A Vinegar Omelette and a Question

Perfect Storm

Good morning breakfastpopers. Today is Monday, October 25, 2010. A fellow breakfastpopper, pcoach, asked me a question on one of my hubs. He wanted to know if I felt that something strange was going on in our country because Democrats seemed to be shooting themselves in the foot and no one seems particularly interested in playing by the "rules" anymore. I'd like to try and answer the question, but first let's prepare a Balsamic Vinegar Omelette to help fine tune our senses and help us navigate these turbulent times.

You will need 1 large onion, 4 eggs, 4 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, 3 teaspoons balsamic vinegar, 3 tablespoons olive oil and salt and pepper to taste. Heat olive oil in frying pan, slice onion very thin and brown in pan. Mix eggs with cheese, vinegar and salt and pepper and add to onions. Cook omelette on both sides and remove from pan. Allow to get cold and slice into small pieces. Serve as a breakfast hors d'oeuvre and top with a bit of balsamic vinegar. Mix up a batch of Bloody Marys and enjoy your breakfast cocktail party. I feel an answer coming on.

We are indeed living in very strange times, pcoach. I don't remember a time when so many of our elected officials have acted so brazenly and with so much contempt for the American people. Senators using foul language and treating their own constituents badly at town hall meetings has become quite commonplace. Why are our representatives unraveling at the seams? This is only one woman's opinion but I believe that Congress has grown very used to an electorate that was too involved in their own lives to care all that much about what was happening in Washington. Congress acted with impunity and no one was scrutinizing their every move. The advent of the Tea Party movement changed all that. Suddenly we, the people, were tuned in to Washington. We were reading legislation and asking questions. The more informed we became, the angrier Congress, and in particular, the Democrats became. The "people" were suddenly more informed than the legislators and tempers began to boil over.

Pcoach, the election of President Barack Hussein Obama was the catalyst for all of this "change". The country elected a man to the highest office in the nation based upon an electrifying speech and precious little more. The soon- to- be President had no experience and the public said, "who cares". The soon-to -be President had a strange and troubling assortment of friends and the public said "who cares." The soon-to-be President told us that he wanted to "change" our country and the public said "go for it." Now we are all paying the price for such a careless and thoughtless decision. Electing Barack Obama was a huge mistake. Electing Barack Obama was the collective act of a deliberately uninformed public who chose to ignore the warning signs and in doing so brought us to our knees.

All of this happened because, I suppose, the nation was ready for such a brazenly stupid act. The country was ripe for the pickings and Obama appeared on the horizon. We swept him into power and suddenly every secret ultra uber liberal felt vindicated. Every socialist leaning media figure felt validated and the "worm" began to turn. The main stream media revealed their true colors and began behaving like a wing of the White House. We, the people, were no longer getting the news. Instead we were and are getting what those in power want us to hear. We now have to seek out the truth and as we do so outlets like Fox News find their ratings soaring. Do we really have free speech in our country? I'm not so sure. Say the wrong thing in someone's eyes and poof your history. There has been and will continue to be an effort by some very powerful people to shut Fox News down. This is all very chilling and very telling. We are at war, a war that started with the election of Obama. With his encouragement we now have the foundation of the clash between the rich and the poor. Business is the enemy, fat cats are robbing us and everyone should have only one chicken in only one pot. Unless, of course, you are among the elite. I think of the former Soviet Union. Those in power lived rather well. The average citizen shared an apartment with a few families and had only one electrical outlet for all of them. Life wasn't good, but it was predictable.

Pcoach, we allowed ourselves to fall into a collective stupor and we woke up too late. Sadly, there are many, many people out there who really don't appreciate the wonderful things our country stands for. For me that is the true mystery. They remind me the prisoner who after serving 25 years behind bars, would rather remain there than try to figure things out for himself in the outside world. Many people in this country just want to be taken care of and there are many "saviors" out there ready and willing to do the job.

I hope November affords us the opportunity to derail this march towards disaster. If the Republicans regain the House and Senate, they had better come up with some answers to this mess. People like me are feeling mighty impatient...POP...

A note to my friends: I am taking a few days off starting tomorrow. I am having cataract surgery in the morning so the PIP-POPS will be too pooped to pop. I am hoping that I can return to breakfast on Thursday. In the meantime, stay on top of things. I am going to miss seeing your fabulous faces and hearing your brilliant comments at breakfast.

What Obumma turned out to be as president was, to me, very predictable. The socialists in congress that came out from under the cracks was not as predictable. But Obumma has done a good job...at pitting those who hae no drive for success and who wanted to be taken care of against those who love liberty and have a drive to succeed. The Russian revolution created one of the biggest socialist states that took almost the entire 20th century before it fell apart under its own wait. Today, look at the riots in Greece and France to see what socialism has done for their societies. It doesn't work but it must not be allowed to get a foothold in this country. I'm thirsty. POP- Some great insight, lets hope the buyers remorse continues until we as an electorate pay more attention to those whom we put the public's trust. Let's hope the tough questions continue even during better times.

Good luck on your surgery will have a special prayer for ya, and a toast to BPOP! Ladies and Gentleman Charge your glasses!! Hear Hear! To the Inn!

Dear taxlarry,

Apparently, the fools in Washington are incapable of learning from history and the present. Even Castro is fed up with Communism! I'll see you at the bar, but I have to leave early. By the way, what were the Russians "waiting" for?

POP: The last time our country was ready for "change" was when Carter was elected. Our interest rates sky-rocketed, and our country fell apart. I am hopeful that the Republicans take back the House and Senate, and then DO something about what we Americans are not happy about.

So far, I don't see anyone willing to step up to the plate for us.

