up vote for you, but I will only vote one time.
Ohioans must show ID at the polls now. Also, it is no longer possible to find someone's address by searching Ohio voter registrations; you need a code number from a mailed confirmation of registration and can only check your own registration and address. We had too many multiple voters and the deceased voting in 2008.
I'm definitely in favor of photo ID to vote and am amazed at all the dissenters. Why are they dissenting if they're legally able to vote? Of course when filling in at an insurance company I had three people come in for auto insurance with the same driver's license in one day -- they'd just used the one legal driver's license and it was then passed to two different illegal aliens. Our computers caught the DL numbers. Photo ID for voting just seems like a simple solution if you're eligible to vote? Good Hub -- voted up. Best, Sis
Angela - When I taught GED and did work placement, I had three sisters come in with Ohio State ID Cards all having the same Social Security Number. We had a lot of fraud there 1995 - 2005.
Patty Inglish, MS - I have often asked this question but never get an answer. We are well aware that many illegals use the exact same SS number. Yet when 200 employers send in the SS witholding, the government computers don't flash a light or ring a bell saying something is wrong. They surely don't think this person has a couple hundred jobs spread all across the country. Sure makes me wonder......
One fingerprint, one vote.
Something for us to consider for the upcoming election. Not sure what would be the best approach to preventing fraud. Photo ID's can be copied and cameras never seem to get a clear picture when replayed. Maybe some type of retinal scan or voice recognition would be helpful.. but then we are talking expense. Great hub article!
Voter fraud could easily be so minimized that it would not affect an election except for one thing...Democrats are always adamantly opposed to any attempt to stop voter fraud!
Old Poolman - I don't have an answer except to expect that the IRS computers aren't programmed to react to multiple uses of the SS number and the withholding being too high for one account yet.
I really don't see how anyone could be against voter IDs! Remember - vote early...and often! lol

It is a sad state of affairs that voter fraud continues and it appears no one wants to do anything about it. Anyone who tries is shouted down by various groups including the ACLU. It's too bad. We are just like a banana republic. I am off to the bar. BARTENDER.............
