Nutty Apple Toast and a Lesson in Fraud

So Easy...

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, September 28, 2011. School is in session today and this morning we will be learning how illegal aliens "play the system" and fool the I.R.S. and the American people. Let's prepare a simple but delicious breakfast. Today we will be putting together some Nutty Apple Toast to take to class. You will need 1 piece of whole wheat toast, 1 tablespoon apple butter, 1 tablespoon wheat germ, 1 tablespoon peanut butter and a bit of water. Simply mix together the apple butter, wheat germ, peanut butter and water and spread on your toast. Fill your thermos with an Irish Coffee and head for class. Don't forget a pencil and paper.

Welcome students. Let's begin class with the following statement. Illegal aliens in the United States were paid $4.2 billion in refundable credits because they know exactly how to manipulate the I.R.S. This startling piece of information was contained in a Treasury report that declared that foreign nationals who are not authorized to work in the U.S. and are not eligible to have a Social Security Number are receiving benefits from the Internal Revenue System. Try not to choke on your nutty toast.

Despite laws to the contrary some undocumented workers receive benefits such as the Child Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit which allow payments of federal funds (our tax money) to people who are here illegally. Those filing for this money use fraudulent social security numbers and phony names.

The federal government is doing a hideous job keeping track of these transgressions and savvy illegal aliens know exactly how to take advantage of our incompetence. It is interesting to note that the IRS contends that they don't have the manpower or desire to verify applicants. Think about this. President Obama wants to raise our taxes but has no trouble giving illegal aliens refunds that they are not entitled to.

It is no wonder that aliens are jumping over fences and creeping through tunnels to get to the U.S. Failure to control our borders is costing us our lives in more ways than one. This is certainly the land of opportunity, more so than we ever dreamed.. Class dismissed...POP...

Incredible! Just think, if I decided to deduct more charitable contributions in my tax return that I actually had, I would probably be audited. Or, if I omitted some income, I would be audited. But illegals, with phony or stolen SS numbers can get away with grand larceny with OUR MONEY! And the empty suit in the white house wants to raise our taxes? We are turning into a fascist country faster than we think. There better be a revloution at the voting booths next year or there will be rioting in the streets. I am off to the bar. No Irish coffee today. JD rocks! BARTENDER.........

The tax system is a sore spot for most of us but when our tax system becomes a giveaway program with such loop holes, it has become a giveaway foreign aid program. Its enough to make a preacher cuss.

This indeed is the point the Republicans must make with the general public. Stop asking for more money when you are already "mis-managing" the money you are taking from us. This is insane and has no element of a solution to it. In the computerized era of today, we should be much better equipped to spot fraud on a rather efficient basis. Things like this cannot be spotted as long as we have a government willing to turn a blind eye to everything but redistribution of wealth. WB

Good morning taxlarry,

It is so infuriating. All we hear about from the WH is amnesty and a delay in deportations and that our borders are safer than ever. The truth is that our borders are porous and our government turns a blind eye to fraud when it comes to people who are here illegally applying for tax credits that they haven't earned. Like you pointed out, try something like that and the IRS would be all over you. See you at the Inn.

Good morning Wayne,

It's pathetic but the IRS stated that they have no desire to check resident status. I guess it's way too much trouble tracking down all those phony or stolen SSN's as well. See you at the Inn.

POP: Obama and the WH recently stated that they will not go after or deport any illegal who is abiding by the law. It appears to me that they are all committing grand theft. Stolen SS numbers? Assumed names? Tax Refund money? $4.2 billion can put a small dent into our deficit. I am sickened by this, and must take myself to the bar. Someone please save me a seat.....

Dear American Romance,

I guess the prospect of all those illegal alien votes is just more attractive than the rest of us who pay our taxes and live by the rues. See you at the Inn.