Good luck tomorrow. I'll miss starting my day with your hub.

Let's sit together at the tavern - I'm on my way - save me a seat....

Pop,

The left has plainly demonstrated the disdain with which they regard free speech. BO continues to cry about election funding while he KNOWS he is spewing untruths!! Yesterday, Manchin, from my state of WV, was on Fox News Sunday, and I must say, I bet he is regretting that decision!! They used his own words on VIDEO to make him appear as a slimy politician who will take whatever position he must in order to win an election!!

Good luck with the surgery, we will be missing you for a few days!

Pop,

I wish you good luck with your surgery I just had my lab work done and I am somewhat worried!!!!!!!!!!

Now to the point on conservative common sense government it's like I said in my Hub comparing Obama and Reagan,"

I do find the main similarity to be that both are boons to conservative governance. Reagan boosted conservatism by his common sense solutions!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama boosts conservatism by negative example. His radical liberal policies have awakened a sleeping giant as shown by the Tea Party movement!!!!!!!!!!"

If you have time I'll meet you at the bar and I'm buying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pop, all reasons I voted against obummer. We were duly warned and folks were not listening and many just didn't care.Personally, I've been waiting for this scenario to play out since 1978 or so. Knew it would just not when or to what extent. If folks think voting republicans back into power will fix this mess, they need to think some more. I expect that the power will change and people will sigh and return to business as usual, thinking it will mend it's self with the right people in charge, It's not going to be that easy. Any who think it is, all I can say is "hide and watch", 50

Morning POP...

This is an excellent open letter to all Americans that demand transparency in government...To that end we need a free and unbiased press, enforced accountability, and a vigilant citizenry...Is this an impossible dream..? Pie in the sky idealism..? Probably, but it is necessary if we are to ever counter negative human nature...November would be a good time to start...

Your vision does not need surgery, it needs support and wide distribution...You see the political landscape clearly, and your words articulate what most Americans support...

Good luck on the cataract surgery...My wife had her's last year...The Doc gave her a tee shirt afterwards that had a hugh eye on the front and their business name on the back...I told her I was glad he was not a gynecologist...Cracked her up...

See you at the tavern, POP...Bloody Mary's always sit well with me, especially when shared with valued friends...Larry

Thanks Pop. I feel like I went to the bar and put in a request for a song. And boy, you sang it loud and clear. I know 50 says things won't change with Repubs in there Nov 2. I realize we have to keep their feet to the fire and our biggest fight will likely be in 2012. HOWEVER, I cannot trust a Dem now to save a single soul from the communist course we are on so I will scream from the hilltops to vote Republican or Tea Party or Independent BUT WHATEVER ANYONE DOES, don't split a race on the right so the Dem wins anyway. It's just foolishness. And review your candidates in your state and local govt's.

Thanks POP.

Who cares; the modern day replacement for Mad Magazine’s What me Worry. Well who cares is US, WE THE PEOPLE. We do care that Democrats unable to defend their deplorable legislation brazenly repudiate the very citizens that elected them; saying in a sense, sit down and shut up, I know what’s best!

It’s not very difficult to be more informed than the Congress we elected, we actually read the bills they were ramming down our throats!

We did indeed fall asleep at the switch and allow Barrack Hussein and his merry band of Socialist to waltz into the White House. And who were those Merry Socialists; William Ayres, Jeremiah Wright; Rham Emanuel the Plethora of Czars Hussein has appointed and all the while Chris Mathews and his fellow Lap Dogs continue to pee all over themselves every time the Messiah reads his daily message of deliverance from the old tele.

Yes tragic as it is; over the course of history the various Socialist Regimes ascended to power and only after their grip on power was secure did they seize the media and enact controls over it so it became a state controlled media; in the case with Hussein Obama’s rise to power the Watch Dog Media turned itself into a bunch of lap dogs and surrendered its objectivity without being forced or even asked to do so; they willingly became Obama team members.

So next time you open your 2010 copy of Mad Magazine with Barrack Hussein Obama on the cover instead of Alfred E. Newman think of the caption; not what me worry but Who Cares!

Sometimes we have to slog thru the manure before we can hit the showers. It may have taken the disaster that is Obamas presidency to kick people in the ass and wake them to what Washington D.C. is really up to motivate them to take action. Truthfully until the past year or so, I think apathy was emotion of choice in regards to politics. Let's hope the fire in the belly remains strong for the next several years, as we have just begun to clean house and Senate. We have to keep their heels to the fire and if they screw up, throw them in the fire! Give no quarter! That will be the only way any of them will take us seriously!

Good luck with the eye surgery! Hope things work out well!

As for your politics, of course you need a re-make. That goes without saying. I have been following politics for about 50 years, they ain't any worse than they were 20 years ago. The whole bunch of them have been out of touch with regular people for a long time, with special interests, in fighting and nastiness. You can't lay that on Obama.

Good work Pop and good luck with your procedure. As you know this piece mirrors my take almost exactly, and is what I've been trying to say in my hubs. The "Good Ship Obamaflop" (say that to music) is going down fast and the rats are jumping off. or at least some of them. I'm amazed at how someone seemingly as intelligent as Mr. Obama can allow himself to be misguided so badly. He's surrounded himself with vermin .. the worst of the worst. Everyone makes mistakes, but he's made dumb ones, and those are the torpedos that sank the ship. I'm guessing that he and other's like him get caught up in agendaland, get that notion of invulnerability, and turn a blind eye to prioritys. Conservatives very well could take back both houses. Let's see to it that our people don't jump back into the same agendaland game .. That they listen to the people, use common sense, and keep their priortys straight.

Thanks again pop, and again, good luck with the procedure.
