Mango Crepes and a Fairy Tale
59So Easy!
Good morning beloved breakfastpoppers. Today is Friday, October 14, in the year of our kingdom 2011. Sir Warren Muffett, a well known billionaire in the kingdom is wringing his hands in despair. He is frustrated that the government isn't taxing him at a much higher rate. He and King Teleprompter have put their heads together and come up with something called the "Muffett Rule." The "Rule" would close all those nasty loopholes that allow people like Muffett to get away with murder. This comes on the heels of the King's all out attempt to light the flames of class warfare. The unwashed and unmotivated of our kingdom have taken the King's dangerous message to heart and are now very busy marching on the homes of successful people, getting high in the parks and doing an excellent job of blasting through taxpayer's money to pay for their 'Woodstock" moment sans music.
There are others in the kingdom who have come up with a rather splendid and easy solution to this millionaire and billionaire debacle. I think the proposal is cause for celebration so let's prepare some fabulous Mango Crepes for our morning meal and meet far, far away from the rather smelly maddening crowd of protesters. Head for the Sparkling Brook that flows along the Grove of Resplendent Trees.
You will need to gather together 1/2 cup of mango jam, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons orange liquor (life is good!), 1 cup all purpose flour, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup low fat milk, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 2 tablespoons melted butter.
Combine the jam, butter and liquor in a small saucepan and place it over medium heat. Stir until blended and reduce heat to low. Begin preparing your crepes by whisking flour and eggs together in a large bowl. Slowly stir in the milk and water. Add salt and butter and beat mixture until smooth. If you had a crepe maker, things would be very easy, but you don't because it hasn't been invented so read on.
Instead, heat a frying pan over medium heat and spray it with cooking spray. Drop the crepe mixture into the pan in 1/4 cup dollops. Cook each side of the crepe until golden brown. Place on a plate and place waxed paper between crepes to keep them from sticking together. Brush each crepe with a heaping teaspoon of the filling and roll up. Drizzle any left over filling on top of rolled crepe. Wrap them up. On your way out the door grab that bottle of orange liquor. See you in a bit.
Welcome, my dear friends and neighbors. I don't know about you, but I am sick of hearing billionaire Warren Muffett cry and moan about his tax rate. He wants to pay more, much more and President Teleprompter is so happy to hear it. Of course, one has to wonder why Muffett's company Bershire Whirlaway, owes tons of taxes dating back to 2002. It doesn't make sense, but then, what does these days?
In any case, I have good news for Mr. Muffett and other's who applaud his sentiments. South Dakota Senator John Thune and Louisanna Rep. Steve Scalise have introduced legislation with the wonderful and oh so simple option of voluntary donating money to the Treasury on their tax forms. How simple and how glorious life can be when you cut through the rhetoric and get to the point. If people like Mr. Muffett and King Teleprompter want to fork over their personal money towards paying down the debt, they should be able to so and now it is all going to be so simple. If they all give out of the goodness of their hearts perhaps we won't have to heap taxes upon small business and people who are struggling to make ends meet.
President Teleprompter can stop trying to stir the ugly waters of class warfare and make an attempt to help solve our kingdom's problems. So my friends I say let us raise our crepes on high to a new era. All those people in Hollywood who support the protesters in the kingdom can just sign on the dotted line along with Sir Muffett and all his friends and bring our kingdom back to solvency. Oh happy day, oh happy day...POP...
Oh happy day
Oh happy day
When Muffet paid

I think if people want to pay more tax they should do it. That would be putting their money where thir mouth is, wouldn't it? They should just shut up, and worry more about the class warfare that the king is waging rather than not getting a big tax bill in the mail. If you want to pay more, just pay more. Give some extra money to the anarchists and communists occupying Wall Street. Give them money and maybe they will clean themselves up, stop screwing in the park, stop shitting in the park and maybe look for a job or do volunteer work. It is interesting that all these people are inconveiencing a lot of people but this morning, when cameras were on them, they were hiding their faces. The world if full of fools and frauds, many of which are in lower Manhattan and others are in Omaha Nebraska and Hollywood California. It's a great country! To the inn. INNKEEPER...........
