Pain Perdu and a Letter
57I'm Tired...
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, December 19, 2011. I woke up this morning with one overwhelming emotion. I am tired and I want to go home. Please join me for some Pain Perdu while I gather my thoughts.
You will need 3/4 cup reduced fat milk, 2 tablespoons sugar-divided, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 3 large eggs-beaten, 8 diagonal slices of day old French bread, 2 cups fresh sliced strawberries, 2 teaspoons grated orange zest, 4 teaspoons butter-divided, 2 tablespoons powdered sugar and low-fat whipped topping.
Whisk milk, 1 tablespoon sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, salt and eggs together in a large bowl. Place bread slices in a 13 by 9 baking dish and pour egg mixture over the bread. Turn to coat on both sides. Let stand for 20 minutes and turn occasioally until the mixture is absorbed.
Combine strawberries with remaining sugar and orange zest and let stand for 20 minutes. Mix yourself several Bloody Marys while you wait. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add 4 bread slices and brown on each side. Repeat procedure with the other slices. Place slices on a plate and top with powdered sugar and strawberry mixture. Add whipped topping and enjoy. I feel a letter coming on.
To whom it may concern,
I am tired and I want to go home to a country that championed achievement and encouraged success. I am tired of listening to President Obama vilify the rich by calling them"fat cats" and evil, all the while courting them with his hand out asking for money for his campaign. I am tired of President Obama's rude dismissal of the Tea Party and his whole hearted acceptance of the Occupy Wall Street Movement. I am tired of the press lauding these people, as well, ignoring the puppeteers like George Soros who are pulling the strings.
I am so tired of the mainstream media's perversion of the intent of journalism. They shower the airwaves with half truths and propaganda and they knowingly create a nation of misinformed voters. I am tired of the organized attack on Fox News. It is a blatant attempt to stop the public from hearing both sides of an issue. I am tired of this administration's support of this effort.
I am tired of watching First Lady Michelle Obama spend tons of money on lavish trips outside of this country, all the while asking us to sacrifice. I am tired of President Obama disgracing us by insulting our allies. Returning the bust of Winston Churchill was appalling and embarrassing. I am tired of President Obama treating Israel with such disdain. Prime Minister Netanyahu deserved better than he got when he visited here. So did the Dali Lama. He was ushered into the White House by a back door passing garbage cans on his way, lest the president insult China.
I am tired of President Obama's associations with communists and socialists. According to one of his fellow students in Occidental College, the president was a fervent Marxist. We have every reason to believe that he still is. I am tired of hearing the President of the United States openly admit that free enterprise and capitalism don't work. I am tired of not hearing the uproar that should have followed such a remark. I am tired of knowing that President Obama knowingly and deliberately appointed people to his administration whose beliefs are at polar opposites to the foundations our nation was built upon.
I am tired of watching way too many people, both inside Congress and out, sleep through all of this. I am tired and I want to go home...POP...

POP: I am tired too. Obama's agenda is clear now, and still he has a following. The MSM is biased, and still people take their word as the gospel truth. Capitalism is what built this country, and still there are people who want to take it down. I do not understand, and I, too, am tired.
I am leaving for the bar now. I feel very comfortable knowing that I am in a place with like-thinking people. Save me a seat....
Pop,
I feel your pain and tiredness and totally share the feeling. I just heard this morning that Atty. Gen Holder is playing the race card to explain his and President Obamas unpopularity. What lame, tired excuses!!!!!!!!
I'M TIRED TOO!!!!!!!!!!
Drinks are on me!!!!!!!!!
POP - I unnerstan' I am in my busiest season at the Hospital so haven't been around much, but aside from all that the political and cultural mental fatigue is wearing, when I get this way I am fortunate to be able to just look around me and know that I have to keep strong for those I serve, November 2012 will be here before you know it but for many days it will seem like an eternity, patience and knowing when and where to make the fight is critical so keep in the game, we are with you, and I'll be with you in spirit at the inn, hoist a mug for me, let Pino have my seat. Love ya all and Merry Christmas!
Me? I'm tired, bordering on weary, of enduring One Bad Assed Mistake America. We need to put this nightmare in our rear view mirror and get back to making my country dependent on self-determination, self reliance, drive and motivation, free markets without undue government interference and free of one very arrogant narcissist.
Have a Merry Christmas. I don't care if that's supposedly politically incorrect or not. I'm tired of all that BS too.
The Frog
Pop, I'm not tired I'm itching for a fight, let them bring it, now I'm bar bound, 50
Another well put together hub on what's happening. I have faith that more and more people are getting on board thanks to you and others that put into layman's terms exactly what we're thinking and seeing without all the drama. Merry Christmas!
Breakfastpops, Amen to all that you have written today. I think we are all so tired and now need the RIGHT changes in Washington, which I pray...No, I know is going to happen...I have Faith in the American People and they are FED Up too. Thanks for a well though out and written Hub.
Merry Christmas my Friend.
I am tired of it all too bpop!
Lets rest up over the holidays and kicks behind, all fresh Jan 2, 2011!!
in the mean time, I'm headin for the bar!
Agreed. Well said. Sad that government has truly exhausted the people at this point. Praying that as the new year approaches, a new fire will be kindled in each of us to reclaim the great nation that is slowly being stolen from us.
Sounds like Barack is codependent big-time, especially to pass the Dali Lama by a line of trashcans. Dali Lama does not care, making him more mature and strong in spirit. Dali Lama for President, running against my friend Motala Elephant for the GOP!
I feel very bad about the President and our country and all who are co-dependent. It is a mental illness that helps nothing, but it can be broken if a person wants to break it. I am praying. But I will still accompany you to the Inn for a good time. May the Dali Lama and Motala join us?
When Rush Limbaugh said that this Reverend-Wright-educated president intended to bring hated America to her knees, I thought he was wrong.
He was right.
Everything Barack Obama has done has further damaged our economy and handcuffed prosperity. If he is reelected, America will no longer be the leader of the free world.
Definitely grounds for a good night at the tavern. Save me a seat.
I'm NOT tired; in fact, the very first comment echoing my own thoughts was Dusty's: I'm also "itching for a fight" and raring to go.
Not that this isn't a worthy Hub; it most definitely is. For one thing, it has inspired my NEXT page, to be published in a few hours (hopefully).
Voted Up and Several.
I fully understand your weariness, bp, but don't lose your energy or your hope. We can turn this country around by letting all the 'varmints' run back to their holes and replacing them with new blood who have pride in America and support our Constitution.
Pop,
I too am tired. Your hub echoes my feelings almost exactly. I am really exhausted.
But I will NOT give up until we get our country back.
I will probably need life support before it's over. :-(
Voted up and kudos!
Save me a seat at the inn!

I think many of are just as tired. We just have tohave the resolve to kick these bastards out of office next year. We can't sit back on our butts and do nothing. We may need a revolution. The occupy wall street morons are nothing more than Obumma campaign workers. Remember that, and remind your friends what the stakes are. I am heading to the bar to wash down that delicious pain perdu. BARTENDER.............
