Vanilla Puff Pancakes and More of the Same
60Not Again!
Good morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, February 13, 2012. President Obama will be presenting his budget today. It promises to be more of the same, tired, unsuccessful old thing. Let's prepare some Vanilla Puff Pancakes for breakfast. Irish Coffees would make a nice addition to the meal.
You will need 1 cup of milk, 4 large eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 vanilla bean, 1 cup all-purpose flour and 1/4 cup softened butter.
Prepare a 10 x 10 baking dish by coating the bottom and sides with the softened butter.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs and gradually mix in the milk, sugar and vanilla extract.. Slit the vanilla bean with a knife and scrape the seeds inside into the mixture. Add the flour and mix well.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Add any topping you like and enjoy. This amount serves two, so invite someone over. Make sure they are not a fan of the president because breakfast could get ugly. Okay sit back and enjoy the pancake. I feel a letter coming on.
Dear Mr. President,
You are about to release your budget and from what has all ready been revealed it promises to be re-run of your other budgets. It won't be balanced. It won't spend less. It won't borrow less and it won't make anything better. In fact, sir, it promises to make things much worse. Of course, it won't pass either, but as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told the nation, we don't really need a budget. Budgets can be so annoying and restraining. When spending with wild abandon is your goal, who needs a budget to remind you that you are acting irresponsibly.
Why is it that you always do the complete opposite of what common sense would dictate? We need to cut spending, you propose to increase it. At a time when people are on shaky ground about their future you are proposing tax increases on the wealthy and we are not talking about only millionaires and billionaires. You never seem to tell that to the American people and we don't appreciate being lied to or manipulated. You are planning on letting the Bush era tax structure expire, thus raising taxes on small business and the American family earning $250,000 a year or more. Clearly, you are not concerned with growing the economy. You will break the back of small business and insure that they won't be hiring or expanding. Your budget also calls for closing some "loopholes" for corporations which will only serve to make them reluctant to hire new people, as well. Your continued refusal to offer entitlement reform just tells the American people that this budget is just another political speech to try and get you re-elected. I imagine that the Occupy Wall Street crowd will love the speech. It punishes the evil, successful rich people and the evil small business and the evil corporations. It also punishes the military which is criminal in light of the dangerous world we now live in.
When all is said and done, your "budget" is a waste of time. You would be better off playing a round of golf. Harry Reid hasn't passed a budget in three years and he isn't gong to pass one now. The American people have given up hoping that we might apply common sense principles to our fiscal problems. One way or another, you will try to implement your plans. You have shown that you don't need Congress for that, which means that you don't need us. By your own admission you are prepared to "go it alone". Please take a moment to read the Constitution. It was written to prevent any president from doing just that.
I suppose it is too late to ask you to reconsider your plans for this country. I wanted my children and grandchildren to grow up in the America I did. I wanted them to know about individual responsibility and liberty. I wanted them to have the chance to prosper. For the first time in my life, I fear for them...POP...
Respectfully yours,
POP

Pop,
You've said it all so kudos and DITTO!!!
I saw the new Chief of Staff on with Chris Wallace yesterday and he's just like Obama which is to say an arrogant ass!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great letter and as Pino pointed out he's above listening to what the American people want. He has a mission and sadly its the polar opposite of what's good for America. UP and see ya at the bar.....
I believe that our Gov. Christie in New Jersey was able to Balance his Budget as did Romney when he was Gov. of Ma...so we know it can be done. What we have now in Washington is Incompetence...and it's SCARY and NOT the norm. If this President is re-elected he will destroy our Country as we know it. But that will NOT happen...People are Smarter than this administration gives them credit, and will Elect a Republican President in 2012.
Good to be able to stop by Breakfastpops and take some "Time Out"...I've Missed coming to your Hub Pages to Read and Comment.
BPOP - His proposal will just add a mere $1.3 trillion to the national debt. Small potatoes for a Chicago Community Organizer.

Great pancakes. But you don't beed a recipe. Just play it by ear, like tge Great Oblama-in-Chief.
Little Sister With Giant Brain and Strong Heart,
You just score a perfect 10 on this one. I want to point out something that doesn’t seem to be brought out by the pundits.
Obama speaks, and the words come out as sweet as honey.” It just makes sense, that millionaires and billionaires who are fortunate enough to have more, should pay their fair share.”
Two things here, and perhaps I should make a hub on this;
First … This statement implies that some people were blessed with a money tree in their backyard, while others were not. Wealthy people work hard to acquire wealth, and even harder to hang on to it. I found that people without wealth have a tendency to think that the wealthy people inherited their wealth. About half did inherit wealth, while the other half built it. Here’s the thing. When you’re in the money business. It’s a business that never becomes stagnant. If you are not making money, you are losing money. Therefore, maintaining wealth means increasing wealth, and this makes the money business very, very tough.
Second … the president uses the word fair. The word fair is arbitrary. As we all know, the top 10% of wage earners pay 70% of the taxes, while 50% of Americans pay no taxes. The president has promoted himself right up there with God, and made himself the chief arbitrator. He has decided that someone who has paid 70% of the bill has not paid their fair share, because the percentage is smaller than 40% of the people making less. Let’s not forget, once again, that most people pay nothing.
Never mind, this is turning into a hub anyway. You get the point. If I decide to write a hub on this, I’ll damn sure give you a shout out sis, because you inspired it.
Jim
Morning POP...Your recipe is a perfect match for this Obama-inspired " budget "...Pure vanilla cream puffs...
Budget? What budget? I don't see any budget. Harry Reid himself said they would not pass any budget...again. What you see here is Obama's wish list and spending plan. Obama doesn't believe in budgets either. They're too messy with all that nasty debating and stuff and just get in the way of remaking the nation. I also believe the GOP will once more wring their hands, gnash their teeth, make with tough talk, do nothing, and allow another travesty to unfold.
See you at the tavern, Pop...taxlarry's faux elk jerky should go well with this faux president and his faux " budget/re-election speech...Larry
Obama promised to 'fundamentally transform America'. That's what this is all about. He is applying Cloward–Piven.
The word, budget, bp, is anathema to Obummy. All he is interested in is devoting his time and effort to his ambition to be re-elected. The Repubs and intelligent voters need to stop sitting on their hands.
Cool hub Pop! I enjoyed reading the letter, the recipe was great too. What do you like to add on top of your pancakes? I normally just do the usual, butter and syrup. I would love to try out something new any suggestions? Thanks for sharing this with us! Keep up the great work. Voted up and awesome :)
Awesome thanks for tip!:)

POP: Great letter; however, it will fall on deaf ears. Obama just keeps sayig the same things over and over - I believe he just wants Congress to finally give up and say OK, we will do anything you want. Obama is unable to compromise, and he just doesn't want to. He is like a spoiled child.
I'm off to the bar. Save me a seat.....