Pop,
Great Hub. I see the plan to clean the park in NYC has come a cropper. Oh woe. Warren Muffett puts me in the mood of that famous Muppet, Oscar the Grouch!!!!!!!!!!!
POP: You have a good point - If Mr. Muffett wants to pay more, then why does his business owe taxes? I forgot about that! Send that to Hannity and let him run with it! I wonder how Oprah and Bill Gates feel about this new legislation. They signed a form stating that they wanted to pay more - now let's see them do it!
Maven: Soylent Green is one of my favorite movies. Great point - scoop the Wall street protestors up and put them in a giant shower!
I'm off to the bar now, I am bringing white-out for taxlarry --someone, please save me a seat.....
As always a great write and I must agree with taxlarry. Can you believe it, we even have these protesters sitting in the nearby city of Asheville and King Teleprompter is scheduled to make an appearance in that fair city this week end. I'm heading for the hills and watching my rear.
Hi Pop! Sometimes I think people should just be quiet and do privately what they want to do instead of announcing it publicly - in the case of Mr. Muffet!
Have a great Friday!
Pop, too easy, and legislation to shut buffets piehole is our guber-ment at work, I'll see you at the Inn but gotta go by Wall Street fist and pinch a loaf on a cop car, 50
Mango is one of my favorite fruit. You can find these fruit easily in my country. Good combination between mango and crepes. I love your recipes. Vote up and have a nice weekend!

Who would be hurt the most with the president's tax the rich scheme? The middle class. It's right there in front of our eyes. Obama's communist agitators have enrolled the wealthiest and the bottomfeeders. The object is to destroy the middle class. Communist society has only two classes - elite and poor.
Gosh, so many others in the wealthy class would just love to pay more taxes, but those darn tax loopholes just won't let them. I wonder what the solution could be?
that sounds really good. I love mangoes. good recipes
Looks to me like the Wall Street protests are simply one massive demonstration of the results of poor parenting.
A point in case: My wife's son, who turns 26 next month, is one fine, aware, diligent, hardworking husband and father these days...but at the age of sixteen (and even eighteen) he had, shall we say, "issues".
For one thing, he truly believed he shouldn't have to learn anything he didn't CARE about, which left him well short of high school graduation. For another, he believed the world owed him a living and he should never have to WORK at anything he didn't care about, either. Literally, that's what he believed.
But he did notice what his Mom and I were saying and--most importantly--doing. When our next egg ran out in 2006 and I went immediately back to work in a tough industry to support his beloved mother in a style which allowed her a chance at survival, he noticed. When we bailed him out of this or that jam (he had a few) but then worked closely with him to get squared away so he could get his driver's license back, he noticed.
And somewhere in there, he began to change, to limit and then abandon certain "recreational activities" entirely. To find work wherever he could find it, and to do it well.
By the time he hit his 23rd birthday (or thereabouts), he had his poop in a group. He's now intending to get his G.E.D., even!
My point: Something tells me the protesters (regardless of age) drew the short straw when it came to Mommies and Daddies--even stepDaddies.
It's the Gimme Mentality exacerbated to the max.
sister Blessings. Love the recipe yummy to the tummie. Love your writing here. You are great. I stopped in for a quick update. I have another grandchild so have been busy!! Lovin it. Anything that does not stand with GOD will fall. God help us. Keep praying America. God can restore us. Repent and restore. Love ya my friend. Hugs
And like the protestors, the idea of giving Money to pay down the Debt should be spread by them, along with Envelopes addressed to Washington, problem Solved! and we can all be singing "Do You Believe in Magic"...NOT! Good Hub, Breakfastpops, have a Nice weekend.
