Peanut Butter Toast and the Destruction of Freedom

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, September 7, 2011. School is in session this morning and the topic for today is "The Destruction of Freedom". Let's prepare some Peanut Butter French Toast and head for class. You will need 1/4 cup milk, 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 pinch nutmeg, 1 pinch cinnamon, 1 banana for each sandwich, peanut butter and 2 slices of bread for each sandwich. Mix together milk, egg, sugar and spices. Set aside. Spread peanut butter on one side of each piece of bread. Slice banana lengthwise and layer it on top of peanut butter. Top with second slice of bread which is spread with peanut butter. Dip both sides of sandwich in batter and fry in buttered pan over medium heat. Wrap up your sandwich and fill your thermos with Cafe Amores. Class begins shortly.
Welcome future leaders of America. Sharpen your pencils this morning because today's session is very important. If you wish to take this nation in the direction it is heading under the Obama administration than do as he does. The 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks is almost upon us. The White House has issued guidelines to government officials instructing them how to observe and discuss this day. Gone is the freedom to remember this day as one sees fit. One of the first things President Obama did upon coming into office was to change the name of this day of remembrance. He sought to diffuse and lessen its meaning by referring to it as a Day of Service as well as remembrance. Never mind that this change did not resonate with the people. The attack on the memory and meaning of September 11th had begun and it was the president himself who fired the first shot.
President Obama wants government officials to remember that terror groups have also killed innocent individuals in other localities across the globe. Never mind that September 11th has not a thing to do with any other terror attacks anywhere in this world. September 11th is about America and America alone. When it is your turn to lead, emulate the president and stress that this really isn't only about the United States. Our enemies will appreciate the attempt to downgrade the importance of this day. After all the goal of this administration and your future administrations is to ensure that America is nothing more than a cog in a wheel.
President Obama has told American embassies throughout the world to emphasize that we honor and celebrate families on every continent. Don't let the fact that this is about Sept 11th and America get in your way. The president doesn't let it deter him and you shouldn't either. Now keep in mind that the president prefers that we not mention Al Qaeda in our ceremonies or discussions lest we upset the Arab world. Try very hard not to mention Islam and terror in the same sentence.
Gone are the days when Americans are free to mourn their loved ones as they see fit. The Mayor of New York clearly likes this trend. He has completely hijacked the ceremony at Ground Zero, eliminating prayer and the reading of the names of the dead. Perhaps he received his marching orders directly from the White House. Should you graduate from school and find yourself mayor of New York, Mayor Bloomberg would be a great person to imitate, particularly if you wish to destroy freedom and make bosom buddies of your enemies.
Today's class gave you much to think about. Of course, if you prefer the America that once was, there is a lesson in here for you too. Class dismissed and God Bless America.

Shhhhhhhhhhh, whatever you do don’t mention Al Qaeda, you may hurt their feelings. Besides everyone it was NASA that flew those planes into the Trade Center, that’s why the Space Program was cancelled; that and the fact there were no Moslem Space Shuttles flying about so it wasn’t fair that we had one; might hurt their feelings!

We must refer to 9/11 as a Day of Service instead of Remembrance? What utter garbage. Is that 'service' as in servitude to Islam? Must be.
POP: On behalf of the almost 3000 people who died that day, I will not change this to a day of service. I will remember it as the day our country was attacked by Al Quada and Muslims. I will remember the dancing in the streets in celebration of our attempted destruction. Obama can say what he likes but I will remember that Muslims are my enemy.

Um not so sure what the fried banana pb sandwich has to do with this but don't you think you're getting upset over something just to be upset at Obama? Sorry, but I don't get angry when I hear day of service. Doesn't that mean service to our country? Service to our neighbors? Plus, isn't "holding service" something Christians do when they attend church? Nope, not enraged. Befuddled as to why you are.
The president wants to dictate what is said in terms of 9/11 so that he can relieve tensions with Islam. What about shutting up Maxine Waters and Al Sharpton a while and relieve some tension among Americans. Hoffa's remarks regarding The Tea Party were totally not of line and no one on the Democrat side of the aisle was willing to point that out. I shudder to think how much of a tirade would be going on if the situation was reversed. WB

Welcome to breakfastpop where we share a recipe and breakfast and talk about political and social issues. That explains the peanut butter french toast. As far as President Obama immediately changing the name of Sept 11, I found it to be an attempt to dilute and diffuse the meaning of that day. This day is about loss. This day marks a vicious attack by Muslim extremists on our soil. This day will live in infamy. Three thousand innocent men and women left their homes and went to work on that day and never came home. I live in New Jersey and I saw the smoke fill the sky after the attacks. Some of my neighbors never returned home. This day has not a thing to do with President Obama or what he thinks. It is about all those who lost their lives on that day and the loved ones they left behind. They will mark this day as they see fit and so will the rest of us.

Some of the problem, I think, that some have with the war on terror is it lack as a concrete enemy. by thqt I mean, traditional wars have something like a country to identify as an enemy.We could envision it. An ideology is much harder for people to grasp as an enemy.
Thank you for the explanation on the sandwich. I still don't see how calling it a day of service somehow forces you to stop mourning or somehow puts an obstacle in your way of how you feel you should live on that day. I just think you're blowing it out of proportion. Their is no one saying you can't pray or cry or hug or scream out at the top of your lungs. No one can stop you from that and i really don't think that is what the Obama admiinistartion is trying to do here. Granted, I don't know enough about it to know what he is trying to do, but obstructing you from mourning in your own personal way is definitely not it.

EXACTLY Pop - what lessons have we learned? To repeat the mistakes of our past. Right now, I guarantee some terrorist just like Bin Laden is sitting crossed legged on the floor with his minions saying, "The United States is a paper tiger..." and plotting to "take us out." Between what this President has done in Iraq and Afghanistan (lately) with this planned withdrawal, before that his "apology to the world tour", instructing all of his people NEVER to say the word terror or terrorist and now this 9/11 debacle (just to take some off the top). It just disgusts me.

will never forget the absolute horror of September 11, 2001.
At every mention of that day, my chest tightens, my breathing changes, my eyes well up with tears. My body responds to mention of the Holocaust in much the same way.
I find it difficult to believe that it's been 10 years since the perpetration of the horrendous acts that occurred that day. I knew people flying in the plane that I watched plow into a building in which my husband worked.
I dropped him off at work innumerable times, always awestruck by it's appearance. I walked in it's concourse, I attended parties at Windows on the World. I knew of some of the people on flight 93 whose courageous passengers fought to prevent another catastrophe in Washington DC.
It was perpetrated by a people who declared Jihad on us. They weren't Buddhists,or Christians, or Jews or Lutherans.
Why are we so politically correct that we are not permitted to narrow the playing field in order to look for the people who might be looking to cause us more harm.
Naturally, there are good people in every ethnic and religious group, but we know our enemy, yet we fail to
