Surprise French Toast On Manic Monday

Bad Behavior

Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Manic Monday, February 15, 2010. Today's recipe is Surprise French Toast. If you want to follow along you will need 6 slices of French bread, 1/4 cup ricotta cheese, 1/4 cup whipped cottage cheese, 2 tablespoons low fat cream cheese, 2 teaspoons white sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 3 cups egg substitute and 1/4 cup evaporated milk. Cut a pocket in each slice of bread. In a large bowl combine the ricotta, cottage cheese and cream cheese. Add the sugar and vanilla extract and beat until smooth. Spread the mixture evenly into each pocket. Beat together the egg substitutes and milk. Dip the bread slices in the egg mixture. Heat a nonstick skillet over med-high heat. Coat with cooking spray and cook the toast on each side for about 4 minutes per side until golden brown. Brew up a pot of coffee or tea and sit back and enjoy. The surprise inside this toast is a lot more palatable than what Congress may have in store for us.

Wendell Primus, a senior health care advisor to Nancy Pelosi revealed that Congressional democractic leaders have settled on a strategy that they feel will allow them to make changes in both the House and Senate health care bills. A single revised bill will then be presented to President Obama for his signature. Mr. Primus admitted that top democrats had already decided on this strategy before the decision to hold a bi-partisan health care summit was announced.

We can only conclude that despite some movement towards a fresh start and a more open process, the Democrats are up to their old ways of doing business and the public be damned. The Democrats want to prevent the Republicans from filibustering and they appear to be confident that they can accomplish exactly that. The call for a summit can only be construed as a combined effort on the part of Democrats and the White House to divert attention away from what is really happening in Congress.

If a health care bill is passed in this manner, every single American, regardless of party affiliation, should be outraged and very, very worried. If the Democrats succeed with this plan they can then feel free to use this same strategy to pass other controversial legislation like cap and trade.

So much for transparency, so much for honesty, so much for Congress being accountable to us. The true meaning of a Democratic Republic is being trounced upon and our President is part and parcel of the entire ugly affair...POP...

Dear breakfastpoppers,

A fellow hubber, Sheri Sapp, is having quite a hard time writing. She writes a hub, but no one is ever notified that she published. She has written to hubpages several times and they insist that the problem has been solved. She wrote to me via hubpages to tell me that she is about to give up writing. I, for one, would not like to see that happen. If anyone has any suggestions for her, please let her know. We have to look out for one another...

Pop,

I have also heard of this nafarious plot to elude the will of the American people. I think it's time we think of a general strike. Boycott all government activities. Bring the whole thing to an immediate stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have to think out of the box. This is the final affront!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning Tom,

I am completely incredulous. Every single one of these idiots mush have a death wish, death to their political career, that is. Maybe we should withhold our tax money. See you at the bar. I have had it with Washington.

taxlarry 2 years ago

This is nothing more than business as usual for the demorats in Congress and in The White House. They are the party of tax, spend, spend, spend some more and they are the party of deceit. Deceit about health care, deceit about global warming, deceit about everything. This may have always been the case, but the only transparency we've gotten is that all of the deceit is out there. I don't know what kind of boycott of government activities there can be, but we can sure speak lound and clear in November.

Well, it's cold out, but it's warm at the bar. BARTENDER.......

Dear Tom,

Of course I meant to say that they "must" have a death wish. Maybe I was thinking that they have "mush" for brains.

I've heard Obama has promised jobs to politicians who lose elections this year. That's why they're willing to do this. Is it true that if this bill is passed, it cannot be repealed? That's our only hope.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop Hub Author 2 years ago

Good morning taxlarry,

So true, the party of tax and spend, now amended to the party of tax, spend and deceit. Now that's a slogan that makes sense. I'll meet you later at the bar and we can discuss strategy and eat some appetizers!

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop Hub Author 2 years ago

Good morning sheila,

This is the party that makes secret deals to buy votes so nothing they do will surprise me. Once this bill is passed, we are stuck with it. I wonder how different things would be if Congress had to have the same health care as the rest of us. Meet us later at the bar and we'll put our heads together to come up with a "strategy" of our own. I'm buying!

Pop, So much for a Monday with a smile! Isn't it amazing what is going on? The only transparency to the Democrat fools is that we can see clearly that they are a group of liars and cheats. Nope they are good with loosing their jobs as they will get all the money and a much better health plan than any citizen, and illegal for that matter. They then can go home and watch cartoons and drink beer at a salary that is despicable. Any military Vet missing their legs or things as serious, should get top billing in Medical care as well as pay, but no, they'll be left fighting the system to just get by.

Lets meet at the bar and have a few laughs and drinks while public assembly of 2 or more is still legal!

Good morning 50 caliber,

So brief a comment! Hope you are ok.

Pino 2 years ago

POP: While our President appears to be becoming transparent, and bipartisan, don't be fooled. It's still his way or no way! I for one will be watching CSPAN on the 25th. I see more and more Dems speaking out against the administration. Obama's WH is losing some ground. Hope it continues.

I agree with Tom. On April 15th, the Tea Party will have another rally. It would be great if we all attended. I believe that this will show the administration that we are sick of them. More and more people are attending these rallys. Soon the media will have to acknowledge their existence.

I'm off to the bar - save me a seat.

Wow; a devious deceitful plot by the Democrats revealed; who would have thunk it? If the Republicans are foolish enough to walk into Obama’s Health Care Summit after this then they truly deserve what they get. Come into my Parlor said the spider to the fly!

