Spicy French Toast and Your Children
52Listen to Me, Mom!
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, December 26, 2011. You have celebrated Christmas and you are probably basking in the joy of having your college age kids back home. If you found them to be a bit chatty about politics this visit, there is a reason. Let's prepare our morning meal and I will be happy to tell you what is going on.
This morning we will be enjoying some Spicy French Toast. For 8 servings you will need 8 egg whites, slightly beaten, 2 cups canned pumpkin pie mix, 1/4 cup fat-free milk, 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 16 slices white bread. Blend together egg whites, pumpkin pie mix, milk and cornstarch. Dip bread slices in mixture and coat a skillet with cooking spray. Add bread slices and cook over medium heat on each side until golden brown. That's it. A delicious Irish Coffee would compliment this dish beautifully. Sit back and relax. I feel a letter coming on.
Dear Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa,
The kids are home for the holidays and what a joy it is. By now you surely have noticed that your children and grandchildren seem a bit anxious to discuss politics with you. The reason this is occurring is really more than a bit unnerving. In all probability they have been exposed to an Obama campaign ad that teaches your kids how to engage you in conversation about President Obama. They have been instructed to share with you all the wonderful reasons they are working so hard to see that he gets another 4 years. The assumption is that you are all Conservatives who need to be re-educated. They have been encouraged via this ad, which appropriately enough is called "Home for the Holidays", to share the president's speeches with the family, on Facebook and via e-mail.
There is nothing new about the exploitation and brainwashing of children. Dictatorships have been doing it for a very long time and now it seems we are doing it here. Remember the Hitler Youth? Pitting children against their own families was their goal. When our kids return from expensive colleges that we pay for and try to tell us how wrong we are politically speaking, it is a guaranteed way to ruin the holidays. All I can say is if you saw Grandma pitch the turkey across the room, now you know why...POP...

Pop,
I talked to my children as my father had talked to me about their journey into independance. They were always encouraged to state their opinions as such and were cautioned about "preaching any garbage to dear old dad as it would be harmful to their forthcoming financial support.
Once educated and out on their own for a few years, then they can feel free to re-educate me as needed. It seemed to work. They have both been on their own for over a decade and look forward to preserving the practice with my grandkids.
POP: Very clever of the Obama Administration! Using Hitler's methods to brainwash our children is despicable! College age children are usually liberal, know more than their parents, and will be proud to share their new-found knowledge when at home. As my husband used to say - "Brilliant"!
When all the protestors were shouting that they should have free healthcare, college, and anything else they could think of, I was wondering how they would feel in five years, when they finally woke up to the fact that they have to work for a living. I love our country and the opportunities it gives us. I hate that Obama is trying to slowly taking it away from us. If he gets another four years, he will certainly pick up the pace to bring America down.
I need to get to the bar to calm down. I will buy today. Save me a seat.....
There is a solution to not have to listen to the liberal left garbage your kids say to you when they are home from college. after they say what they want you tell them they are entitled to their opinion. Then you tell them I am entitled to spend my money how I want to spend it. And I do not want to spend it at the school you go to, so go borrow yout tuition. That should help the situation. Let's head to the bar for some Irish coffee. It's on sale today. BARTENDER...........
Pop - I experienced a similar thing Christmas morning with one of my adult daughters. She is far past school age, and works in the Bar & Restaurant industry. She spent considerable time telling me how important it was to get Obama another four years in the White House. I listened patiently, which is not like me at all, and finally asked her which one of his accomplishments during his first term was driving this passion to get him reelected. After some thought, she responded "He gives you more free stuff than the guys who want to take over."
So it is not just schools, it is also industries primarily populated with the younger generation.
More free stuff, great platform to run on.
Years ago, bp, I heard someone say, 'Anyone could be elected president.' I didn't believe it then. I do NOW!
Pop, I only like the politics inside this wire, I'm the only human that at this time should be breathing in hear, so I be at the bar running up the tab, 50
Good morning breakfastpop. Great hub as usual, keep up the good work!
Morning POP...I can think of no more exquisite torture than to be forced to listen to Obama speeches...Nowhere can be found a single original thought, idea, or suggestion...just fluffy BS...
I feel for oldpoolman...What do these kids want for a president..? Santa Claus..? Do they all think he has some private stash to give them all those " goodies "..?
See you at the tavern, Pop...I heard 50 has a private stash and is buying all the drinks...Larry
Pop, I love the recipe! Think what you will about the propaganda of the times. In WWII it took place at the movie theaters, in the 80's it took place with subsidies given to the movie makers to incorporate certain ideals and behaviors but no one called it brain washing. Today it is just a bit more in your face and less hidden via email and Facebook. I'm off to fip my toast.
What a unique recipe and we're going to try it. We had 14 for dinner yesterday and each one wants Obama gone. It was glorious!
I have talked to some people that still like Obama and typically they don't even know what is going on in the world, don't watch the news, etc. Ignorance may get him re-elected.
Perhaps you had the occassion to see that little encounter that Bachman had with that little kid who wished to say (or that was cajoled into saying) that his mommy was a lesbo and didn't need any fixing? Terrible thing that is. In my opinion it has no place. I've had the same thoughts about politics as I've had about religion over the years. Force your kids into no beliefs. Give them the tools and the wisdom to learn, and believe in what they want to. Ads should have the same goal in mind. Raising your kids should be to raise them to be independent thinkers able and willing to take in all of the information that's out there, use the powers of reason and deduction, and decide for themselves how things should be. The right information should be easy enough to find if one has been given the right tools...
So in the end there should be nothing to worry about.
Those college kids aren't going to be too happy with BO when they graduate and start looking for a job. Two of my daughters and two of my sons-in-law vote conservative. The other pair voted for BO, but now they're looking for a Republican to support. The economy has hit their business hard.
Voted up!
Great writing as usual Pop!
Unfortunately our young people today are not taught to reason and think for themselves in college. They hear the "party line". They are effectively being brainwashed. They are also being brainwashed by the high schools that they *must* go to college. Hell, the parents are brainwashed into thinking this too!
A friend of mine spent many many thousands of dollars and gave up many many things so that she could put her young daughter through college. The girl made it through and got her degree...in "International Business". Okay, well great, right? The girl was (for over two years) working part time at a Starbucks and was a bank teller part time. She couldn't find any work in her *field*. She recently obtained a job as a clerk at a rental car company...making about $25,000 a year.
All I can say is wow. Just wow. And...well duhhhhh.

Sounds like a delicious recipe I can't wait to try. Sadly this stuff starts from Kindergarten/preschool. I've always had open chats with my kidlets, and so far so good.
