59Who Decides?
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Wednesday, May 26, 2010. The health care battle was tiring and frustrating but in the end ObamaCare won. We have been assured that we will get to keep our insurance and that we will be the master of our own fate. But will we?
Let's fortify ourselves with a nourishing Tropical Fruit Compote and then let's take a look at the truth that lurks beneath the lie. The following recipe serves four people one time or one person four times. You will need 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind, 3 oranges (separated into sections), 1 mango (chopped into cubes), 1 papaya (chopped into cubes) and 2 medium red grapefruits (separated into sections). Over high heat bring water to a boil. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Turn off the heat and add the rinds. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature. Strain mixture. In a large bowl mix together all the fruit pieces. Drizzle the sugar syrup over the fruit and toss. Enjoy!
Let me introduce Dr. Donald Berwick who President Obama has nominated to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Mr. Berwick published an article in July of 2008 in the British Medical Journal comparing Britain's health care system to ours. Needless to say Mr. Berwick was and still is a big fan of Britain's system. He advised Britain not to put its faith in market forces. He went on to say that he finds little evidence that market forces that rely on consumers choosing among an array of products leads to a healthcare system you want and need. In plain language he believes that health decsions made by leaders are superior to choices individuals make for themselves.
His views pose a very upsetting and disturbing picture of the future of health care in this country. When opponents of Obamacare stated that care for seniors would be rationed, we were told that that was simply not true. We were assured that Republicans were just trying to scare us. In truth, Dr. Berwick is a staunch supporter of rationing and rationing of care is what we are going to get. In a 2009 interview with Biotecnology Healthcare, Dr. Berwick said the United States needed to face the inevitability of rationing with open eyes.
So there you have it. Many of us believed that rationing would come to our nation despite assurances to the contrary. We were lied to and now we will have to live with the consequences. Dr. Berwick and the Obama administration believe they can do a better job managing our health care than we can. Big Brother is alive and well and coming to a doctor's office near you. If we can judge people by the company they keep, President Obama's choice of Dr. Berwick leaves us with no doubt about the future of medicine in this country. Once again the powers that be are trying to emulate the European way of doing things. Apparently, they haven't noticed that it's not working out too well over there. They might not be paying attention but a significant and growing percentage of the American people have noticed and hopefully we will join forces and stop this march towards socialism before it's too late...POP...
I couldn't agree more. This administration is rushing to "change" everything so that the damage will be accomplished win or lose.
again, no surprise to any of us here. This fool is getting desperate to impose as much of his will on us as he can before November when his power will be greatly diminished.

On the rush toward socialism in this country, just another notch in the gun. The socialst (communist) in the White House has made another wonderful appointment. I cannot think of one appointment he has made that is not way to the left, or socialsit, or marxist or communist (think van jones on the latter). Not only are his appointmnets way out in left field, many are incompetent (think eric holder, janet "from another planet" napolitano). Somehow the socialist muslim has has to be stopped, and it has to start this November. It still shocks me that Obumma got elected president, that scheming, deceitful people like reid and pelosi and dodd have used their socialist, democrap ideology to screw up the country. I am thirsty. oh lord. i shudder to think what life in the U.S. will be like for millions of Americans who have been working all their lives and carrying others on their back for so many years who will need proper health care. their world is turning upside-down and the ones making all these changes are saying 'meh'.

It's all too much. What I find incredible is the ability of many people to defend Obama, his appointments, his friends and his decisions. It must be very hard for people like this to live in a free country when control and socialism is what they crave. They just might see their wish come true. I'll meet you later and I'm buying.

BPop you are preaching to the chior in my case. I just don.t know what it is gonna take for those still supporting this administration to wake up and see what's going on. To me it feels like America is doing a death march right now. And I cannot help but think many on the left are ccelebrating that fact.
POP: We were lied to, but it didn't matter. We are lied to every day that our president speaks. You can include his administration, and throw in Congress. Congress didn't represent us on the healthcare bill. they did what they wanted to do. Now they'll pay for it.
We need to to two things before the end of the year. 1. Take back Congress and, 2, repeal the healthcare bill, or at the very least, defund it. then we can send Dr. Berwick home - where he belongs.