Nick Lucas 8 months ago

Nice piece! With the above facts you mentioned there is no wonder why the US is in such debt. I use to work for the IRS and know from personal experience that the IRS does have the man power but simply does not care as I myself was told to ignore certain things or people even though they were in violation. Thus it is clear that Obama and the Gov do not really want to stop certain illegal activities...only stop the legal or illegal ones that impose on their agenda......such as the Ford commercial they had removed simply because it stated that Ford did not take a bail out....

Some people say that Herman Cain is not a strong because he is not a politician. However, Perry, Romney, Pawlenty, candidate, for starters, have been soft on illegals. And that is because, as politicians, they don't want to offend anyone. On the other hand, Herman Cain, is not a "career politician."

so, go do the math. BTW, ever wonder if Obama is an illegal alien?

BTW, Cain got his BA in Math.

Just like the economic problems started before he was sworn in, so were the illegal alien recieving benifits, even in Texas. Both parties pander to the adults and children of the people you reference. This President has made no laws or policies that has been excepted or implemented.

BP if you are tired of illegal aliens getting tax breaks, you have to start way before the Mexicans all the way back to the Europeans. I don't recall reading about any foreign demand for them during any period. In fact Europeans generally don't like other Europeans invading their soil. To be safe try and get the Native American line on that will ya.

breakfastpop Hub Author 8 months ago

Dear Junko,

I agree the problem has existed for a long time, but clearly things are much worse no. The violence at our borders must be addressed and hearing Napolitano say that the borders have never been safer is not truthful or helpful. Just ask the people who live in fear. As for the abuse of our system, that should be addressed now, as well.We are in trouble financially and now is not the time to be handing out billions of dollars to people who are here illegally.. President Obama is president now and this is his problem. The buck stops with him.

Good morning pointblank,

I'm not sure what you are trying to say here, but key to this hub is that we have a huge amount of people in our country here illegally and until we address the problem it will grow and grow and grow. It is already out of control and frankly considering our fiscal mess, handing out billions to people who ask for by committing fraud is insane.

The United States is a candy-land to illegals, so if we want them to stop coming, we have to get rid of the candy.

We need go after employers who hire illegals, and go after the government programs that dole out benefits to illegals.

We also need to pass an amendment that says children born in the US illegally are not US citizens!

Is there an Inn on the Moon where it's safer, please? We'll take Buzz Aldrin with us - he's fun. Oh. He will need a mailbox for his pensions maybe....

Pop, growing up in Arizona north of the Sanoran area of Mexico in a mining town called Ray and just a few miles away was a small town named Sonora. It was sorta segregation by choice as our neighbors directly behind us and to the left were Mexican. Mrs. Ortiz looked after me while dad was at work. She taught me to cook.

Point? It was an era that probably 100 percent of them were, by todays standards "Illegals" and this bitter battle will have to over look these people, they have been here since the 40s, worked and paid every cent required by Social Security as well as having paid their share of taxes. Both Mr. and Mrs. Ortiz are now retired after raising 3 good kids and sending 2 to college. Mr. Ortiz draws the same retirement fund my father did until he died and BP after buying the mine took responsibility and left the retirement and full medical package intact that the Kennecott, Ray Mines Div. offered. They get a visit from me on occasion and are good decent folks that speak English and that was not the case when I was 5, she taught me Spanish and learned English as she helped with my homework as well as her own kids at the same time. By first grade her generosity of taking me and little brother under her wing resulted in her children speaking enough English to attend our first three years of school in a single room for 1st to 3rd grade kids. Neither ever became on paper official citizens, yet you cannot morally deny that they are.

The grocery was owned and run by "Olly Hing" who was an ex railroad slave from the era of this country taking them for cheap labor. They wore the little hat like the cook on "Bonanza" braided hair, mustaches and the like, traditional Chinese garb of the era. Olly died when I was 12 after his work on the railroad and getting turned loose, he opened the small grocery to feed his family and provide a grocery for two towns owned by the mine. The mine owned all the mineral rights and floated all the business from hospital, movie house, Rexall Drug store, just every thing you can think of, it was a self sufficient town and it was built on social class as well, the further up the mountain side, the better the housing and the higher paid employees.