I don't know. It seems to me that the City of New York did its part to help instill a certain minimal work & responsibility ethic. When threatened to be run out of the park they were using, the group apparently had the inspiration to locate some brooms and clean up, thus being rewarded by not being run out of the park. In a way, they earned it, and one hopes that at least one in the group might realize their earning potential if they were to put a little more effort into their work.
Hi, bp. In the midst of all this bad news protesting, there is some good news. Did you read today that the Obummy administration had to cancel a major part of the ObamaCare Law concerning the CLASS Long-Term Insurance Program. Seems they finally realized there was no way to guarantee its funding as they had previously promised.
The wall street mob doesn't even know why they are there! This is the Democrat party of today! backed by Obama and Pelosi and Zoros! Oh and did I mention Bill Maher? Open your eyes world, we are the Tea Party patrons, those are the Democrat party of today! ........maybe time to switch parties for those who still have half a brain!
EXACTLY Pop! If they want to pay more - write that check to the Treasury! Just leave their hands off of the rest of us and our money! Your writing is SO logical and practical and informative! I'm your biggest fan! And here's hoping you're feeling much healthier! ;-) love, c
I'll try your crepes and stay out of political debate! Voted up and interesting.
Loved the hub, the politico-commentary more than the recipe, but the recipe was pretty cool too. I also loved all the follow up comments, and learned a great deal by just reading and being quiet (which is a feat for me).
Now then ... were's the Inn?
BreakfastPop, I agree, their interest at the moment does not appear to be in learning anything. But that does not matter, the slow part of growing up comes later when you think back on what you did and wonder if you could have done things differently or better, and you ask yourself 'what were we protesting anyway'. That said, the essential difference between those protesting and those saying 'look at the protestors', is that the latter group is more likely to have 'been there, done that' and had that opportunity to reflect on what the act accomplished.
What is accomplished is that the protestors, or perhaps the protest organizers, see that others support their values, that the sense of outrage is shared. When a large disparate group of people have a common goal, then it becomes possible to develop a long and lasting solution. But it takes work, you can’t go in with a list of demands for instantaneous change, and hope that the protest alone solves everything. That only serves to divide people, and nothing is gained by that. Without follow-through, the noise of the protest is only that much more noise added to the chaos. You can’t reach a goal by only taking about it.
In my life, I’ve met only a rare few who hold true to an ethic ‘It’s all mine, I’ll take it anyhow I can, you can’t have any, and catch me if you can’. Most people dislike that sort of person, and many know who to call to deal with them (legally, that is). Most of those inside the system would like to get rid of the corruption and greed also, it is only those rare few who seek to benefit by gaming the system that want things to stay the way they are. The folks who participate in ‘Occupy Wall Street’ might be better off recognizing that what leaves us with a bad taste about any large group, is, almost always, the result of widely reported actions of a few. They would be better off recognizing that, and seeking to work to eliminate the corruption and make the changes they seek, rather than ‘demand’ changes to the system.
I made a comment with this gist to the Hub ‘Occupy Wall Street’, but it got deleted.
The shame of it all is although Buffet is a democrat, I never considered him to be that easily "used". Maybe him and that other dem who became a multi-millionaire as Google's marketing chief can easy their conscience by voluntarily mailing their money to the treasury. It would seem that Mr. Buffet would just order his companies to pay the IRS whatever is alledged to be owed rather than argue as apparently they are. Anyone who wants to pay more taxes should be free to do so but those of us who question the spending practices and the money management of our tax dollars also deserve a level of respect. I'll be glad to listen to request for increased taxes when we get the wasteful spending under control...that's the priority and the only solution to eliminating deficit debt accumulation. Morning POP...An appeal to the generosity of liberals can only work if they are assured of getting public credit for such...
Looking at that mess on Wall Street, I'm reminded of a scene from Soylent Green when the government used skip loaders to scoop up protesters and dump them into a high-sided truck that hauled them off to the processing plants...just some delicious thoughts this Friday morning...Larry