Pop, I've been looking for a hint or a clue as to who? will the repub's possibly place on the ticket for 2012 that will fool the easily fooled into changing horses? I see congress falling to the repub's in the fall, then I see barry crying on the air waves for 2 years, running a 2 year campaign saying the reason everything has soured is the repub's have tied my hands, he may loose congress but I fear he will still own the media and garner strength in failure, as he so successfully blamed Bush so far. There is no question that there were people both in Washington and elsewhere who were just waiting for someone like Obama to appear. I always am amazed by this fact because it is impossible to imagine that they wold prefer living in a socialist nation, having tasted freedom all these years. I also think that there is a high percentage of people out there who are so engrossed in their daily life that they are completely unaware of the danger we are in.

Unless they make a law against it, doctors can still take private patients. How that works is when your health care insurance won't pay, you pay out-of-pocket. They wanted this bill for one reason and one reason only - the money it will bring in. Of course they'll be very reluctant to pay any of it out.
Morning POP, rationing has already started, my mother who was to recieve a pair of glasses covered by medicare has yet to find a place that accepts it. She has been to 4 places including JC penneys and was rejected. There is also info she has recieved that anyone over 65 with heart problems will have to be evaluated prior to receiving any kind of surgery. Nice going Nobama!

This bill will hurt seniors in particular and everyone else in the end. Doctors will probably cut back on the number of Medicare patients they wish to see and important decisions about treatment will be taken out of our hands.

Donald Berwick; the head or Medicare and Medicaid Services; little known fact, he was actually Obama’s 5th choice. Karl Marx was already dead of course as was Chairman Mao. The brought Obama down to Hugo Chavez who refused in order to continue running his own dictatorship. Obama then thought about offering it to Castro but thought he was just a little too old! Convinced Mr. Berwick was the right choice after reading his article in the British Medical Journal trashing countries that put their faith in market forces Obama offered him the job. He of course had to take the oath of Allegiance to Obama not America pledging to Defend and Prevaricate when necessary any and all policies which fly directly in the face of the United States Constitution!
The Main Stream Media did a wonderful job aiding and abetting Obama and his cronies shroud the truth associated with the future of health care in this country. When opponents of Obamacare stated that care for seniors would be rationed, Chris Mathews, Joy F-ing Behar and the entire entourage which constitutes the supposed news departments of ABC,CBS NBC,MSMBY and of course today’s version of Laugh In CNN would rush in and began demonizing the individual Republican who attempted to espouse the truth. This crowd believes they can do a better job managing our lives in general; health care or any other aspect of it than we can. Such is the way with Elitist; they have all the answers and we are mere bumpkins trying to get through the day without bumping into things while concentrating on breathing! They start of course with managing our money which in their eyes is actually their money; we earned it in the country they rule and as such it is theirs to keep. We have returned to the Feudal System wherein if you killed a deer it belonged to the King because the King owned all the land and thus you shot and killed a deer on the King’s property. See how simple their world is!

Most people are more concerned with the latest Apple gadget, the newest cell phone, and what team will make it into the Super Bowl than things that truly will impact their lives such as health care and the people who made it happen.

It seems to be a skill honed early and used often, here is a guy who promotes rationing and I believe if President Zero were asked about it he would say "no, he isn't for rationing of health care, that's a conservative lie created by Sara Palin and George W Bush!" And most people would ignore the evidence and say, "Damn Bush and Palin"

You are exactly right. I am sure things would play out just as you have written because that's been the name of the game so far. I just can't believe that no one can nail this liar to the wall. Of course, he doesn't give news conferences or take questions after a speech from people who might be tough on him. Somehow he has successfully insulated himself and it is beyond outrageous.
I'm hoping against hope that somehow, our king, digs himself a hole (no pun intended) re this oil spill, and convinces some of our deaf and dumb citizens that he is a fraud.

Unfortunately, the politicians have figured out that the public is very easy to deceive. Most people are content to take things at face value and too busy with their own lives to worry about Washington. Of course, things are "changing" in that area and more and more people are waking up. Yes, I do believe you get to choose who will receive the surgery you have been denied. You have to throw a dart at a board and whoever it lands on gets the surgery whether they need it or not.
If health care wasn't bad enough, the Economy is on the verge of collapse. If you look at the "growth of the economy" chart we are on the same track as the great depression era, yet Obama and the congress continue to spend like drunken sailors.