Have you heard where they found Wendell Primus’ body? I guess they haven’t had time to drag the Potomac or check our any freshly poured concrete around the various construction sites around D.C. This news should not surprise anyone; Congressional Democratic leaders settling on a strategy that will allow them to make changes in both the House and Senate health care bills in order to ram them through! Deceitful Democrats, what’s the world coming to; first we found out Bill Clinton really did cheat on his wife and that Hussein Obama really did sit through all those Reverend Wright Sermons and that Bill Ayres really did blow up that police station and that Barney Fwank (still hunting Wabbits) really is gay and that Bozo Biden really did escape from Ringling Brothers and now finally, you can’t trust Reid and Pelosi to do the right thing!

Beware Republicans; this bunch is setting you up. Come into my parlor and I’ll paint you as obstructionist; then following my full blown campaign launched through the main stream media I will appear at the end of the rope with no alternative left but to follow the path outlined above. Now who could possibly blame this poor president who is merely trying desperately to deliver healthcare to the American People; in spite of the fact THEY DON’T WANT IT

Pop, my old friend, you nailed it! The Democrats are up to their old ways of doing business and the public be damned. This is their only way around the Republican filibuster! The left has demanded healthcare and Pelosi, Reid and Hussein Obama must deliver it! There’s not enough tea throughout this country to stop this and frankly they don’t care what the Tea Party thinks. That’s why I have railed against their (the Tea Party) bi-partisan position. This is what you get every time with Democrats. To hell what Landrieu or Ben Nelson or Evan Bye or any so called moderate democrat (oxymoron) says; THIS IS WHO THEY ARE!

So Republicans; if you attend this sham meeting in order to give Hussein Obama cover then SHAME ON YOU; IN DOING SO YOU HAVE PROVEN TO BE TOO STUPID TO LEAD!

POP - like much of the rest of this foolishness the light of day I think will kill it. I don't think a majority of the dumb dems are willing to fall on their swords to get this done. Especially when the pet stuff will all have to be cut to make it work.

I'm with 50 cal on the rest though be at the inn soon but can't stay long have a mission tonight!!

BPOP, You hit the nail on the head again. I don't thing the Republicans will walk into this trap blindfolded, but they haven't exactly been acting like beacons of hope either. By televising this exchange Obama thinks Americans will be outraged because the Republican will stand firm on a few thing, like wanting tort reform, like not paying for abortions, like not having the big government bureaucracy run the health care show. We do need a long planning session at the bar this evening but I'm going to look for Sheri now.

POP, I'm doing fine and have plans to be outside with my 2 Rotty's playing Frisbee and having fun it's gonna be 75* today and all week says the news man. It is the best of the year. I'm still looking for a replacement for the old Dolly dog that just passed, so I can train another tracking dog, I need to keep a "three dog night" going. I guess the rest of you guys and gals are in the snow and ice. Arizona is a great place to be this time of year! If all of you get a subscription to "Arizona Highways" magazine they will send a magazine full of pictures that will make you want to move! It's getting toward the time of year the "snowbirds" go home and we all like that! All the rich 70 year old drivers are off the streets, but I suppose they are good for the economy.

Dear Pino,

It looks like the production on C-span is a dog and pony show, but we'll see. Let's hope you are right and that some of the Dems wake up from their prolonged stupor. I'll save you a seat. See you later.

Dear patriot,

You are amazing. Your take on this really adds a great deal to the discussion, because the whole thing is a sham and it's about time those idiots who represent us tell it like it is. Since that will never happen, let's meet at the bar and plan our own strategy. I've had it! I would love to see you mail this to Washington, Patriot.

Dear Pamela,

I hope the Republicans get control of the bogus summit and don't come out looking like the fools the Dems think they are. Only time will tell. See you later at the bar. We have a great deal to discuss. Thanks for looking for Sheri, I think she has had it and I don't want that to happen. Breakfastpoppers to the rescue!

Dear 50 caliber,

The reason I made that comment about your comment being brief is because only a few words published, as though you just stopped in mid stream. Now I see the full comment and you must think I'm nuts! It is an outrage that our wounded soldiers are treated as they are while these jerks in the Capitol get every perk in the book, health care for life and a pension that is not to be believed. All I can say is we owe all these brave men and women everything and our government had better get on the stick and do the right thing. I'll see you later. I need to calm down!

Morning POP, the sun finally broke through today, it's going to be a beautiful day here in florida, I say we all hold hands and sing "We are the world" or "Kumbaya" and celebrate with a pig roast in honor of the government porkulous. Every bill the Dems want to push down our throath is filled with so much pork, bribes etc. Government is getting fat while us peasants are struggling to survive. Happy president's day.

The dems simply won't get it, and I don't get why other than they are on a power struggle. Interestingly I read the other day that 32 House members are not seeking reelection, 14 of whom are democrats. This seems a bit unusually high, and it's early on yet. In some ways I'm wondering if it's cut and run?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Certain ways we do health care havwe become outmoded and could use change, such as being ableto transfer insurance from employer to employer, to fix the scandoulous malepractice lawsuits. but the system,if you can call it a system, is sound, why chnage it?

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop Hub Author 2 years ago

Dear dahoglund,

Where is the application of common sense to this volatile issue? Yes, our system needs improving just as you suggested, but it is still the best in the world and the last thing we need is a government takeover of our health care.
