Hoppel Poppel On Manic Monday
66The Facts
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is February 1, 2010 and I have a delicious breakfast I hope you might like to try. Join me in its preparation and then let's talk about Pres. Obama and his inability to get things right. Today's breakfast is called Hoppel Poppel. You will need 8 small potatoes, Yukon Gold or Red potatoes will do, 1/4 cup olive oil, 6 tablespoons butter, 1 cup diced onion, 2/3 cup mushrooms, 1 cup diced red bell pepper, 1 cup diced all-beef salami, 10 large eggs, 2 tablespoons milk, 1 cup grated cheese and salt and pepper to taste. Boil potatoes until just tender. Let them cool and cut them into 1/4 inch thick slices. In a skillet over medium heat, fry the potatoes in oil, tossing them until they are almost brown. Add the butter to the skillet, then the onion, mushrooms, pepper and salami. Continue cooking until the potatoes get brown, the salami crusty and the vegetables soft. Lightly beat the eggs with the milk and pour into skillet. As the eggs begin to set, sprinkle the cheese on top, cover and cook 6 minutes more. Add salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!
I was thinking of the State of the Union Address, in particular, President Obama's disrespect to the Court and his ignorance of the facts. The President incorrectly stated that foreign nationals and foreign entities can now contribute unlimited amounts of money to U.S. political campaigns because of a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling which removed certain campaign finance restrictions.
I give credit to Justice Samuel Alito for showing constraint when he mouthed the words "not true" when he heard the Presidents assertion. If it were me, I would have shouted out the words, "You Lie" at the top of my lungs, but then again I'm not on the Supreme Court. The Court decision, which our esteemed President and Constitutional lawyer, did not understand lifted restrictions for companies, unions and other organizations to make independent expenditures in campaigns. It does not allow corporations to contribute directly to a campaign or coordinate expenditures with a campaign. It also does not remove existing law that prohibits foreign contributions to political campaigns.
The President also claimed that the Court reversed 100 years of law, an assertion that was also not true. The Court's decision overturned a 1990 decision and parts of the McCain-Feingold bill from 2002, that restricted independent political advertising in the closing days of the election.
How is it possible that the President of the Untied States, who is himself an attorney, and has a staff that can fact-check anything, come before the nation and make up stories? This is a Harvard law school graduate and professor who taught Constitutional law and yet he goes before the nation spouting untruths and at the same time embarrassing himself and disrespecting the Court. Clearly, he didn't read the Court ruling, or he read the ruling and didn't understand it or he didn't care about the truth of his words, only the impact they would have upon a nation that he considers to be lacking in the brain's department. Think about it, it is unbelievable that this could have occured.
Was his desire to disgrace the Supreme Court bigger than his need to tell the truth? Does he even know the truth? Have we been wrong all along about his innate intelligence? Is he so arrogant that he feels he can twist the truth to his advantage and get away with it? All of the above may be true. The one thing I am certain of is that he had no compunction whatsoever about embarrassing the Justices. It was as though this was his great moment to knock them down a peg or two . He should be ashamed of himself and he should be held accountable for his words and actions.
Those who stood and clapped loudly in the direction of the Court are equally culpable and should be in the process of writing an apology to the Justices. I doubt that will ever happen, but it should.
I honestly think that we, the people, should be alarmed at this lapse of judgement and intelligence. After all, this is the President of the United States standing before us, not bothering to get his facts straight or deliberately contorting the facts to produce the desired effect on a populace that he deems too stupid to understand anything, anyway.
Actually, Mr. President, you have severely underestimated the intelligence and savvy of the American people. We are very well informed and aware of your lies and half-truths. Quite honestly, whether it's lies or ignorance, I am still led to the same conclusion. You are in over your head and we, the people, are paying dearly...POP...

I will never be able to come to terms with this type of thing. This is like a third world tactic, not something you would expect from the President. Facts are facts. The ruling wasn't up for interpretation and I consider what Obama did to be a serious breach of conduct or an incredible lapse of intelligent. Either way, what is going on?
POP: Do you really thing that Obummer took the time to read the Supreme Court's opinion? Why did this issue belong in the state of the union address? He didn't state the facts,and embarrassed the Supreme Court. Mission accomplished. What he didn't expect, though, was that a camera would be on the Justices at the same time.
His arrogance will not allow him to apologize. In his mind, he is more supreme than the Supreme Court.