At any-rate there existed a high percentage of a time when they could ride their donkeys across the border and get a job and social security number and learn English, becoming productive members that it took in an era of low technology, pick and shovel hand rock drills for dynamiting the ore loose. In the upper edges of the mine were two machine gun "Pillboxes" that were manned to ward off the likes of Poncho Villa into the late 50s. A very colorful era to grow up in. These illegals will have to be accepted, no two ways about it.

Question is where do we draw the hard line in the sand? Today would be a good day to do that. Then a decision of how far back to go in making it retroactive? There exists an era of no body caring and the people told no lies and didn't steal social security numbers or falsify any documents as obama has, and went on to work and follow the laws, pay their taxes, in general become part of America working 30 plus years and paying under a legally obtained social security number, enlist, fight and die in wars, now drawing social security that they paid full quarters for those 30 years. We cannot deny these types of people their due. One man Joe Robles, fought in Korea as a Marine, he was/is technically an illegal. We called him "Loco Joe" he had metal plates in his head from getting hit in Korea by a chunk of land mine, he was a funny funny man, he wasn't all there, seemed he lost a fish off his stringer, but despite it all he drove a haulage truck in the mine until he retired.

OH! the tangled web that has been woven by overlooking these laws for a hundred years. It's like smoking cigarettes, the doctors told folks to smoke, it will calm your nerves and on, religions didn't care, now the surgeon general puts out warnings, it is now a sin in most religions, you can't smoke even in bars all in all a huge over regulated joke taken to the extreme. the surgeon general is "Major Stupidity" or "General Nonsense" take your pick, it's just a good example of "American Over-reaction" to an issue that once was no issue at all.

'Nuff said on a topic that I could discuss for hours, I just hope that somebody turns their brain on before taking action on this topic that is plain to seen that 09/11/2001 was too late so we need a date to set that is not too early and an appeals process.

I'm ready to drink about it and it appears as I will be in good company at the Inn, 50

Dear 50,

You make perfect sense. The whole point is that if we continue to ignore this problem no good can come of it. We now have violence from the cartels to deal with and billions of dollars worth of fraud. We need to come up with a plan and enact it giving full consideration to those people who have been here a long time. We need to deal with this problem with common sense and compassion because continuing to ignore it just won't cut it anymore. See you at the Inn, 50.

"I saw film footage about 3 years ago on a major network, of a whole town in south California that was nothing but mailboxes that received Social Security checks."

The small US town of Douglas, Arizona adjoins Agua Prieta, on the Mexican side of the border. Once a month, citizens of Agua Pieta stream across the border to claim their checks at their rented Douglas Post Office Box. Then they buy from Douglas merchants with their US government largesse, and return to Mexico.

Americans who live near Douglas know to stay away that day because the merchants will ignore them and wait on Mexican customers first. I found that out the hard way.

I have to say - this is what took me from "I think I want to get behind Perry's run" to "I think I want to kick Perry's behind and keep him from running...before I punch him in the nose..."

Cain is looking better and better for me because I believe he'd get very tough on ILLEGAL aliens (yes folks - if they are undocumented they are here ILLEGALLY - and DO NOT BELONG HERE). Every other country would kick them right into jail never mind send them back where they came from - the Democratic party has developed this nonsense about illegals and these entitlement programs to make a voting base. Undocumented - then they can have them vote three or four or more times along with the dead. It's JUST SICKENING!

Not your Hub though - as always you nail it right on the head and you do it with FLAIR!! Voted up and all the way across!

That's because they want the Latino vote, and they vote for those who created this legal thievery...the Democrats!

The spineless Republicans refuse to stand up and get rid of such theft because they fear that they might lose the few Latino votes they do get!

In Douglas, you must be able to speak Spanish to get a retail job. Most border towns require bilinguals, and most of the money spent came originally from American taxpayers.
