Lemon Crepes Suzette and the Observer
58Puppets On a String
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, January 26, 2012. Scotty, our alien friend, is in town. He is very anxious to meet with us to discuss how we feel about the mainstream media. Scotty is starving and he has requested a very interesting breakfast this morning. He would appreciate a huge helping of Lemon Crepes Suzette, so let's gather the ingredients and start cooking.
You will need 8 dessert crepes, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 and 1/3 tablespoons sugar juice, 1 finely zested lemon, juice from 1 lemon, 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier, 2 tablespoons brandy and a reliable fire extinguisher.
Melt butter in a pan and add sugar and lemon juice. Add Grand Marnier and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and fold crepes in fourths. Arrange in the sauce. Warm the brandy in the microwave and place in a long handled ladle, lest you set yourself on fire. Ignite the brandy and pour over crepes while flaming. If you manage to live through this, head for POP's house. Scotty will be waiting with some more Grand Marnier.
Welcome, my dear earthling friends. I appreciate your presence here this morning. I am trying to understand how you can maintain your sanity after listening to all the lies and distortions you are subjected to on a daily basis. Your president delivered his State of the Union address and it was filled with half-truths and tired old lines and lies. Were you outraged? Were you disgusted enough to turn off the television and once and for all decide you had enough? Are you not entitled to the truth? You are all being played for fools and it is time to say "enough is enough".
The same is true for the media in your nation. They are using you for their own selfish interests. You aren't getting the news, you are getting one person's take on an event. You are not getting the facts. You are getting distortions, outright lies and lies of omission.
I watched NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams grilling Republican candidate Mitt Romney about his vast wealth. Mr.Williams was dramatic, completely biased and totally unprofessional. He spoke of Mr. Romney's tax returns and wealth with such disdain hoping, I imagine, to further inflame class warfare in your troubled nation. Mr. Romney should have skipped the interview. Mr. Williams isn't up to the task of behaving like a journalist. Mr. Romney should have walked away and Mr. Wiilliams should have gone home to his zillion dollar apartment in Manhattan. All this posturing and idiocy has to end. You will never elect a president that you know anything about unless it does. After all, you elected a president on the basis of one speech and if you haven't learned your lesson about that kind of behavior you never will.
Perhaps you should boycott the networks and their sponsors. They are doing all of you a grave injustice. They are manipulating your access to the news and the truth and you need to stop them..now.
I propose that the method of releasing information be changed. You should dispense the news via a round table discussion. If a fact is presented that is biased or skewed, someone at the table can deal with this infraction immediately. You need to hear the facts, the truth and you also need to hear diverse opinions about an issue all in the same place and time. Fact checking should be mandatory and immediate, so that the bias doesn't have a chance to ferment and grow. Perhaps after a period of time, the clowns who manipulate your access to the truth will be forced out by wiser voices. Take back the airwaves. Take back the written word. Stand up and tell the president and the media that you aren't going to take it anymore...NA, NU, NA, NU...SCOTTY...NU, NA, NU, NA...POP...

Romney should have asked brian Williams how many millions of dollars he gets paid for talking to a camera and spouting the Kremlin, oops, the democrapic ideology. Why does Williams show his tax eturns? It is A-holes like him, who have everything they want, who complain that wealth should be redistributed, but they don't give their money away. All phonies. At lease I do not watch broadcast neteork news. I gave that up about 4 years ago. I am off to the bar. BARTENDER............
BPOP - Anyone who watches the Lame Stream Media news is a lame brain. Case closed...
The Frog
POP: The day after a debate there is always a "Fact Check" that quotes what each person said and then stated the facts surrounding that statement. They even did that with the SOTU address. Somehow I feel that this is top secret. No one speaks about this; no one is screaming about the candidates and their statements. I believe that my candidate will be the one who is speaking the truth, not making it up as he goes. Why doesn't the MSM talk about the facts? That is what we need to hear. I realize it is a pain in the butt to check these things, but it is our duty, so the best candidiate wins.
I'm all for fact checking AND having it stated on NBC, ABC, CNN, CBS, etc.
By the way, I don't understand why Bob Beckel denies facts that are against what Obama has stated or done.
Anyway, I'm rambling again. I'm off to the bar. Someone save me a seat......
Good morning, Pop! I am so in favor of boycotting the media!
"You aren't getting the news, you are getting one person's take on an event. You are not getting the facts. You are getting distortions, outright lies and lies of omission."
Scotty has never made an observation that could be more true than this (in my opinion)! Yippee!
The media is never going to support a Republican, so don't waste your time hoping they will at least be fair.
They won't.
I agree with WillStarr, the media is slanted and will not cover a honest discussion from Republican debates.
Hi Pop, I'm running late so I'm just middle finger punching as it seems there has been a "lame brain" posting here lately as it takes one to know one and I'm betting the jerk, posts something like,"I prefer to not be attacked for my views as they are my own and not necessarily yours. Lets try to stick to the facts along the way" "WE" have made a huge mistake by electing the most unqualified person imaginable to be the POTUS" in his profile. [frog gotta turd in your pocket? to make "WE". Now, "YOU"might have helped elect him, not I!, that's for frucken sure!]
I'll yield Him freedom of speech! Yet I gotta go I'm not up for his stupidity. The way I cut up may have done the same thing to someone else, I'm not sure?
I am sure that when my ass gets chapped I get off the horse.
I saw that Williams vs Romney grilling and I thought here we go again with the media bias. Seems this really took off as popular ways to rip folks running for office in 2008, Like new strategy are they passing super packs off to the media as well? Some thing is bad wrong. They are pitching obama polling's are up to 48% and I think it's false but people want to be on the winning side so I think some soft headed people show up and vote who know nothing but the name of who the folks they work with have been tossing around and they vote that name and wait to hear the braggers of who all the others voted for, then they say "yeah me too", a sad but likely reaction. I heard the one statement Romney made "I didn't inherit any of that money either". I see that swinging two ways "he cheated to get it" or "he's a quick study, that can get americans back in the black" I hope it's the latter and we get on the fast track quickly and I think VP Allen West, military colonel will give him momentum to take the bid. I'm too late for the bar so I'm hitting my special stash A&W Root Beer with aged vanilla and a sack of Antelope Jerky, Peace out, 50
Pop -- great Hub and another absolute group of truths. I've discontinued television at my house as (1) I'm too busy to watch it; and (2) I get too damned mad when I do! The press is on the same track they ran to get the POTUS elected the last time. I think 50's statement about getting off the horse when his butt gets chapped makes great good sense! Loved this Hub! Best, Sis
bp - Brian Williams and many of his MSM contemporaries are so biased I wouldn't trust any of them to tell me the time of day. I just stop watching them.
We should simply have a radio talk show using hubbers speak their mind about politics... there are a lot of people on here that are intelligent and all have different views. I'd listen in. ^_^

Pop and Scotty,
Very cogent observations on the state of our lame stream media.
Viewing and eating tip: If viewing lame stream media news don't ignite the brandy. Drink the alcohol.