First of all, I agree, his reference tot he Supreme Court decision did not belong in the address. But, considering he brought it up, how embarrassing not to get it right. POP, I guess I'll hold my stance that BERRY BOY, never attended law school, I sent you a video in reference by Dr. Manning that re-enforced the thoughts of others, with strong reference to NONE of the people could remember him ever being where he claimed to be during the time he supposedly went to law school. No photos in the year books or any other evidence to his actual attendance but his graduating certificate. I will continue to think that his rising from no where and coming to his present appointment is mystical. He would probably run aground miserably were it not for his speech writers and the one for the state of the union was not a lawyer so he couldn't help but screw it up, when told to "oh yeah, put something in there about the supreme court decision on campaign money" and he followed orders. It turns out he got his information from a email he read about how screwed we are due to this decision letting China buy our presidents and other political contestants. I've got a feeling he sits and watches his own speeches in the white house theater and sets around saying "MMMMM MMMM foot, needs a little more ketchup"

I think those you suspect his background are on solid footing. A mistake of this kind is incredible and there is no excuse for it. Where is the public uproar? The President stands before the nation, spouts lies, disgraces himself and disrespects the Supreme Court and we hardly hear a thing about it. He is a complete fraud and I would love to find out where he really came from, wouldn't you? Let's meet at the bar later and talk about it. I'm buying.
Outstanding hub. I have been thinking of writing about this occurrence but there is no need as you covered it extremely well. I was appalled at the president's behavior. I think you should send a copy of your hub to him. He is the one that needs the education. You're right, the American people are more savvy than he understands.

Why does the old adage “absolute power, corrupts absolutely” come to mind?
Why is it that it seems this President and his minions in the Congress can so easily ignore the tenants of our Constitution and the laws it substantiates?
Is it arrogance?
Is it the lust for power and control?
Has he become so blinded by perceived star power that the drug of fame has overwhelmed acumen and conscientiousness?
Why is it necessary that We The People of the United States must even contemplate such questions directed to the motives and actions of the President of the United States?
That we must even consider such inquiries defines the essence and abhorrence facing us. The path to reclaiming our Republic has become starkly and shockingly apparent.

His Worship is speaking from experience; there were countless reports which never made the light of day circulating around during the 2008 campaign regarding illegal contributions from overseas entities pouring into King Hussein’s campaign. Why do you think he refused federal funding; they can say what they want about hundreds of thousands of $10 contributors but you can’t afford a campaign like they ran on $10 contributors!
Of course he disrespects the Court; the Court along with the House of Lords (Democrats in Congress) and the House of Commons (Republicans in Congress) are comprised of mere mortals. Justice Alito does deserve the congressional medal for Restraint. However he along with Joe Wilson effectively got their respective messages out and forced the King to unleash his Attack Dogs on them. But unlike the dark days before FOX and talk radio; the truth in their message reached the multitudes and King Hussein was unable to put the genie back in the bottle!
Of course he is familiar with McCain-Feingold; he opted out of federal contributions in the 2008 election so he would not have to report the illegal foreign money he was receiving. Remember those 17 words that haunted George Bush from one of his early State of the Union Addresses regarding weapons of mass destruction? Well I guarantee you this Snake Oil Salesman will never suffer a day from this 35 word lie; that’s how it’s played. Republicans are continually flogged for any and all mistakes while Democrats can continue to lie and never hear about it. I guess that’s because they are Democrats; people expect them to lie!
Regarding the King’s Harvard law school degree; that along with his Birth Certificate have never been seen. Trust me; he tells us it’s there safely locked away in Al Gore’s Social Security Lock Box. Remember that one?
His desire; like all tyrants, is to humiliate his enemies. The court became his enemy when they ruled as they did. Now his side will not have an unfair advantage leading up to the elections this year because those that depend on capitalism; corporations will have an equal say with those that are out to destroy it; Big Labor. Democrats hate a level playing field!
Those who stood and clapped loudly in the direction of the Court were members of his Royal Court. They knew they were expected to react in such a manner and did so for fear of their own royal rumps.

BPOP - Now here is the real stomp on the toes. The original suit that ended up before the supreme court was brought by one of Obamas PACs, and They Won! The Supreme Court was a defeat of the Federal Election Commission and the rules Obamas team didn't want in the first place. So to complain now about overturning something that wasn't even a part of the suit to begin with is either (1) pretty Stupid, or (2) the workings of a political Machiavelli. Problem for the President is once people know the whole truth, (and we do) option 2 turns into option 1.

I wish someone on the Supreme Court would follow their patriotic gut, if in fact they still have one. It makes me wonder... if I were to acquire the experience of years and years in politics and climb all the ropes and kiss all the asses and put up with, put down with, vote yes, vote no.... would I eventually become one of the silent precautionaries (is that a word - it is now) who simply mouth the words they wish to yell at the top of their lungs? One would think they have their career, their livelihood to lose, but... they would go down in history if they would just stand up and declare, "I've had quite enough of this bullshit!!" This was about the State of the Union address and Obama's lie about the Supreme Court decision. I have concluded he believes in the concept that the ends justify the means, so truth does not even exist for him. No such thing as truth, only the story you tell to make your point.

I thought you knew by now Progressives make up facts to suit their mood of the moment. They lie whenever it suits them to do so. They have absolutely no shame to make them employ the truth.
