Good morning beloved breakfastpoppers. Today is Friday, April 9, in the year of our kingdom 2010. There is a great deal of excitement in the air. We, the people, of the Kingdom of Dem are starting to assert ourselves. We have had enough of the King and his Court and now it is our turn to enact the kind of "change" we can believe in. Let us prepare a delightful breakfast called Red Sunrise and then let us meet outside the castle. The King and his Court are in recess, so we can meet very openly. No need for costumes this time. To prepare our morning repast you will need a sprinkling of water, 1 pound of frozen rhubarb, sugar, vanilla and vanilla yogurt, all to taste and some of your favorite granola. Feel free to experiment with taste and amounts of ingredients. Swirl the water in a saucepan so that the rhubarb doesn't burn and cook very slowly over med-low heat until fruit is juicy. Add sugar and vanilla. Take a small glass and add fruit, then yogurt and granola and enjoy. Bring your glass to the castle, we are going to draft a resolution and present it to the King and his privileged court.
Welcome everyone. The time has come to take a stand and put a stop to all this "change" the King has planned for our kingdom. We have had enough and now is the time to take back our Kingdom. If King Teleprompter and his band of willing cohorts are allowed to proceed unchecked, all will be lost. It has only been a bit over a year since the King took the throne and already our tiny nation is a shadow of its former self. Our health care is now being directed by the elite in the castle, our taxes are rising and will continue to rise, our retirement benefits are in peril, our kingdom is vulnerable in terms of security and in great danger fiscally because of all the irresponsible spending. Our standing in the rest of the world is diminished due to a concerted effort on the King's part to apologize to all our enemies. Now he is determined to reduce our weaponry arsenal. We can't let this continue, we can't.
It is time for us to draft our own legislation and make sure that the King and his Court abide by its rules. Remember, they work for us. It is apparent that the fact they they are here to serve us has clearly been forgotten. Once they achieved power, it became all about them and "we" Court that they are one of us and the only way to do that is to make sure they abide by and are subjected to the same laws as all of us.
This simple idea will make all the difference in the world. I firmly believe that legislation supposedly enacted for our benefit will suddenly be more thoughtfully constructed. Why? Because the laws will apply to everyone. No longer will the castle elite be above it all. It's time to bring them back to earth.
Having said that I propose the the Court have term limits. No longer will Princess Pouty Pelosi think of her job as a lifetime appointment. She and the rest of the Court will serve their term and return to their lives. Fresh faces and fresh ideas will come to the castle and breathe a new vitality into the Kingdom.
Next I propose that the Court be required to participate in Social Security. This should take place immediately, no ifs, ands or buts!
I always would like to see an end to a life time pension for a minimum of service. Nonsense, I say.
I further propose that the Court be forbidden to vote themselves a pay raise. Hikes in their pay should be tied to the real world and kept to a reasonable and prescribed percentage.
The Court must be subject to the same health care "reform" that, we, the people, have to deal with. No longer can they make decisions for us that don't affect them. Those days are over, I say. Furthermore, gone is the perk of serving one term and receiving health care for life. You are in the "real world" now, not the rarefied air of the castle.
There are many more proposals that have to be worked out. Please take the time to formulate some more so that we can work up our document of "change" and bring it to the Castle. Let the wise words of our mentor, Thomas Jefferson, guide us at all times. "My reading of history convinces me that most bad governments results from too much government"...POP...

BP, I am with you on this. We need real change in Washington and those camping in the Land of Canaan who have not done one thing that is good for the average citizen but enjoy living a lavish lifestyle and imposing laws of the common man they would never consider for themselves but enjoy benefits and perks we normal citizens are not privy. It is a double standard and I think this should be changed.
Poppy...you are such a strong voice for courage and conviction at a time when the kingdom is truly in peril. You are so correct. This is not the time for us peasants to be huddling in fear in our modest abodes while the pompous royalty swagger about the kingdom uttering their dogma and decrees. We must unite before the soup lines are formed, before we are robbed of our self-esteem and respect for our great nation. So true are the words 'the pen is mightier than the sword'. Go to the polls, good people. Cast your vote with your mighty pen and strike fear in the hearts of the evil tyrants of disasterous change. Take back the kingdom!

Pop! Aye!, Pino is right, in one page and language all can understand, the golden rule, they receive what they serve, but that would be justice for all and we can't have that, now can we? If I were to get 1 year of their salary I could live the next 20 in luxury, or at least my style of luxury, a new pair of glasses and maybe a digital camera and digital video camera, I can't think of much else, maybe a bunker and pen for the dogs that I pick up on dumpadog road here in the desert, to keep them cool on hot days while finding them a home.

Pop, Tom's test is kinda fun I got 6 of seven and think it was 7 I missed. It didn't tell. I'm doing the long test now, I'll tell you at the bar how bad I may have failed it, I figure any thing less than 95% is a fail, but that's just my thoughts. Morning POP. They are trying to pass the Merit pay for teachers, well, there should be a merit pay for those in congress as well as term limits. I believe that Pelosi has Alzheimer and the old farts get comfortable in their position and forget who they are actually working for. I have another silly improbable suggestion, since these idiots are elected by idiots, some type of intelligence testing should be required for the voters. Ballots should only be available in English, there should not be any reference to any party affiliation on the ballots, there should not be any straight votes! As long as idiots can be bribed for their vote nothing will change, it all begins and ends at the voting booth!!

As much as Democrats and the mainstream media are playing dumb, they know the Tea Parties began on tax day and are about the fed. government demanding more and more. The breaking news of Stupaks retirement comes as no suprise to me and confirms to me that the Obamacare script was probably written and finalized in late February, before the meeting with repubs, remember the princess that on about the 20th of Feb said the would go over the wall if it was too high they'd parachute in? She was referring subconsioucly to the pending resignations of Dems, and planned retierments with Golden Chutes provided by the Dem Nat Committee and the Admin to those who needed it.
All that followed was pure theater.

You know Pop - when I communicate with liberals - it is stunning how they believe this bill is good for America. Others should pay the medical bills of complete strangers. It simply makes no sense and has never made any fiscal or economic sense. All in the guise of being a "do gooder."
There were are are plenty of ways to help fix our health care problems - starting with Tort Reform and opening insurance nationally - but those Republican ideas were kept out of the bill among others.
I'm not giving up hope though. They all be voted out in 2010 and 2012 if you keep writing your fantastic Hubs and we all keep up the momentum to take back our country by voting them ALL out of office!

Here's the funny and really ironic part about all of this. The health care bill has a huge mistake in it that that Congress didn't catch. Apparently, Congress will have to buy insurance in the exchanges. Of course, there is no deadline for this so, in effect it probably will never happen. But that's what happens when you don't read the bill!

I like your idea of pay for performance it would reintroduce the proper incentive motives back into the government. I propose all government employees only receive minimum wage. The only way they could exceed this level would be to run a surplus on the budget. This incentive plan would re-introduce proper American values back into our society!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
